    About Djibouti.
The reason a lot of people live in the capital is because it's basically the only town in the arid and barren land, consisting of mostly only nomadic cattle herders of Afar(in the north) and Issa(in the south) people, while the capital itself is a trade town established by the French in 1888. Before that Djibouti was basically not much to talk about, the town centres of the Afar people were mostly in in Ethiopia(such as the town of Asaita, the capital of the Sultanate of Aussa) and the town centres of the Issa people in were in Somaliland or the Somali part of current Ethiopia(towns like Zeila, Dakkar, Harar which were all ancient capitals of the Adal Sultanate at one point), so it was a sparsely populated place of little importance when the French decided to establish a port town there and build a railroad to Ethiopia. And now it is, in a way, "Ethiopias only port town", and thus an important town prospering on Ethiopia's need for a port.
This makes Djibouti a _kind of_ a city state centred around the one town, with a _kind of_ international cosmopolitan feel to it(at least compared to other African cities). Thus it has attracted more Issa people from Somaliland, as well as other immigrants, and in the last 55 years the population has grown from 80 000 to 860 000(!).
Due to increased mechanisation in the port the need for workers has decreased and alternative work has not appeared in a town mostly focused on functioning as a port. But perhaps one of the biggest reason for the unemployment rates is that there's a lot of refugees in Djibouti, primarily from war-torn Somalia but also recently from Yemen. It's GDP per capita is about the African average, which is a lot higher than it's neighbouring countries Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Yemen(it's not bordering Yemen, it's across the Red Sea, but it's close by).
And then we have the whole khat issue. Over 50 % of the population chew khat, a mild narcotic, and an estimated 20 to 30 percent of a family budget is spent on khat. The endearing drug renders the users docile and lethargic, and far too euphoric to conduct simple and menial tasks such as working - I mean why waste time on such silly things as working when you can talk about the meaning of life with your friends for 14 hours a day all year around? And the money used on khat basically the family's spare money that could have been used for more constructive things, such as education.
So, the reasons for the high population in the capital is because it's a country more of less just based on one city, perhaps we can call it a "de facto city-state"(kinda similar to Qatar), and the reason for high unemployment is the economy is _relatively_ high(compared to neighbours) but solely based on it being a port town and not needing as much manual labourers anymore there just isn't enough work to go around, and then add the huge influx of refugees and the khat usage and you have the situation of Djibouti, which is still doing better than it's neighbour but with a huge unemployment issue.

Djibouti's capital is pretty much the only major port on the horn of Africa, (Somalia is too unstable and Eritrea too closed off/in conflict with Ethiopia) and the main port for it's much larger and more influential landlocked neighbor, Ethiopia. The capital also hosts French and American military bases. These major industries for employment, combined with the fact that the inland parts country are extremely hot and inhospitable desert, means that a majority of the population lives in the capital!

Probably the US would be there, besides for the fact that DC isn't the capital for being a big city but for its central location, and is literally built on a drained swamp, as someone who lives in the DC metro area I cab tell you the suburbs of DC in Maryland and Virginia are mainly what actually keep things running, when people talk about DC statehood, realistically the surrounding urban and suburban regions absolutely should be added to DC altho in reality that's less like than the US virgin islands becoming s state.

just letting y'all know that the swimming pigs in the Bahamas are being forced to do so (for tourism reasons) and unfortunately many of them die due to starvation, heat stroke and sometimes even drowning. the heat can cause severe sunburns and skin cancer due to lack of shade or mud for sunblock. they also kill the pigs when theres "too many" - meaning about 30. so if u go there i don't recommend paying to see them cuz you're paying the people to continue abusing them :( (if you want proof, just look it up, theres multiple articles abt it)

Countries that might/most likely will become city states in the future Looking at Bahrain personally, because at the rate it's developing and building it's infrastructure, the whole island will become one big city. They are not short of population either, seeing how they give visas and citizenships to permanent foreign workers.
Malta also. Potential candidates might be Andorra and Lichtenstein.

