    Hi Andy, just curious, what brands offer 20 year or lifetime warranty’s on compressors? I’ve only seen those warranty terms on heat exchangers in furnaces. Great video! Thank you.

      Amana offers lifetime unit replacement on the compressor for certain model and from an authorized dealer. We sell em everyday. They do lifetime for heat exchanger too

    Very helpful. I would suggest having an outline on what you are going to talk about and explain each outline. I think it's a great thing you are doing. I am looking at installing a new HVAC and this was helpful.

    Half way through and no helpful info yet. I'll keep watching 🤞

    Andy, I am starting a new build next month and wanted two separate units like what you have but they don't offer that anymore. They now have packages. if you have time look at this package please. The customer reviews are really good. I am going full electric. Thank you.

    Here's my 2024 Update on this question: The most important thing about HVAC is getting a company who is going to do a professional job of the installation. Still be in business for the ten year warranty period after the install and have written warranties and guarantees for emergency service and satisfaction of the installation. You probably already guessed that this won't be the cheapest quote but instead will be one of the major brands which in my 21-years in the industry would mean; Carrier/Bryant, Rheem/Ruud, Trane/Am Standard, and Lennox. Nevermind Lennox told everybody to F-off during the covid era. The best companies usually install a major brand and seperate themselves with; Transitions with sheet metal not metal tape. Install non-proprietary Air-Filter systems-(that you can buy the media for at any hardware store instead of having to purchase from them). They braze the refrigerant lines instead of crimping or other even worse methods. (I don't trust plumbers who can't sweat-solder either). Good companies set new AC units on new leveled pads and replace the electrical disconnect and whip, replace the line-set whenever possible and pull a vacuum to 500 microns before adding the new refrigerant charge into the system. And so-on and so-forth. Those things are more important than brands, however, stay with a major brand if you can because cheap brands are usually installed by cheap companies that do not install with the procedures outlined above. Finally, this stuff is getting so ridiculously expensive and higher and higher efficiencies are being federally mandated that the equipment does not last near as long as older less efficient systems did, so look to basic value systems instead of high-end systems as you'll be looking at replacing them soon after the ten year part warranties expire. The cost to repair out of warranty parts is ridiculous unless you can do it yourself, so value over sales marketing and bells and whistles is the way to go and it's only going to get worse. I really enjoyed a call I ran yesterday where the customer was looking for an AC Only on top a 1960's era Low-Boy Rheem furnace with cast-iron burners, heat-exchanger and a belt-drive blower-motor with actual oil ports for the motor bearings. I unfortunately, had to shake my head and tell him we would have to replace the full system as the furnace was simply too old even though it was built much better than anything that would replace it today. They're not meant to last 30-40 years anymore they're meant to last as long as your refrigerator, about 10-years, or die as close to after the ten year part warranty expires as possible.

    How much more should a 10 year labor warranty cost than a 1 or 2 year labor warranty?

    • @andyscornerhvac
      @andyscornerhvac  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most manufacturers give a 10 year warranty to u and the contractor. Shouldn't have to pay extra for a warranty. What little bit of a few there is should already be figured into the price of the equipment

      @@andyscornerhvac Avoid Lennox!! Charging over $1,000 for a thermostat is a flat out wrong. Google Lennox S40 thermostat price. The contractor is everything as long as you don't buy Lennox.

    • @mikechernoff6596

      Absolutely NOT!! Don't buy Lennox. They have a proprietary thermostat and replacing their connected/communicating thermostat is over $1000.00. Google S40 thermostat price. Avoid Lennox.

    • @andyscornerhvac
      @andyscornerhvac  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mikechernoff6596 Lennox has equipment models that do not require a communicating stat. I do not like communicating either but that's not just Lennox. All brands offer a communicating option. Just have to not use that option. And I'm not supporting Lennox by any means. There are several I'd take of a Lennox but one model that has communicating options does not condemn the entire brand. Every brand out there offers multiple lines.

    • @mikechernoff6596

      Communicating or not, 1000 dollars for a thermostat is unacceptable. I can practically buy an iPad for that.

    You make more money selling warranties than you do selling systems and installations. Why do companies sell warranties? Because they lose money in warranties? They prey on the fear (Fear Uncertainty Doubt).

    • @andyscornerhvac

      U said u but no I do not. I do not do sales. I don't sell anything. And in most occasions, the manufactures are the ones offering the extended warranties not the contractors. The manufactures charge the contractor for it and so that cost goes down the line. That's basic common sense. Have you never had a modern piece of equipment? You need warranties. Manufactures charge a fortune for repair parts. There's a wild misunderstanding from the misinformed that the contractors are gouging people on warranty fees. Contractors don't make a dime from warranties that come from the manufacturer. But that's why we talk about. To correct misunderstandings

    Inflation is not anywhere near an all time high. The inflation rate was higher than the current rate from 1968 to 1991. It was higher in 2007 to 2008 and 2021 to 2021. It also was higher in the 1940's except during WWII when prices were controlled. I have a 25 year-old Bryant combination unit that still is working fine. The only thing replaced was the capacitor. And I live in the Central Valley of California where summer get well over 100 degrees.

      That is nice. I appreciate the history lesson. Yes, units can at times, last beyond their life expectancy. That is a thing. I wish that could happen for everyone, but it does not. Not for most. That is why there are life expectancies. It’s an average across the country. Most of the rest of us wouldn’t want to live in cali even if our acs did last longer. Sorry. Just an average of the rest of the nation. Thank you for the comments. I appreciate your time.
