Absolutely agree! Her look is striking. You know when you are somewhere not really putting a lot of thought into your surroundings and someone passes by and you find yourself looking at them and thinking “Wow that person is so pretty/handsome”. It’s not just physical beauty, but the way that person carries themselves.

Tammy please please give us more, your meals, tips, etc… 🙏🏻. I am 53 and basically feel like crap! Can’t get the weight off no matter what I do 😢 keto, low carb, WW’s, Beachbody, plant based, you name it! Constipated, heartburn, nausea, migraines, no energy, tired, can’t sleep, osteoporosis in my lower back, arthritis in my hands, the list goes on. I love hearing tips and advice from a grown woman like yourself, who is going through similar issues ❤

      @LauraB.335 ปีที่แล้ว +8

You’ve gotta get your inflammation down. You say low carb and keto didn’t work for you. Did you give them long enough to get into ketosis? Also, did you do some fasting? I don’t know how much you know about a low carb or ketogenic way of eating, but it takes time to switch into fat burning. Fasting speeds the process up, and most suggest that older women need at least 20 hours of fasting daily to make a difference in fat loss and inflammation, and Jason Fung and Megan Ramos call 3 36-42 hour fasts a week (for example, that’s skipping eating three days a week) the “gold standard” of fat loss.
If I am not consistently in ketosis, I won’t lose fat and may gain it, so it’s important for me to get into ketosis and stay there. The whole idea of this is to build metabolic flexibility, so the body can more easily switch between being a sugar burner and fat burner. BUT there are definitely some people who have to stay in ketosis for extended periods of time to really get to a point where their body builds the mechanisms to be flexible and to get rid of pain and autoimmune issues, like arthritis.

One of the best weight loss videos I’ve heard. I used to compete as a natural body builder(novice) and I counted macros. You are absolutely correct. Nothing is off limits but you want to eat nutritious food and nourish your body. But also you can enjoy life. I’m almost 67 years old and I work out five days a week. Lift weights 3 and cardio 2. I do have osteoporosis of the spine and hips but is not keeping me from working out and enjoy life. Also I don’t take any medications at all. Just vitamins. I don’t look 67 at all. My son is 40 years old and when we go out people think that we are a couple. I also use medical grade skin care. One app that I use and is extremely helpful is my fitness pal. You scan the barcode of the food and tell you all the macros and keeps a record for the day. Good luck. It’s not that hard. I don’t eat red meat but I eat chicken, fish, lots of vegetables, Greek yogurt, eggs whites, turkey and an occasional treat.

@@jilllovesbeegees70 tracking the food with My fitness Pal is really easy. When I haven’t used it for few months and the barcode scanning was free. Now you have to pay unfortunately and I won’t do it. Luckily for me I’m very familiar with portion size and macros from all the years in the fitness industry. Right now I just want to loose few pounds that I gain during Covid. Slow and study is the best way. Good luck 😊

Same! But, I had a bitvsweets, though I can handle, was carnivore for 7 months. It took me 2 month to stop sweets, then was on carnivore and fruit for 2 weeks, now back to carnivore but still can not be at 100, piece of bread, spoon of mashed potatoes... it is hard. I am so upset I had that sugar weakness and stupidity to think I was in control. Felt really great on pure carnivore, lost 45lb. I'm working on getting back on track!

Tammy, Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! I too am someone who can't take HRT and have some immune system disorders, along with DDD, Osteoporosis, IBS, with C. I avoided it as long as I could, but finally had to have my neck fixed and my lumbar spine. Which has forced me to find different ways to exercise, but I will say this as long as I can stand on my own two feet I will incorporate walking in my daily routine. I too use weights & have a trainer who knows my health issues & together have developed a routine that works for me. You are looking healthy, happy & excited & the outfit & makeup today are stunning! I mean100% gorgeous my friend. I really enjoyed this video and am interested in knowing more. I'm not big on red meat but do like chicken, turkey, & fish. Vegetables, fruits & berries. This sounds like a lifestyle I could live with!

Thank you for this, Tammy. I don’t count all macros when I do count them, bc it really affects me mentally. But I do need to get back into it and focus on my protein, bc there is just a huge difference in how I feel and my weight when I do that. This is the kick in the pants I needed to get back into it! You look absolutely FABULOUS - as always!! - and I am so glad you’re feeling better, too. Can’t wait for more videos on this. Peace & blessings, CMT!

