UR is like a Disney song and btw she record this in one take + if you want to pass directly in an 'SM ' audition you have to sing UR or Gravity by taeyeon
The phrasing and build-ups are so beautiful in this one. Within a phrase there’s always this drive or continuation until the end closing that phrase. The choice of a soft voice most of the time, the elegant vibratos, the beautiful volume changes supporting the build ups or release - such great choices. And of course with Taeyeon the emotional delivery just perfectly fits the song‘s meaning. But even without understanding the lyrics it’s just beautiful listening to her voice and such a high quality nuanced musical delivery.
I'm glad you appreciate ballads. Some people are really not into them, but I love them. I can't wait until you get to "All About You"/"A Poem Titled 'You'" from the Hotel del Luna soundtrack. I literally cannot listen to that song without shedding tears every single time.
I would not recommend this particular live version for new people who don't know about SNSD's context at all. They need to go on a journey before they can begin to understand this performance.
@@MannyHuhnni I agree, however it would be different to here an opinion with someone who doesn't know the context The version stands on it's own merits, emotions aside.
I am looking forward to when you get to your #19 reaction, because you will have to make some life shattering decisions on where to place songs in the list and from there on, your list will only get harder and harder to figure out. You think now is hard, just you wait.
Taeyeon was getting hate while she was doing all the stuff with Girls Generation. It's not just the normal levels of hate simply for being famous, either. She's a very shy, tiny lady even compared to the other members of SNSD and she was actually getting BULLIED as a member of SNSD! She caught way more hate than many of the other members. Maybe people thought she should not be the group leader just because she is tiny or whatever (or maybe certain people see shyness as a real weakness, I don't know). But the Execs at SM wanted her to be leader because she is the oldest of the ladies. Anyway, she is still very shy to this day and now, from all the bullying, she has massive trust issues with people in general. She has very few close friends that she keeps around her. Those include her close staff members (make-up artist, wardrobe specialist, etc) but they do not include other Idols at all (not even from SNSD, or from elsewhere). Tae getting hate as a soloist was inevitable. It does not seem to be as bad as what she was getting while Girls Generation was fully active but it's still very sad, she really does not deserve any of that hate. Personally, I wish her only the best of everything.
I do agree with a general message behind your reply but it almost made it sound like Taeyeon was bullied from within the group which was never the case. Other members always treated her with nothing but respect and were very protective of her, she was obviously close with at least some of them and she still talks about the group with a lot of affection. They do not spend as much time together now that they are busy with other things but they do hang out from time to time without making a show out of it. Taeyeon met with Tiffany right after coming back from one of her tour stops last month for example. Taeyeon is tiny but so are Sunny and Hyo, and 2 American members were only a few cm above. I don’t think height was ever a problem. She was hated because she was the leader of a group that stood in everyone’s way. Boy group fandoms hated SNSD for being around their oppas, girl group fandoms hated them for being a wall their group couldn’t climb over. As a leader and one of 2 most famous members of the group Taeyeon was a target. She was also a radio DJ doing daily shows for a couple of years, so haters had a direct access to her through comments she was obliged to read. She was an easy target. Then her personality did not exactly fit people’s expectations for what a female idol was supposed to be like. She was struggling mentally and not hiding it. She spoke out when injustice happened. It was grating on some people’s nerves as they wanted a smily obedient doll instead. But things got much worse in 2014 of course when she first got “caught” on a date with an EXO member and shortly after SNSD lost a member in a manner that is still a mystery and controversy a decade later. Taeyeon was made a scapegoat for both and the combined effect was horrific. She and her family were getting death threats, countless articles slandering her were popping up and upvoted in thousands on a daily basis, all of her socials were flooded with disgusting comments, her phone would not stop calling at nights after her number was spread around etc etc. The echoes of it is something she’s still dealing with even now.
@@ent2263 Damn ! That's a LOT to deal with for oone single person :( ... and not to forget that she lost her friends and also her dad in later years due to which she became even more introvert and closeted. Only her home became her safe place ! She's really a powerful woman and I'm glad she's been doing 'Amazing Saturday' now and it makes me see her weekly and enjoy her humour :)
