bought the album and really enjoy it! just enough of each person's personality comes through without over playing just to prove a point. we all know their all amazing players. but to see a different side of them is really cool! thank you guys! this coming from someone who is a huge Prog. metal fan.
After listening for about a month, and (believing) I appreciate the achievements of all, I urge they should consider that there is a potential here to expand and do really brilliant and lovely music-making.... better as a whole than the sum of all things to date....
a friend come to me and say: hey take look to this album, it´s some kind oj f new project of MP. ... I said, aww, another Mp´s band, maybe it´s not interesting .,,same as always................ but, istead of it, I decide to hear it, I FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS BAND, I DON´T, KNOW HOW, BUT I FALL IN LOVE WITH THE SINGER, THE GUITAR PLAYER THE BASS GUITAR PLAYER, THE KEYBOARDIST, THE DURMMER,,,,, YOU ARE AMAZING GUYS, AND I´M SO HAPPY THAT IN THESE TIMES, YOU MAKE MUSIC WITHI THIS QUALITY,
Flying Colors has just topped the list of my most favorite "sit back and relax" bands (and I listen to a lot of Dream theater, Adrenaline Mob, Dixie Dregs and Alpha Rev)... The way the extended instrumental ends and the vocals reenter at the 7 minute or so mark of the song Infinite Fire sounds a lot like Rush and is so awesomely cool! I can't wait for your next album to come out! ~ P.S. Mike, I think you should consider making Flying Colors your main band... Just a thought :-)
I really loved this album, especially this song. It's really... uh... JAMMIN'. Also, choosing Casey was a wonderful decision; his voice fit perfectly with the songs.
Reminds me of an old bit I saw on PBS, a rustic styled poet standing -somewhere around the Ken-Tenn-Va border- on a hillside at midnight out back his lighted house delivering a poem. It was full of should've and could'ves and ended "Could'a, should'a, would'a but I didn't didn't didn't." I'm pret' sure 'c-s-w' was the right order there. C-s-w makes more sense... if you think about it. :)
Kewl.. I did hear the album here on youtube just a couple days ago... and I did buy a copy of the CD right after... yes, please do get some better video cams with my money. I didn't realize Steve was in a new band with LaRue again. Steve and Dave always seem to have really awesome live chemistry. Thanks for letting people share your songs on youtube, otherwise I would have missed this one.
God, I really, really want to hear the original arrangement for this song. I mean, I love this version, of course, but: "The initial arrangement had a chorus that Casey and I sang together and had a pretty cool Queens Of The Stone Age vibe and then broke into a really cool breakdown section in the middle where Casey went into a bit of a Bono meets Jim Morrison spoken section". - Mike Portnoy
Wow... Mike except that you are an awesome drummer, you have one of the nicest sounding drum-kit! I don't know if it's the mixing, or the "micing" (microphones you use and were you place them) , or your playing and dynamics, or the drumkit, but it's awesome...!! do you make the sound yourself or someone else does it for you?? anyways it sounds awesome!!! good luck with your new band... and the other guys, you are awesome! good luck to ya all :-)
Love this album!!! T O U R!!!! This song is really cool. I enjoyed learning it. Your killing us, we needed the solo demonstrated Steve. haha. The lyrics are interesting as well. Who wrote them and what is it about? Just thought I'd throw that out there.
this album is amazing, also guys just wondering will transatlantic ever be returning/touring/new album? that band was simply amazing and i would absolutely love to see you guys live!
AHAHAHAHAHA ohhhh Damn!!! ;P I guess it's a good thing i already bought the album then ;P You'll just have to make more merch that i can buy lol! On the facebook page someone from the page wrote that there'd be a full guitar DVD by Steve Morse that goes through (most or all???) of the songs? Any updates on that? I haven't been able to find anything yet :(
Steve Morse 7:00 "The higher i play, normally, i use the neck position, which is closer to the center of the strings. The center of the string has more of the fundamental, and the fat part of the sound, And the pick up that's closest to the edge where its vibrating gets the most harmonics." (And seems the same is basically true for picking and fretting too.)
Maybe it's just me, but I can hear some changes in MP's style, since he left DT. You can tell it's him playing, obviously, but there are some small things that are a welcome change.
I lost it when Mike just busts out into a drum solo. Master at work right there, people.
Great drumming MP!
The small notes throughout the video made my day
It's such a joy to watch Mike play drums
I love watching a song being created! These guys are all so talented, and watching them come together with their ideas is amazing.
just the notes popping up makes the video worth watching over and over again!
Awesome! It's great to see some "behind the scenes" stuff. See you guys out there in New York!
Steve is so serious, scientific so to speak, in his approach and his explanations, it makes the jokes that much more hilarious 😂
PLEASE MAKE A SECOND ALBUM. ONE IS NOT ENOUGH!
You guys give me hope for the musical world!

Somewhere after the 3:00 mark, Portnoy lets it out...He's a BEAST!
And then, again, at the end of the video. Amazing.
Man his drums sound so good
Really heavy song! I like it!
Neal's caption commentary is gold. "Steve has had this guitar for over 400 years". "Mike collects drum kits... Also, sock puppets."

It was our exec producer Bill Evans.

"Labrie"? Maybe the DT singer needs a new camera, too, but we only have a "LaRue"!
I hope Steve will use that riff at 1:21 for the next Deep purple studio album...I like it
The happiness: do what you love meanwhile you laugh...

those notes are hilarious!
1:22 hey thats funny because the song is called shoulda coulda woulda and it says soulda.
Could have been a Transatlantic fan Mr. DanceOfEternity!
Dave LaRue is a living metronome.
The little comments in the top right corner are priceless! lol
Well, he actually took lessons for music theory... But not in actual drumming. This makes the guy even more impressive. :D
...in GLORIOUS 360p SD!
6:42 is my favorite editor note.
"Jammming on the ostinato is illegal in South America". I found THAT out the hard way.
That's the one. Points!
Maybe it's just me, but I can hear some changes in MP's style, since he left DT. You can tell it's him playing, obviously, but there are some small things that are a welcome change.
