I think it's cool to collect. I'm still butt hurt about how the purchase process for me went or didn't. lol Getting it ripped out of my cart as I entered my info for shipping was a real frustrating part of this release and to see so many TH-camr's (who I do enjoy watching 🙂) get it either with their own money or gifted from Analogue is nice for them, but still makes me a bit angry about it. @@JaredFarnum In all honesty, it's not build for a 7 year old kid, anyway, the handheld would be destroyed within days. You might look into something like the Miyoo Mini instead or any cheap emulation handheld.

I skipped on the glow in the dark pocket but have an original black pocket already. I just appreciate you speaking up for what's right. Helping bring awareness to an issue whether or not you got a refund what's more important is you helped others get a refund and you pointed out something that was wrong because it was wrong. I think if the color was more like the traditional glow in the dark pale whiteish-green color, I would want it more, lol
As for the plastic covering on the back: ya, I got the 2nd run of Pocket, and it had that kind of packaging

Great video, nice you were able to grab one yourself! I had to get mine off eBay unfortunately… as soon as I checked out within seconds of the release, it was sold out. It would of been nice for them to have a purchase limit of 1 per customer instead of 2 with the highly limited quantities. But for those who really wanted it ended up paying double like myself 😢
If you paid like $400 that isn't too bad considering its demand will go up in the future. Even the translucent super nt is worth like $750+ now on eBay. Anything discontinued from analog gains value.

I love the pocket and was upset I missed out on this. Like you, I thought it would be a cool version to have as a back up. Its a great little system. Probably best thing Analogue makes. Glad to see you digging it.
@@moontecker one can criticize company practices and still enjoy a product. Take music for example, I may not like everything that comes out of a musicians mouth but it doesn't stop me from enjoying certain songs by them. Same concept.

The black analogue pocket I've received last month had the back protection too. I believe it's a new standards for the shipping of their analogue pockets.
I was really close to pulling the trigger on this glow-in-the-dark variant, but I already have a MiSTer, and the d-pad complaints scared me away. Maybe next time!
Wow didn't know you could set up folder categories in the options. I'm glad you pointed that out. Now I can have a more streamlined organized pocket.
After spending the money to get an IPS screen and new shell for my GBA and then just bought a GBC fully modded, I could have gotten one of these. I also got EZ-Flash carts for both GBA and GBC but they work in the GB Player for GBA/GB/GBC games. At least I got original hardware. What looks really nice is the green backlit the AP can do. I think there are screens for the original DMG GameBoy but I don't have one. The GBC was more versatile though. Maybe I will someday get one of these but definitely with a dock.

I said from the start any limited edition or short supply item they sell should be 1 per person. You only open it up to more than one if there is not much interest and doesn't sell out for awhile... but the initial offering should always be 1 per person.

Thanks for showing that group setting. Drove me nuts that I have a huge list of cores and it sucks when you just want to reset the core and have to back all the way out.

Thanks for speaking up. Idk how much your youtube video helped or didn't help but I did get all $30 of the shipping fee refunded. I should be getting my pocket at some point today since it in USPS's hands and already on it's way here. I have never owned a Pocket and I have been wanting one for years. My wife decided to get me this one for my birthday that just passed and I am stoked. I have a good 50+ GameBoy carts so I can definitely make use of it.
The only thing I have heard of that is a negative is that some GBA games don't play as well on this because the L & R buttons are so damn close to the actual game cartridge slot and they can be a pain to use but only so many games use the shoulder buttons a ton. I also like that the Open FPGA thing is so awesome. SO I am kind of glad I waited all these years to get one.

It's very nice hope you enjoy it, the only reason I didn't pick one up was because I'm picky with colors, for example the white analogue pocket has a white bezel to match its color like the black has a black bezel but the fact that it glows is pretty cool!
The glow in the dark edition is one of the silliest ideas of anything I have ever seen.
Really want custom GB palettes and LCD grids for ROMs, but other than that amazing system!
Still hope one day Analogue makes a launch GBA shell for this. I understand why they went with this size and know you could mod one but that has always been my favorite way to put some hours on a Nintendo handheld, I use Vita for everything anyway but still would be awesome.
That would be nice for the L/R buttons, but I have to have the screen above the control area.
How's the D-Pad compare to the previous Analogue Pocket? Is it still terrible? 🙄

I never do this but I caved and bought one from a reseller for $325 i know i know you should't cave to those people but it was opened, guy said he only played it for 5or 6 hours and i took the risk. Ended up being flawless and came with everything including the box, i love it, honestly play it more than any of my modern consoles and PC.
I mentioned the glow in the dark pocket to a friend and he bought one from ebay immediately, then he traded it to me for a sealed spice orange, he doesn't plan on opening it and I had an extra spice orange for reasons. Worked out perfectly I wanted the glow the second I saw it. I tried getting it from analogue but captchas wouldn't work for me
I have been wanting this Analogue Pocket for quite a while now but very unhappy that they are “sold out.” My hold out is getting the funds up to get one plus I am wanting the TG16 adapter which I don’t like that I have to buy that with the Atari Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket adapters. I was on the fence about Atari Lynx, but I guess I’ll be stuck with it. Perhaps I should have been quicker since I do want to play my Game Gear on the go instead of trying to fix my Game Gear system. Hopefully I will get one of these bad boys at some point!

