And I told you! Yokohama is just so great. It’s the constant “everything is shuffled every time you play” so there aren’t opening moves that are just no brainers. It’s not like Paladins or architects where some things are different; no, EVERYTHING is different in Yokohama. Why it’s so replayable!

That was one of the most entertaining videos in a long time. The long sighs, the true dilemmas, the stopping for cricket, the snippets of dark humour,and many good choices (apart from my favourite game off to the sales).
@@3MBG I am hesitant to say, but is Too Many Bones - I have played this 220 times - solo and multiplayer, in person and over Zoom. There is something about TMB that really speaks to me, and I am really deliberate in the way I add new content. The mix of battle puzzle, back-up plan and the throw of the dice (where you roughly know the odds - but sometimes the odds favour you, and sometimes they don't). I know that it isn't for everyone but for me it is a good blend of Euro and Dice Chucking. Btw, very much agree with your Garphill choices. I hope to watch some cricket while I am in NZ in Jan - April (after the MIQ). And congrads btw on the new house.

Congratulations. When my daughter was born (she's 2 now) and my (child-free) boardgaming friends kept coming around I struggled to teach and/or play anything-much to everyone's frustration. My mental and physical exhaustion being major factors. I soon went through all my shelves and started brutally culling games. Anything I couldn't setup and teach at least 90% of within 30 minutes and anything I'd actively avoid to play something else I just sold/chucked. I went from almost 400 games to 150. But that was 150 I could play any day of the week (given some space/time). She now goes into our 'games room' (read spare bedroom) and loves sorting all my dice and playing with some of my games (anything with plastic dinosaurs, plastic cthulhus or lego at present). Hopefully she'll develop an interest in the games but if not then I'll cull again when she's older. Kids certainly put board games into a different context and my latest choices of games have certainly changed, I've crept back up to 200 now and they're not the heavy wargames and dungeon crawling games I used to play. That said my wife and I still crack open a game at least once a week just to unwind from work & parenting!
Also, don't discount solo games - they've come into their own recently. Commancheria, dvg Leader series/warfighter... They've been great for just cleansing my mind over the last couple of years.
Big congrats on the upcoming baby! Don't rush or stress about moving before having the baby, they can easily live for year or 2 without needing big room for themselves. We rushed to get bigger house before having our first kid, but would have been fine with old place for couple years. Best of luck, and enjoy your free time and sleep before it's gone.

I agree on Century. Hard to let that one go. Very good for families non gamers and gamers when brains are tired. :) I recommend the playmate for that one it’s gorgeous.
Two things: 1. As everyone has mentioned already, congratulations on the move, the new family member and the game and prototype. 2. I just sold my copy of Twilight Imperium 3E for $45 USD. After Finally playing it and seeing how much it would cost to get the expansions, I put it in my local FLGS consignment shop and used my store credit for 4E. 3rd edition was sold in less than 2 weeks. I think some people either prefer 3E or will take it at the right price.

This is pretty much just a video of you tidying up, but strangely mesmerising and really interesting to see your current collection! Great choices to keep Black Orchestra, Burgle Bros and Horrified; not just three of my favourite coops, but three of my favourite games period.
You should give smash up a try again! My husband and I divide all of the factions up into two lists. Our "teams". Then we randomize who we play with each time in a sudden death tournament style. We have almost reached the end. We keep track of how many times factions have won. Excited to do another tournament.
Due to the video title, I started off thinking there'd be 164 games on the Remove list! That would've been SUPER impressive, but I'm not surprised you didn't go quite that far. This is a good process to do every so often (like every other year or so). I'm currently doing that with my bookshelves.