With Djibouti it's probably due to the horrid unemployment and poverty rate that everyone is in the capital. Think of it like Detroit Michigan. Why does no one leave? They don't know how. They don't have money. Djibouti probably has a major educational issues and if no one has those critical thinking and problem solving skills they will not be able to figure out ways to leave or improve life. Now imagine generations upon generations of this. Why wouldn't the wealthy leave? Well if they have a nice job why would they leave it to settle the harsh terrain or the desert?

I’ve travelled to some boring places in my life, but Tuvalu is the only one I can with complete sincerity say has absolutely nothing to do. There is next to no tourist or recreational infrastructure, no beaches (at least in the sandy tropical paradise sense), almost no trees. Its just an exposed reef in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that for reasons beyond comprehension, some people settled on. Its hot, humid, and miserable. Btw he didn’t really elaborate on why he learned about Tuvalu in his computer class. Their national domain extension is .tv so any website with a .tv domain name has to buy it from the Tuvaluan government. Domain registration is the country’s largest industry.

retak The conditions these people are living in are like slavery in everything, except for the simple defining factor that those "slaves" come by their free will and can leave by their free will. If you haven't noticed, this contradicts with the essential definition of slavery. Another thing is that you cannot just say "immigrants", because the Gulf states all have anti-immigration societies and governments. The word you were looking for is "expatriates", I reckon.

I think that Djibouti has about 70% of the population in their capital, Djibouti City, because it's located by a very busy shipping location where the Indian Ocean and Red Sea meet, the Bab El Mandeb Strait. Since the land is dry and arid, and only 4% of the land is arable, they have been making the most of their location. In fact, other countries like the U.S, France, China, and Japan have military bases there. This brings diplomacy, aid, and revenue. They also let landlocked Ethiopia use their ports. Djibouti City acts as a transport and refueling hub for all goods coming through the area. Djibouti used to be a colony of France and got it's independence in 1977. The French founded Djibouti City in 1888 and built a railroad connecting to Ethiopia which allowed it to flourish and grow trade. The population grew rapidly and now stands at about 700,000. They are also much more economically and politically stable than their neighbors.
I hope that answers your question!

The info you had about Mexico City is not necessarily false, but it asks for quite a stretch of your definition of Mexico City.
If you consider as Mexico City all the metropolitan area and all the neighboring cities, it is true. But using that definition, New York and Tokyo also have such a huge population.

Djibouti is in between the African, Arabian, and Somalian plates. Which makes it a hotspot of earthquakes, and possibly volcanos. And it's home to the hottest human settlement in the earth where it reaches 56°C yearly, and its near the border with eritrea which even has blue lava. And the western area of Djibouti is occupied with a desert. So they found the coast.

according to wikipedia Mongolia has just over 3 million inhabitnts and near 1,4 million in their capital at arround 44% after what I calculated. Iceland only not up at arround 66% because of the way they divide the capital, most surrounding muncipalities has fully merged with the capital, so it could be considdered one city, wiki list the lower number, so I guess they would have done the same for Mongolia if it was the case for them as well.

Guyana isnt an Englidh protectorate. It was a colony until 1966 (never a protectorate, which is completely different) and since then has been a completely independent country.
It's true you can't legally go overland from Suriname to Brazil, but it is easy to take the popular coastal route from French Guiana to Macaca in Brazil over the massive new bridge. You can also cross from Guyana into Brazil. You should probably have mentioned that most transport in inland Surname is by river.
French Guiana, where the ESA launches from, is actually part of France. You wouldn't say Brittany or Corsica are "technically" part of France, would you? They are parts of France. They use the Euro, their teachers, police, etc come from other parts of france, their food comes from other parts of France and Europe, their houses and streets are french style, etc their standard of p8v8ng is like the rest of France, they're part of all the French systems including the social security system, etc. They don't want self government. Etc Etc.