Hi Tammy, you look amazing!!!! I have always stayed on a high protein, low fat diet and have always loved love lifting weights, working out in gym and jogging( now walking). And like you said, it’s amazing how great walking is for us, especially as we get older. Not just physically but for our mental health as well.
Thank you for diving deep into this topic as it’s so very important and for sure not spoken about enough.
I at 61 have had 6 major back surgeries due to a spinal injury at work and hip injury. I had total hip replacement one yr ago and waiting for 7th major spinal surgery to attempt to remove a tumor on my spinal cord caused by previous surgeries. And like you have osteoarthritis of spine and shoulders etc. it’s not fun is it? But oh my strength training and stretches are so important for all of us, especially during menapause and post. I’ve always been petite, and boom menapause started and I gained 30lbs within 4 months. Could no longer take HRT due to blood clots in my lungs and leg. It’s crazy isn’t it?
Anyway, thank you for such a great video. Got to go check out the lady you followed. Oh, I realized I was not following my healthy eating so, went back to higher protein and lower fat counts and have lost that horrible 30 plus lbs. like you most of it was in my tummy.

You look GREAT Tammy! And Your eyes are just absolutely MESMERIZING!!!! 🔥🔥🔥💃
You have given me some hope that I can accomplish this weight loss too! I had just about given up! My whole life I was used to being the right weight, never having any issues with that. I always worked out & was in Great shape. And then I got hit with the menopause stick! I REALLY felt like my body completely betrayed me! I also have been having life circumstances that kept me chronically stressed out, & obviously my cortisol levels through the roof & my adrenals shot to hell, & hormones All out of wack, sleep issues, the Whole gambit! All of this also kept me struggling with constant depression on top of it all.
Needless to say, my confidence level has been in the crapper for a Long time. Not much happiness & joy. I feel like I just gave up on myself on Every Level. I am praying that giving this new way of eating a try will help me get on a new path in life, & to feel good about myself again. Thanks so much! I REALLY NEEDED to watch your video today!

I can’t tell you how much I loved this video , please do more like this ! First congratulations on finding something that works for you , that you enjoy and most importantly helps you feel like YOU want to feel ! I have always lifted weights and it’s my favorite part of my workouts. I am a few years ahead of you but found myself in the SAME circumstance with the weight climbing despite my standard healthy living . I applaud you for the tone of this video which is so thoughtful . For myself I’ve gone vegan in the past year trying to see if it helps with a cholesterol level and I have lost some weight when NOTHING before allowed for the loss of even .5 of a pound . I could continue but my comment is already overly wordy . Just absolutely LOVED this video ! Have a beautiful day !

i also have a meat problem, it happened while eating a roast over 5 years ago and the texture got me so disgusted and everything since then, besides shrimp, chicken, fish has become sickening also. i cannot stomach eating chicken on the bone cuz i see all the veins etc blah!!
thank you for enlightening us about the macros based on goal weight! i have been doing it wrong!
also, stay away from the “friends” who want to sabotage you cuz they are worried you will look better than them. i have a friend i had to stop going out with because everything was an eating occasion with her and she would pawn all her high calorie “ poisons” on me…
fudge, cakes, pies etc and knew i couldn’t resist. i am not going to be the woman with the stomach hanging down to her knees!

Stunning ! That color on you - chefs kiss! I will research counting macros - I don’t weight myself anymore - it can be a major trigger for my mood - but I can feel in my clothes the menopausal gain in my stomach. And why do people think it is OK to make comments about being too skinny? They wouldn’t say - gee you are fat, but saying you look emancipated or are getting too skinny seems acceptable. It isn’t! When I am extremely stressed or having major anxiety over a life event, something happens to my system and I drop wright at an unhealthy rate - I can’t eat as I am nauseated all the time. The last thing I want to hear is I am too skinny and it doesn’t look good - I can’t control it (doctor can’t either). Now I am heavier than I like thanks to menopause and I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin - I am not doing it for anyone else! Thanks for an inspiring and hopeful video!