Loved the video, really interested when reviewers take a retrospective look back so you can see the games that may have made a big splash when first reviewed but then have lost their appeal, along with those unspectacular games that regardless get a lot of play and value. Congratulations! My wife and I are expecting our second in June. Luckily we moved to a bigger house not long after number one arrived so we had room for baby *and* my game collection but mines is a lot smaller than yours was.
10 minutes in and only one game is in the remove pile... This looks to be a cliffhanger! Will he have enough space for both wife and child, or will he forever live on top of a mountain of boardgames? I'll know the answer in 90 minutes. 😁
Sold my Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition after seeing 4th Edition was on the way. Found a buyer who was happy with it easily enough. Think there are still people who prefer the 3rd edition over the 4th we call them crazy people. Remember old games need love and there is always a person/group out there if you can't do it. Really enjoyable watch, bringing so many thoughts and feels! Most importantly, congratulations! So happy for you! We went through a culling of games a year ago before moving from the U.S. to beautiful Aotearoa, so this sparked some mixed memories. Didn't have any "nooooo keep" feelings, though, mostly cuz everyone is allowed to enjoy or not enjoy games as suits them. If it doesn't bring you joy, definitely pass it on. A little sad that you don't enjoy Roll Player and Sagrada like our family does, but hopefully the new owners will love 'em. Speaking of love, we 💜 Quantum, though I understand it going to storage for now. Definitely recommend a play of that once you've moved and have time (hahaha! We have kids and I just realized how silly the 'have time' statement is - but in many of the best ways 😊). I smiled every time you mentioned Shem and Bobby, since I just met them at GANZ and they're not only great designers but great humans. You reminded me of a lot of games I've been eyeing or have on the wishlist (Space Base, Cytosis, Hoard, Obsession, Raiders of Scythia and more) and how happy I am that Santa got us Kiitos for Christmas. I love a good cull, good for the soul. I like to keep my collection relatively tight, all contained in a 4x4 kallax. If I want to acquire something new, I have to sell to make room. Granted I am not a content creator.
@@3MBG gotcha. Yep I got all 4 of BSG, my favorite. It CAN fit in 1 box lol, but it is not a complete closure. Keep thinking of getting rid of parts of the expansions I never play like new caprica but I cant being myself to do it. I need to cull my collection like you did. Now that I see you know your 40k stuff... We need a worker placement game where you’re in the Mechanicus and either try to make the Magos of your planet happy, or you’re trying to run a Forge World itself. Something like Yokohama plus Paladins of the West Kingdom but Mechanicus flavored. Gotta go chase those STCs, after all!

Phew. I only have 122 games minus a couple if you remove the multiple versions of Dead of Winter and Aeon's End... I think that would fit in a 5x5 Kallax but instead I've got them spread out in a 4x4 and a 2x4 and 4 more spots under the bookshelf... Awwww damn I'm a hoarder!
You need to play Alien Frontiers more than once. the way you can use alien tech cards and do combos takes many plays to understand better. There's a lot of depth there. Surprised to see it go on the sell shelf that quickly. As for Cthulhu Wars, worth every square foot it takes up IMO. LOL, never get rid of it!

Yeah, plan is Baby in April, but redecorating from now until then. If we are ready to sell, we aim for the end of the year

I love a good cull, good for the soul. I like to keep my collection relatively tight, all contained in a 4x4 kallax. If I want to acquire something new, I have to sell to make room. Granted I am not a content creator.
Honest question, why do you have so many expansion boxes and not just put them in the base game box? Ex. Dice Throne.
Dice throne is brand new, so haven't sorted that out. Many games, i try to put in as few boxes as possible. For example BSG's 4 boxes are in 2 boxes.
@@3MBG gotcha. Yep I got all 4 of BSG, my favorite. It CAN fit in 1 box lol, but it is not a complete closure. Keep thinking of getting rid of parts of the expansions I never play like new caprica but I cant being myself to do it.

Can't say much, but its an area control game with card manipulation. So you play cards to mess with the board and other cards.

We need a worker placement game where you’re in the Mechanicus and either try to make the Magos of your planet happy, or you’re trying to run a Forge World itself. Something like Yokohama plus Paladins of the West Kingdom but Mechanicus flavored. Gotta go chase those STCs, after all!

You need to play Alien Frontiers more than once. the way you can use alien tech cards and do combos takes many plays to understand better. There's a lot of depth there. Surprised to see it go on the sell shelf that quickly.
As for Cthulhu Wars, worth every square foot it takes up IMO. LOL, never get rid of it!
We just played whistle stop for the first time last month and we really enjoyed it. Reckon it's worth your time.

How do you price your games? Every so often I'll sell some of mine on Ebay and feel like I either overprice or underprice them.
I tend to sell stuff cheaper than most people, just to move it on. About 40-60% of retail depending on the game
