    Can someone explain why sidewinder mtx owners are pushing 260hp with the same engines and bolt on turbos. Not really understanding why there is such a big difference.

      Turbo and fueling. The GYTR turbo is sized for optimum increases throughout the rev range. Of course a larger turbo could force more air in and bump power, but since the YXZ doesn't have a CVT; therefore, more variance in operating RPMs, a much larger turbo could create significant lag. The OE injector size and supplied tuning is apparently also a limiting factor. The aftermarket companies claiming output in the neighborhood of 350-HP with this kit are offering up-sized injectors, revised ECU tuning and/or new camshafts. With those modifications, the powertrain warranty coverage from Yamaha goes away.

    Better get upgraded valve retainers. Just dropped an exhausted valve into a cylinder after installing the GYTR turbo kit on my YXZ with less than 1k miles on it. Several upgrade kits are available and are a must. I was told it is common. Yamaha knows better!

    Can this kit be pushed to the 200 ish hp mark, and will the yxz still be reliable at that kinda power level?

      Thinking about getting one, how’s the power and how’s the suspension compared to other sxs

      @@ChaseCeccarelli I have almost 4000 miles on mine so I’ll give you an honest opinion. In the dunes it climbs hills like crazy. The high revving engine really shines! Combine that with a gear ⚙️ on gear transmission and it really puts the power down! The suspension is great...although the “haters” like to talk shit. Does it run flat out with a $35,000 Can Am with a upgraded turbo and tune....no. You can buy a YXZ well under 20k. The best built and most reliable side-by-side on the market!

    It will be the best factory utv out there I own one with the Weller Racing turbo and there isn’t another factory turbo utv out there that can touch it in a flat drag race and with the torque it has I crawl up anything I have ever tried I ride with a couple Polaris cars and one maverick I’m not hating on anything love the other cars when it comes down to it in the real world they jut can’t do what it will do

    Disappointed with Yamaha when they made the yxz. You have to rev the engine very hard to achieve peak power and that turbo kit won't work so well covered in mud.

    • @briangeyer5649
      @briangeyer5649 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It's a very special machine and we need some diversity in the sxs market. Ever try buying a car from the factory with a manual sequential shift transmission? Or one that redlines at 10,500 rpm? I dont know of any. And these go for under 20k! And 13k used! With a mid engine layout 3 cylinder engine.
