The lines, “Kurusabha tale suni Draupadi ra janana, Koti bastra dei hele lajja kala barana!” are composed by the revered poet Bhakta Kabi Shalabega, a prominent Odia devotional poet of the 17th century. Shalabega, a devout follower of Lord Jagannath, is celebrated for his deeply emotional and devotional compositions. Despite being born to a Muslim father and a Hindu mother, his unwavering devotion to Lord Jagannath transcended religious boundaries. Shalabega’s poetry reflects themes of surrender, love, and the universal appeal of devotion, making him a unique and revered figure in Indian literary and spiritual history. His works remain integral to Odia culture, especially during the Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath.
