Can't wait till electrification kits become mass market. Imagine being able to go to an EV shop and make any car you want into an EV. Imagine all those busted Northstar Cadillacs being converted to EVs? Wow.
This vehicle is project of passion. Passion for legacy, nostalgia, advancement. I see a lot of complaints and judgement over the high price tag, but the intention was not to sell. IF someone came along and offered up money, im guessing 289k is the mark that the builders would feel comfortable letting their baby go. An electric conversion in 2022 is the only way to keep this cars alive for decades and maybe centuries to come. Enjoying our craftsmanship, no matter how it compares to others, is a luxury that we all might be so lucky to experience. Congratulations to this build team for, likely, a personal accomplishment of technical, physical, and emotional endurance.
No mention of range or charging specs seems odd. It would also have been nice to know if the conversion was done in a way that allows it to be reversible. These are things people want to know about classic car conversions.
It's an electric conversion. You shouldn't expect competitive figures compared to mass-market vehicles. These are mainly project cars and novelties, range or charging speed isn't too important to consider when a vehicle is built for fun.
@@r3versingm4chine There are plenty of other channels that cover these conversions and do provide that information. I don't care if they are competitive and frankly don't expect them to be. Still...it would be interesting to know what kind of range they were able to build into a car that big. And with an asking price of around 200K I think people would want to know what the specs are.
It's quite easy to work out, you need about a 20kw battery to move a 1 ton car 100 miles so a 50kw battery (which that has) will move a 2.5 ton cadillac about 100 miles
I love this caddy EV is there a build video that shows the planning and preperation for this build. I would like to consider the application and apply it to another classic car. I like that the interior and Colum are original and operate the vehicle. Absolutely amazing work and detail guys. Is it possible to get more information about the design and components recommend for this project.
Its a really cool concept, and very fitting for the Cadillac ethos, but that price is insane for what amounts to a novelty item that has a bunch of imperfections. Thats Ring Brothers money for local shop quality. For a quarter-million dollars, you better believe I would expect everything in the interior to NOT sound like its all falling apart.
YEA, IT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP, GREAT IDEA THOUGH, POOR EXECUTION, I HAD ONE OF THOSE, A 66 CONV, SOUNDED MUCH BETTER AND SOLD IT FOR 250 BUCKS..............SHOULD HAVE HELD ON TO IT AND CONVERTED IT, 45 YEARS LATER........OH WELL........TOMARROW 'S ANOTHER DAY, THE RANGE ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK HAS GOT TO BE AROUND 100 MILES WHICH THEY NEVER MENTION, VERY POOR VIDEO JOURNALISM, MORE LIKE A LOUSY COMMERCIAL
Awesome alternate for a blown engine. Imagine driving a 60 years old car, with all its awesome design elements and size with absolute 0 noise. Thats what the guys back in the 60s wanted to have in these big cars. I drive a stock 66 Caddy. The engine is whisperquiet. And IMHO, not every car has to be loud. Different game for muscles, but a landyacht like this? Awesome! And: The acceleration!
@suspicionofdeceit I get that, but it's still $300,000. For that money, they could at least put more effort into its showing the car and not be so sloppy. Also, I just noticed the squealing and the cables dangling under the car. It all makes me wonder what else they're neglecting.
I bougth my mercedez s class because its a big car 2013. Nothing like driving a big car. But this electric, makes it even better. Imagine other upgrades. I will buy classic one day.
Nice project.... I'm sure there will be better details in the future, projects like this are expensive, however they have to be practical, otherwise it's just a display... but I love the concept.
An almost $300,000 car, and the left side brake lights don’t work. It’s got a bunch of cables dangling under the center of the chassis. Plus the car has poor suspension compliance and ride. A number of the road going refinement and performance sorting is still needed. But it sure looks great! Love the red interior. This is a cool car.
People say EVs are expensive... but also ugly Conversions might be also expensive but you'll give old beutiful cars a new lease of life, with many old cars with broken motors can trigger a new restoration market
I will happily keep my 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood brougham with its original motor and for a fraction of the price you're selling it for I'll make it run just as nice but do your thing 👍👌💯
