Hey guys great channel, really enjoy watching & learning different spots, tips & accessories.
Can you make a video on getting your boat ready for boating season coming out of winter?

Hey Matt, thanks for your reply. We recently purchased our first boat which is a 381 Meridian and starting to plan our first trip. Your top anchorage video was great and gave us some good ideas.
Looking forward to more content from your channel.
      Cheers,
      Neil

Great vids, as always! Looking forward to the next. Question- with all your Desolation experience, what would you say is the best time of summer to head there? Mid July? Early August? We are planning a trip there this season with 3 other boats and we all have never been, but have watched all your videos :) Thanks!

Thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the videos.
Best time IMHO: Our favorite time by far to start our Summer trip considering we work full time and want the absolute best conditions possible for the time we have booked off is mid July ending early to mid August.
Reason 1: Weather. Before mid July you run a chance that the Summer Pacific High weather pattern has not yet stabilized or set in yet. Often June can be good but it is risky for assured Summer weather. With increasing frequency, August can be a smoky month in BC and really diminishes the experience.
Reason 2: Water temperature. Desolation Sound boasts warm water but for maximum effect, it is weather related. Ideally a heatwave will push water temps into the mid 20s c (mid to high 70s f.). Swimmming from the boat is magical!
Reason 3: Hours of daylight. Close to the Summer solstice give greater flexibility in transit windows. If your waiting for weather or trying to beat a incoming front, it is nice to be able to plan on roughly 16+ hours of daylight. By mid to later August, daylight is noticeably beginning to decrease and nighttime can begin to get a chill in the air.
We are planning on heading up to Desolation Sound in mid July (as always), with 2-3 other boats. Feel free to say hello if you see us!
Always happy share information and if you have any other questions (or for anyone) there is specific subject content you would like us to cover in future videos, please comment or reach out.
      Be safe, cheers!!
      Matt

@@MVMakenaKai Thank you so much for the detailed reply and information, we very much appreciate it! I appreciate the rationale you shared, makes complete sense. I'm sure we may have a few more questions and we will be sure to come say hi during our time in Desolation. We can hardly contain our excitement :)
Hoping to start a yearly tradition like your family, in Desolation Sound.