Good morning Miss Tammy, you hit it on the nail, everything you said about your weight gain and how you felt is describing me right now. We use to be gym rats about 8 years ago and when we moved their was only one gym, planet fitness, we joined then quit cause it wasn’t like the gym we loved, I know what a sorry excuse. Well here I am, I did track everything I ate on that MyFitnessPal app and loved that app. I’ve been saving all of these types of videos you have to watch them all at once, I was just waiting for me to set my mind I’m ready. I started walking at home on my treadmill for an hour each day, was going to do this for 2 weeks then start back at the gym, we are still members. Well my sister has dementia and I was looking back at her to make sure she was ok and my worst fear is falling down, yup I fell and rolled my ankle, so that put a kink in my walking. That was 3 weeks ago, I can’t get in to see my orthopedic till 3-27, I’ve been having still a slight pain on my ankle when I move it a certain way, not too bad but I’ve also have some hip pain not too bad but I want him to check me out and give me the red light so I can go to the gym. My mom was 93 and fell and broke her hip, she never recovered from her surgery and was gone in 3 months. Please keep making these videos, I need all your help and encouragement. Thank you.🥰

You have a distinct waistline now, you look great! I have the same issue, belly fat will not budge, been trying keto for a month and it does't agree with me since I don't like meat or fish either and it pretty much limits me to chicken, eggs and beans for protein. I've gained 3 pounds, but my waist has shrunk a few inches. So going to try the macro thing. At 68, I'm fortunate not to have osteoporosis, but I do have mild osteopenia in one hip. Started back at the gym doing TRX and weights which hopefully will keep my bones strong. I do not want to get osteoporosis, ever! It has devastated my husband's health, starting with compression fractures in his spine late 60's. He's totally disabled by it :( This was the best video I've watched on weight loss. Thank you Tammy for sharing!

Hi Tammy. I love that you are talking about body type and macros, because this is the key! I also dug into this a few years back to help with some extra pounds, but my BF just didn't believe me. He continued to count calories in MFP, but not macros and never lost weight. Then about 2 years ago I found Faster Way to Fat Loss - which is a lifestyle program. We joined together because they educate you on all of this and provide tools, resources and coaching, and he needed help learning about it. Since then he now is a believer and lost 30 lbs. Faster Way (Im not affiliated) is a great way for folks who don't want to do the research or just need help getting started. Love these videos, and you look fabulous!! You are such a motivator!!

I have always thought the "macro" way of losing weight was too complicated, however, after watching this video I am going to give it a try. First let me start by saying Holy shit you look absolutely stunning♥️♥️♥️and congratulations on your weight loss , you always looked beautiful.
I too have lost about 15 pounds, I started back back in August of this year with doing intermittent fasting and it’s been working for me … I eat the foods that I love , i don’t really workout due to my vestibular issue and vertigo and I also have a bad herniated neck ( 4 levels have crapped out)
I eat pretty clean , like you said 80 % and 20 % you live your life , everything in moderation is something we ALL can maintain . I do enjoy meats steaks, seafood etc … going through menopause actually was very easy for me , no night sweats , or hot flashes no mood swings I always felt good but I on occasion don’t sleep that great .. but that’s about it ,
Good luck on your weight loss journey much continue success to both of us ♥️and I’m 61 years old

Nice to hear about your journey with this issue. Everyone is so very unique. I've been in surgical menopause since I was 42 and stopped bio HRT at 48. 10 years later my body started changing for the worse. I found what balanced me is getting my adrenals back in shape, now at 59. Adrenals make 40% of our sex hormones. When we are under stress they only make cortisol. Stress/cortisol pumping during menopause or any other will make us fat and the fat redistribution with age is the worst. An aging endocrine system was the culprit for me. It turns a youthful body into old lady one in a short time. Like you, I am not a meat lover, just can't digest it well. My diet was always good and clean, lots of plant proteins over animal. It took about 8 months of working on adrenal optimization and I found my flow again. Flat tummy, small hips/thighs started making a comeback! Thorne Research has great supplements that assisted me. That, along with a lot of research! I want a strong body, but I want a powerful mind as I age even more so.

This is excellent advice. You are not just losing fat, by eating enough protein you can now build muscle with resistance training and avoid sarcopenia (frailty), increase your metabolism, increase your bone mass and just be much more functional in daily life. Resistance training is pretty much the fountain of youth but you must be consuming enough protein to repair those muscles and create more. I think most of women our age do not. Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great video! I totally understand how you can’t bear to think of what you are eating when consuming chicken. I’m the same, but I do eat red meat. I’m basically carnivore which has worked brilliantly for me. I am also 63 and was diagnosed with T2 diabetes 6 years ago but have no meds and have reversed it with very very low carb and I enjoy my way of eating which like you said is most important. I was diagnosed with IBS about 30 years ago but since this way of eating I have zero bowel issues and I feel fantastic! I have lost over 20 kgs and had people telling me ‘don’t lose anymore weigh’ which annoys me as I wasn’t aiming for weight loss, my focus is normal blood sugar and good health. People were just not used to seeing me at a normal weight! One thing - egg yolks are highly nutritious, not so the egg whites. I eat loads of eggs.
And yes totally agree about the weightlifting as opposed to cardio.

