PTX works very hard to honor the original while putting their own unique stamp on a piece. Easy to forget it’s acapella!! If you’re feeling low, just think how that piano sharing a stage with PTX feels. LOL!!
I love this cover by PTX. One of the things that makes Ben Platt's performance of it so outstanding is how he combines excellent vocals with staying completely in character. Not an easy feat.
@@SongsFromASuitcase I agree. I had never heard of Ben until this musical. "You Will Be Found" got me hooked, followed by his duet with Lin-Manuel. It doesn't hurt that he's in my vocal range so I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to sing the songs he sings in this musical!
Mitch, Scott and Kirstin are definitely choir kids, Matt was a church singer and I'm not sure about Kevin but he might have some theater background too
@brunettealesoda what do you mean? Mitch amd kirstie have the most theater training of the whole group. Mitch did musical theater since 8 years old up until going on the sing off.
@brunettealesoda kirstie is the only one who went to college for musical theater. Yes Scott, Matt and Avi did music in college but it wasn't for musical theater. And we know Mitch was never able to attend college due to the sing off. Actually Matt is the only one who has a degree in music. Kevin's is in pre med and the others didn't finish college because of the sing off.
What Pentatonix is doing that's a little different, when it comes to timing and rythm, is; the beatboxer (drummer) has the first responsibility for keeping the rythm. The bass then follows that beat, so far it's normal. But, the singers then follows the bass' rythm, wich is slightly different. Normally both the bass and the singers would all follow the "drums", but PTX does it a little different. It might seem like a very insignificant thing, but for me, it's one of thé most important reasons why PTX are amazing, apart their amazing talents :-)
My main activity at night is to make a marathon of your videos, I love how beautiful you look in each of them and the fragments you sing, I would like to hear you sing something complete!
i think you should definitely react to one of ben platt's original songs called "older" it tells a great story of his life but also pertains to everyone else in the world too because life is to short to just sit around waiting for someone to finally see you sitting there waving through a window (hehe see what i did there)😉🤣

Avi Kaplan", "Man of Constant Sorrow", or "Folsom Prison Blues". You can't go wrong with them, and I assure you that you will be hooked!

You lost me almost from the start but certainly once you criticized Mitch. He has more singing talent in his little toe than you ever could critique, let alone sing. The song is fine, other than Kirstin getting narrow on “burn”, song it just about perfection.
Same I know this is an old reaction but since you recently commented I thought I’d reply. Imagine calling Mitch nasally. Her imitation of his voice sounded nothing like how Mitch sounds. He has one of the most angelic male voices ever. This song certainly doesn’t give Mitch enough of a spotlight for her to hear him but she certainly didn’t judge that little but correctly. I’d even go further to add that Scott is the one who can sometimes go nasally. Just not in this song. She needs to listen to the a prayer by them or Mitch singing your power if she thinks he’s nasal.
Quick not so fun fact. I was on the way to the Pentatonix concert and a dude flipped his truck and hit my car. So now I wear glasses due to glass cutting my eye and I still have not seen PTX. :/ I'm alive and watching this though and glasses suit me. Gotta see the bright side and PTX through TH-cam. :)
I am always curious on what vocal coaches have to say for Lisa Gerrard. The live version of Sacrifice with Pieter Bourke is astonishing. Her voice is majestic and unique.
I am newer to your hchannel and I was wondering if you ever reacted to “Little Miss Perfect” by Taylor Louderman, “Monster” by Caissie Levy, “What do you know About Love” by Aisha Jackson and Jenali Alladin. If not these are amazing songs and you should legit react to every single one!!! 💕
You should react to them doing the song "The Sound of Silence" (link(s) below): Pentatonix (recorded/official video): th-cam.com/video/gdVjVtpr55M/w-d-xo.html Pentatonix Live (wasn't the best recording, but figured it's better than nothing): th-cam.com/video/LmowFmjhEIs/w-d-xo.html Also in the live version I have uploaded for the link you miss a little bit of the beginning and they have some drummers come in towards the end, but I think they might have done that for more effect.😊 Either way I think you should check out both of them, they are both great to listen to.
You have to react to "Mother" from the anime Carole and Tuesday. It's a very emotional song and even after the statement that we are all humans and we all come from the same place it portrays beautifully each of the protagonists relationship with their mothers. All the songs of the anime are great, all in english. I love your videos ❤️

Why do you denigrate pop music? Pop stands for popular!! I defy you you to find better voices than those in PTX. By the way they are not "The" Pentatonix just Pentatonix. Mitch Grassi , the one you said was nasally has probably the best voice in the group, or anywhere. All of them were involved in musical theatre. Your understanding of voices is poorly demonstrated in this review.
I suggest you listen again; she said nothing at all negative about the performance, and she has great understanding of voice. Yes, "pop" is short for "popular" but let's not forget that all art is subjective so it is subject to the taste of the viewer/listener. She didn't say Mitch's voice was "nasally" she said it was more nasal than Scott's, which is perfectly accurate and isn't in any way saying that it wasn't a deliberate choice on Mitch's part. Frankly, I don't much care for the "pop" music they do but it doesn't mean that I think anything negative about anyone in the group; they still have the best arrangements and harmonies around... one can appreciate talent without particularly caring for the subject.
When did she “denigrate” pop music. She explained the difference between Pop and Theatre and how they were choosing to take it more Pop like and less theatre. Also, Mitch has a beautiful unique tone.. but it is a thinner more nasal tone as opposed to a heavier chest voice. One isn’t better than the other and she didn’t say it was.

is the singer of ptx part ''we start believin that we belong'' etc important somewhere useful to turn head a little or no?
To complete the circle...Ben Platt (who did the Broadway version of this), covered a PTX original ‘Can’t Sleep Love.’