Maaaaaan, I kinda wish I was able to grab an Analogue Pocket, but they're pretty expensive and hard to get unless you want to pay double the retail price to scalpers on ebay.

rather than glow in the dark, which i don't think is practical because most people aren't playing this in the dark, they should have made a version with a clear case or maybe do a clear color case like with what Nintendo did with the N64 funtastic colors.
Hey Ron! Great video as usual. Just wanted to ask, have you changed the Neo Geo core from the one you get through the updater? Mine looks different to the one I see you use in the video, and a small amount of games have graphical glitches (Art of Fighting for example). Just wondering if you've found something new and better for Neo Geo on the Pocket?
Hey there, thanks! So there are only 2 Neo Geo cores for the Analogue Pocket, both by Mazamars. The Overdrive Core and the non Overdrive version. Overdrive is overclocked is all. But both cores are not exactly perfect, both have an open issue with Art Of Fighting with graphics glitches, its been mentioned to be being worked on to get fixed, but ive not seen anything in a while.

Ok. I know this has been somewhat been explained to me before, but I still haven't quite mentally grasped it. So, how does this compare to software emulation? Am I right that this device is using hardware emulation, and if so, are all platforms featured in the OS using hardware emulation? I don't quite understand how FPGA emulation works compared to software emulation. I apologize if I sound annoying.

Hey MLP!! That thing looks and runs epic! The glow in the dark feature really isn't that bad. Can't think of any other handheld that does that so they nailed it! Can it run n64, ps1, dreamcast?? I got one too but I prefer to collect it sealed, I'm just unfulfilled they didn't make an all green or different box for who will take it unopened
I got one but I think the GB Pocket has a better glow effect. Something about that classic glow in the dark color. For all I know that classic glow stuff may be toxic. Regardless I love the analogue pocket
I find the starry night quality much more appealing than solid glow. It looks like a natural radioactive mineral this way.

haven't gotten the cores working yet (dunno why i'm struggling) but i had a great time playing through my copy of zelda alttp for the GBA on it
got a nice little collection to play through on this thing, it really does look great, and it's hard to describe how nice the filters look on it

Meh I think I prefer the OG colours but this is kl for what it is. I wish I could get hold of just one Pocket, oh well hopefully they restock soon as they seem to of remedied their supply chain issues with the recent activity! We’ll see!

8 days ago Analogue was scamming their customers
I tried to get one and it allowed me to add it to my cart and then at checkout said it was unavailable. Would love to own one. Guess I have to stick to the steam deck for now.
I want to know how people were able to buy it. It went on sale at 8am, I was there at 7:45AM, waiting at the password screen. refreshed until 8:00AM when it showed up, added to cart and checked out at 8:00:05AM. Waited for 30 minutes while it said "you're in line to check out". I went on a second device and saw at 8:01 it was sold out. thirty minutes later it loaded the cart / checkout page saying out of stock. I emailed analogue they said keep an eye out for further releases. Like sure I can do that but I don't think it will help me get a device as I was there when it first launched and still missed out lol

That does look better than the Switch since the OG isn’t as nice in the hand and the lite is gimped from TV play.
They only refunded because they realized they pushed thier income stream too much and were getting too much heat online for it and just ignoring it wasn't going to make it go away

Their shipping charges are blasphemous. I should not pay $20 shipping for them to use a very mediocre carrier that took 2-3 weeks to deliver something that takes USPS (at most a $10 label) 3-5 business days to completely cross the USA. They are trying to squeeze every $ out of consumers by charging high for shipping while going as cheap as possible with a 3PL. This should not be this complex of a process.
By going direct with USPS, customers would have received their orders way faster and they easily could charge us 25-50% less than what we paid. And their 3PL ends up giving the packages to USPS anyways, so it just screams $ hungry.
Be happy that shipping in USA is only 20$. Everyone outside the US has to pay 60$ or more for shipping 🥲 But I agree, Analogue seems to make extra money with setting the shipping cost so high 👀

The shade of green on this is hideous. The glow in the dark gimmick also looks poorly done compared to the gameboy its inspired by. Cheap, splotchy plastic that doesnt even have a good uniform glow in the dark. It's crazy to me that people are buying into such a cheap looking model and annoying that they're not fulfilling orders for people that bought the original better looking pockets pages ago. Why waste time and resources on this, such a silly company.
