Hey Dave, I can't help it, but it must be said. I know I speak for myself and I'm sure for many other's. THANK YOU for your contribution to the guitar playing community, we appreciate your hard work and sharing the fruits of your labor!
Thank you for the amazing lesson! Yours is the gold standard for guitar tutorials: each section at normal speed, then slow, then repeated. The entire lesson is built upon small blocks. Then, of course, your tabs. SO GRATEFUL!
Haven't checked out any of your other lessons, but if they are this caliber I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers. Accurate and to the point- not alot of jabbering. Great lesson!
I've looked at several SHA solo lessons. This one is absolutely the best. It is also the most accurate, straight forward and helpful. Great job, much appreciated.
Dave you're the man! A pet peeve of mine is transcribing the solos the way they're played, include all of the details - and you nail it! I'd buy you a beer or three
What about the first solo? I would love to see your original version of that. This video was awesome, you added so much insight, and the pacing was perfect. thank you
Great job as usual Dave! You seriously have to be one of the hardest working TH-camrs, as you just keep churning up great, and accurate content. This is the ONLY channel I come to learn soloing and technique. Dave is so fuking accurate in his tabs, and honestly plays shite right, period. So kids if you wanna learn the right notes, the right feel (motif), and the right technique, Dave's your man, period. Because of this dude the internet isn't as scary and he lights a flame at the end of the proverbial tunnel. My hats off to you PDX👐✨👒🎸🤘🙏and my respect. I know this might seen over doing it or whatever but I feel like credit is due here. and I feel like he wasn't getting it, henceforth here it is. Great job, you are a seriously excellent guitarist, rock on brother.
Awesome in depth lesson, nailing all the intricacies that make this such an epic solo. Great work bro, glad I subscribed. By the way that strat is cool! What brand is it and what type are those pick ups. Cheers Brother.
Great Skynyrd tone Dave !!!! I was fortunate enough to see the start of the "Street Survivors" tour in the summer of 1977 here in Charlotte a few months before the plane crash .I also saw them in 1974 during the Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd tour !!! Both were fantastic shows !!!!
As overrated as some people thing this song is, it's undoubtedly a classic. The guitar solos (the first little one, and the main solo both) are melodic and classy and move perfectly above the main rythm guitars. I've been neglecting learning this one for a long time. Thanks for the lesson on this one!
Man, great lesson. I am surprised how tough it has been to get the timing down on these phrase Ed plays on both solos. I remember him commenting somewhere about how some other famous guitarist had asked him why he wrote such hard solos to play (apparently when Ed couldn’t show him / remember how to play a certain part) 😅
Great job, but on the album I hear a little pause at the 15 fret before the bend which gives it a hammer on effect. Your version is spot on to the way ed played live.
I remember spending the entire summer of 1990 learning this solo and was never able to perfect it. Our band kept getting requests for it so we decided to learn it. The biggest thing we learned was you better be damn good if you try to cover any Skynyrd song. Their music is very intricate and you do not realize it until you try to play it. The bass line in sweet home Alabama is a mofo as well. Just forget about trying to nail that piano part.
That was quality - a song I have always wanted to learn (maybe the length of the song or the number of guitars in the recording has put me off in the past) - but great job as always!!!
I enjoy your videos & you’re a very good player...Thank you for all the hard work! However I have always wondered...What was up with wig & glasses outfit you used to wear? Were you under witness protection for a while or something? LoL
Still trying to get down section 3. Can you breakout the picking for the beginning of the section? Is it D (12), U (14 pull-off to 12) and U (14)? Then it just repeats this pattern?
I've been going thru this lesson for a while and really struggling with the *end*. I expected more trouble with the faster parts, but I find myself really suffering from a lack of normal-speed playalong after each section. The slow-speed playalong just doesn't "sound like it belongs" in isolation and I'm having to jump back to the beginning/end of the video to try to make sense of how it is supposed to sound at full speed, when put together. Love the content as always and hope the feedback helps!
Didn't know u had that Southern Fried Chicken in you LOL.😃 Should I call you KERNEL PDX 😄. If u ask me you played the solo better than Ed King. Awesome Bro. ROCK ON.🎸 Have you ever taking into consideration to teach the solo from Molly Hatchet / Flirting with disaster?

I know this is 3 years old but this has got to be the best breakdown and teaching approach I’ve ever seen. Much appreciated.
Totally. It's almost weird the man does not have waaay more subs? Stoked as my band is going to cover this. Love how it's note for note!!
I've looked at several SHA solo lessons. This one is absolutely the best. It is also the most accurate, straight forward and helpful. Great job, much appreciated.
You are the man!
Thanks man! :)
Love your lessons and nice detail as always. This band had some of the best guitarist on the planet.
Hey thanks R.L.! Yeah I loved their guitar playing :)
@@PDXguitarfreak Please do the main and outro solos for " so this is love"
Been on a Skynyrd kick lately. Perfect timing! Ed King was awesome!
Right on bro, rock it! :)
Dave you're the man! A pet peeve of mine is transcribing the solos the way they're played, include all of the details - and you nail it! I'd buy you a beer or three
Very detailed! The kind of lesson I like. Thanks!
Right on - glad you enjoyed! :)
An excellent tab and easy to follow break-down of Ed King's nuanced stye. Thank you.
Excellent lesson. Professionally played and instructed. It’s all there.

Sounds spot on

Would love to see you teach more Matthias Jabs stuff...the solo for I’m Leaving You would be a great one
Ahh yeah, that's a great one. Can't go wrong with Matthias! :)
You make it look so easy! 😀
Great job, but on the album I hear a little pause at the 15 fret before the bend which gives it a hammer on effect.

Turn it up!

Yes everything he said. The Gold standard. Thank God you don't sit there and tell us what key it's in or what scale he's using. Who cares.
