You are the man. This video was perfect and got my adjustments done to two gates in less than 5 min. Was gonna replace the closers but just needed to be adjusted.

Very helpful vid! The door closer on our new entryway gate was in need of calibration (the whole house shook when the gate shut) but it has no markers! Smooth as butter now. One note for others: increase / decrease speed was opposite for me, so counterclockwise made my gate close even faster (found out the hard way by causing a mild 2.1 earthquake in my home 😅) Cheers!

I am adjusting a pre existing closer but no matter how I turn the screws (this model has screws) I can only get the latch speed to adjust. Is it simply time to replace it? I work in a hotel and the closer is most likely several years old
I have a problem with a door not staying closed tight in the last 1 inch of the swing. Either it doesn't shut all the way, or it slams shut. No in between.
There are a few other causes: The closer could be adjusted incorrectly. Turn all regulating screws clockwise until they stop. Then open each valve 1 and 1/2 turns. If the closer now seems to work, it can be adjusted to your closing preferences. The closer may have lost some oil. If there is evidence that the closer has lost oil, nothing can be done to get it to work correctly. Or there is internal damage or component failure. The closer will need to be replaced.
This is exactly what I needed with no 5 minute prologue. Thank you!

helpful but mine still seems to slam shut towards the end but am sure that if I keep adjusting it'd be sweet as.
I only have a screw for the back pressure. The other side has no screws

It's still slamming hard
Loosened top screw too much and lost oil. any solution?
Add oil back in. Hydraulic jack oil. Open and close the door while filling.
@@DinoRinoRawr How far can you back out the BC screw before it leaks oil?
What about when a door is hard to open? Same type of closer.
You’ll need to loosen the screw. Don’t take it all the way out. Try alittle and see if it’s easier.