Yah, it's nearly impossible to eat that much protein without supplementing with whey powder.
I went from struggling to getting 1g 'high quality' protein per lb body weight ...which means 140g protein - huge amount of calories(!)...
And, where to fit in the veggies I love and the healthy fat I also need, plus a small amount complex carbs?
Impossible(!) ...without heavily supplementing with whey protein powder.
I've since come down off my high horse on the 1g protein per lb body weight - protein target - which is
Dr. Gabrielle Lyon's rule of thumb.
I now have a goal of 102 grams daily protein intake (still a challenge, but doable ;)),
after watching a Dr. Andrew Huberman podcast interview with Dr. Layne Norton, Phd, who is a practiced power lifter (former competitor) and also holds a Ph.D in nutritional sciences.
He suggested, in this interview, that a good guideline for dietary protein is at least 1.6g protein per kg body weight. I'm going with that - as it's much more doable for me, being a 2MAD eater, plus a
16:8 IF. I do lift, but by no means can I handle the # of calories required for 140g protein.
I don't have to stuff my face as much, ha ha, trying to reach that protein goal.
I think I finally realize why it seems impossible to pin down some of these doctors & fitness experts - who suggest 1g protein/lb body weight in these health/fitness podcast interviews, on what they eat in a day.
They are typically pretty vague about what they eat...because it is, imo, an impossible protein goal without being a power lifter; a crossfit competitor; an Olympian, or some type of elite athlete who requires all those extra calories - to actually consume that much protein in a day!

Tammy , thank you so much for sharing your weight lose journey. I have had a weight issue for my entire life. Have kept 96 lbs off since I was a teen. I agree, a “diet” needs to be something you can maintain for a lifetime. I don’t believe in cutting out food groups - it cannot be maintained . I too am discouraged with the menopause weight gain. I exercise 3-4 times a week. I love Jazzercise and Zumba. Jazzercise is 30 mins of strength training and 30 cardio. However, the older I get the more difficult it is to maintain my weight and lose belly fat. We must exercise for all the reasons you mentioned. For me the key is doing something you enjoy and you will keep it up. I am going to give your methodology a try because what I’m doing is simply not getting a result. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I look forward to your next video on this subject. Again many thanks 🙏

I'm a personal trainer and would like to point out the fact that if a person sees a reduction in body fat but not weight at any given time during their weight loss journey, it's because muscle weighs more than fat. Therefore, you're at a point where your body composition is "evening out". Now, once you pass this evening out of fat vs muscle, you'll start to see some weight loss again as the fat percentage continues to drop. Great job, Tammy! You look AMAZING! I just love watching your videos and have learned A LOT from you! Take care and happy holidays to you and Lou!

I say that too, I’m living to 100! I agree with you about it all. I exercise riding the stationary bike and weights at the ymca. I walk my dog, limit myself to 1400cal/day and watch my carbs. It works for me. You look great! Love that top! I’m buying it!❤️❤️❤️

This is so helpful! We have many of the same physical conditions and I also don’t eat meat (haven’t for 45 years). So many people are pushing carnivore and that is not for me. I t recently started paying more attention to protein and I think it’s helping. I’m so excited to try your approach! Thanks so much for sharing.

Protein is key...doesn't matter the form...just fit it all into your macro's! And a calorie deficit is necessary!!

So happy you did this video. I too struggle with fat around my middle. I exercise, 3 times a week and eat lots of salads and protein, but never loose more than 3-4 pounds. I am 5' 7" tall and weight 150 pounds. I am very interested in trying this method of weight loss. Thank you.

I’m very interested in this information!! Hoping we can make this a weekly or monthly video, specifically for the macros and the whole journey of weight loss and healthy life style. There’s so many of us menopausal women that could join this journey with you. I for one definitely in there I’ve put on 13 pounds since I’ve become menopausal and I’m done
    Thank you Beautiful Tammy!!

Tammy- I’m your picky eater twin! Literally everything you said you like/don’t like food wise- is totally me to a Tee! A couple of months ago I started taking liver capsules to get in more animal nutrition.

Tammy let me start off by saying you look fabulous! I was also confused about following the macros method but you described it where it makes sense. I will check out the info in your description below. Continue doing what you are doing for you! ❤
