@@Tondo54321 Agreed and not to dismiss having such discussions. My point is, I'd rather have a policy maker that has arguably absolute command of a field and understand where that field is going. Some of the questions these guys be asking are so shallow and is worrying.
@@ortinsuez2052 Well, expert policymakers or otherwise, the onus is on both ends (non-expert policymakers and non-policymaking experts) to come out better-informed of the complexities of the field(s) in question, when (a) the experts to understand the gaps that congress had and still have, before and after these hearings; (b) the policymakers to ask questions based on those gaps of knowledge that they've been having, and most importantly; (c) for the latter to enact socially responsible policies. I mostly agree with 'expert policymaker > non-expert policymaker', but both types are humans and can be swayed by many things (primarily $). Suppose an expert policymaker gets lobbied into supporting a policy against the social/political/economic/environmental pros (and vice versa). In that case, it may as well undermine the expertise of any expert policymaker in the future, and it becomes a 'one-step-forward-two-steps-back' type of situation.

BTC's energy argument is suck a BS argument, for one it is not accurate that the cited number is per transaction, it requires the same energy whether you do one or a million transactions, so in order to compare it, we should consider the energy cost of all of the computers and card processing devices to power Mastercard and visa, the only difference is that we can easily calculate BTC's value. On the other hand the way Bitcoin works it pushes energy consumers to go find the cheapest sources because they are directly penalized for not being efficient, so it often takes advantage of energy that would otherwise be wasted. And lastly as the network capacity is not necessarily correlated to the amount of energy consumption, more traffic does not equate more energy. The truly scaling options like lightning don't even require the same energy process.
yea idk why she was there just shilling a shitcoin...bitcoin transactions don't use up the energy, bitcoin energy usage is almost exactly the same whether there are 100 transactions per day or a million...it'd be like saying that your local farm uses an unbelievably amount of energy per transaction cause they only sell to 2 buyers each quarter or something...it's just a stupid argument. the energy bitcoin uses secures the network, just like the energy the internet uses secures the internet.
Nobody can stop this. It's happening , crypto , crypto gaming , metaverse , decentralised banking. It's here to stay , and we the people choose for it to stay. If you watched the actual video, she actually was asking the question of HOW the CEOs would respond to people who say what she said. People like you get completely fooled by poor video editing like this. CNET has the full clip as "Watch AOC question Crypto execs on how Bitcoin is different" which shows she asked it in a way that allows the CEO to educate the audience, but for some reason CNET cut the first part out completely to make it seem like she's simply making a naive statement. Her full question was "What do you say to the folks who say this doesn't seem like a new financial system per se but an extension or perhaps expansion of the present one?"
just do something that will earn you some money while you sleep, no matter how little. Also proof of stake is low in energy consumption because the consensus is built on the number of coins rather than on the number of computing units (proof of work)

What's really scary is we have people making rules that have no idea what's happening. Imagine if we didn't have such discussions. We need to elect people that are moving with the times.
Theyre moving with the times by having these discussions. Not everything is About crypto and not every lawmaker should be a crypto expert
@@Tondo54321 Agreed and not to dismiss having such discussions. My point is, I'd rather have a policy maker that has arguably absolute command of a field and understand where that field is going. Some of the questions these guys be asking are so shallow and is worrying.
Unfortunately that’s always the case
@@ortinsuez2052 There are too many fields maybe? Cant have a million people in congress?
@@ortinsuez2052 Well, expert policymakers or otherwise, the onus is on both ends (non-expert policymakers and non-policymaking experts) to come out better-informed of the complexities of the field(s) in question, when
(a) the experts to understand the gaps that congress had and still have, before and after these hearings;
(b) the policymakers to ask questions based on those gaps of knowledge that they've been having, and most importantly;
(c) for the latter to enact socially responsible policies.

The last lady didn't really debunk the Bitcoin energy thing
There's nothing to debunk, it (currently) uses a ton of energy.
@@JoshBromberg She just used the Chewbacca defense.

Brian Brooks did an amazing job (the best to date IMHO) presenting to congress. Adding AOC's comments dilutes the impact. Crawl, walk, run.
