2014 / 2015 Volkswagen Passat Review and Road Test DETAILED

- Join me as I check out Volkswagen's biggest Passat ever: the North American Passat. (OK, so they sell it in China too) This generation Passat was designed to compete head on with the Camry, Accord and Fusion when it comes to interior space unlike the last generation Passat in America that was always a half step smaller than the competition. In the process the Passat's driving dynamics have been dulled, but does the average shopper mind? Let me know in the comment section below.
While other VWs get expressive fascias, VW's sedan line is pure conservative German design. We have a three-slat horizontal grille up front, a flat character line and little detaining on the side and nothing terribly expressive out back. The adjectives that came to my mind were simple, elegant, and unemotional. No matter how you park it, the Passat never strikes a pose that would offend a conservative mid-size shopper. If you want Euro flair, VW would be happy to sell you a CC which sports more aggressive bumpers, more chrome and sexier tail lamps. hile some in the press have called the Passat boring, I would posit the sedate lines will help the Passat age more gracefully than some of the competition, most notably the Sonata and Camry, however I think the Fusion and Mazda6 are more attractive and dramatic.
Mid-size shoppers demand expansive rather than expensive cabins, and VW took note when they redesigned the sedan for the 2012 model year. Our Euro friends may notice that this doesn't look quite like the Passat you know in Europe, and that's because the American Passat isn't the same car as the Euro Passat anymore. Although both Passats are related, the NMS Passat gets a 4-inch body stretch and a 3.7-inch wheelbase stretch, the beneficiary being the rear seat which goes from cozy in the Euro model to ginormous in the American model. Although the numbers would indicate that the Fusion and Passat's rear legroom are similar, the devil is in the details of how car makers measure and the Passat is the clear winner here.
Sadly Camcord shoppers place fuel economy, electronic doodads and rear-seat leg room higher on their list than squishy dash bits and VW was happy to oblige. As a result the Passat's plastics are attractive to look at but just as mainstream to feel as the competition slotting in below the new Accord and well ahead of the aging Korean competition. Speaking of attractive, I find the traditional "single bump" dashboard layout to be a refreshing change from the massive dashboards that are creeping into every mis-sized sedan lately. Front seat comfort proved excellent for long car trips, tying with the Accord and Fusion while the rear seats, although large, weren't as comfortable as Honda's sedan.
he Americanization of the Passat has had an effect on the way VW's large sedan drives. The difference is most obvious if you drive the VW CC and the Passat back-to-back. The CC has a more solid and connected feel and the handling limits are higher. That's not to say the Passat will let down the VW faithful with Camry-levels of grip, but in the pursuit of higher fuel economy narrower tires we required. In the pursuit of rear leg room, the wheelbase and chassis had to get longer making the American sedan drive larger than the European model. The result is a Passat that slots below the Mazda6, Accord Sport and some levels of Fusion in terms of handling, but notably above the Camry and Korean competition which have less refined suspension manners.

You finalized my decision to purchase this vehicle. Good job. I also subscribed
Thanks for another great review -I wish everyone was as thorough as you in their reviews...
It's the little things that count and I'm really really loving the little size comparison "ruler". Really puts things in perspective.
The numbers for the Accord are for the 2.4L Accord, not the hybrid model. I averaged nearly 50 MPG in the hybrid.
I average 48.5 mpg on my 2013 Passat 2.0 TDI. Plenty of range and no batteries!
+G Mezack Do you still have your Passat TDI? How do you like it?
A great car that now has 62,000 miles on it. Recently took it to East coast and averaged 49mpg. No problems at all. Tune ups about $235 every 10K miles if you have them at VW dealer.
+G Mezack Awesome, enjoy. I will continue to enjoy mine.
I love the "refrigerator white" color name.
Just ain't so buddy. My daughter and I have identical 2014 passats, one with 1.8T, and mine with 2.5. The power seems the same, but the 2.5 gets at least 2 mpg better mileage. I have driven both round trip between my homes in Charleston SC, and Ky, from city to 90 mph, and the 2.5 always gets better mileage. With 4 passengers, and a trunk of luggage, the 2.5 will walk up hills much better than the 1.8T. I guess I'll be keeping my old Passat a long time.
No question about it. Yours are the most informative reviews out there!
If they got rid of the idiotic center column divider, the off-center steering wheel would not be a problem because the seat could be better aligned with it, and the driver would have more leg and knee room. Alas, every car manufacturer now wants you to believe you are piloting a fighter jet instead of providing for your driving comfort.
Exactly 🤣🤣like I’m Batman with all them buttons in the cars like wtf
Naveen, I'd say the Mazda6 has the edge in both areas.
Alex on Autos Thanks Alex.
Alex on Autos just discovered your reviews. AWESOME man.. Great work . What is your opinion on the bmw 3 series ? I do like bmw but honestly for the price of a 3 series 35-40,000 i don't feel your getting your moneys worth.
NYGiants Champs value is obviously the big issue with luxury brands in general, but the BMW is often less expensive than a comparably fast Audi or Mercedes. If you're after the better value, then you should look at the Cadillac ATS, Lexus IS and Volvo S60.
A great review then I'm thinking about getting one of these the only thing set me back is the high cost of maintenance never had a Volkswagen before when they say high cost can you give me an idea what exactly is the difference between the Volkswagen and other brands
J Rock It's hard to say exactly, but you should expect the cost of maintenance and repairs to be 10-% higher or so.
Bro you nailed this review💯👍
Very thorough and detailed review. Thanks for going in depth with the interior. Love your voice too :)
FWIW, my 2015 Passat S 5 speed MT 1.8TSI has averaged 31.7 mpg between Sept 2015 and March 2016 inclusive. This is based on recording every gasoline refill, where the worst I recorded was 24 mpg (maybe I was hot rodding or downtown a lot) and the best was 40.1 on a trip from Minnesota to Maryland and back. I also recorded a 39.6 and several 38 mpg entries on the trip. There were also wintertime metro area fills of 28 mpg. My most recent fill was 33.7 mpg (Mar 14th) with a 15.7 gallon fill. I try to drive economically but I am not slow and am often out-accelerating others, taking advantage of the low end torque.
Picked up a '15 Limited w/38K mi and V-Dub's 2 year CPO after 6 months of research (yes I am that OCD). My price point was $20k or
I bought the 2015 pass at sport. White black top and two tone interior. I work for a VW dealer. And the reason why a bought this car is because all my customers are happy with their pass at 1.8t and they told me that they are getting 45 mpg on the 1.8t . 😃freeway
+Andres Ozo Are you advertising? My 2015 Passat S (1.8T + manual) got 40.2 mpg from Minneapolis to Baltimore, and that is based on the #2 (long term) average which was zeroed when I began the trip. At 75 mph, my #1 averages were often around 37.5 mpg and the reduced speed limits due to road construction boosted the mpg. I suppose that someone could average 45 mpg if they drove 60 mph and no faster, but it certainly isn't real world. For road trips, plan on about 38 mpg (using cruise control) and the 18.5 gallon tank allows use of Gas Buddy to let you pass over the expanses of higher priced gas stations and fill up at the bargain areas. Huge range.
Around town at home I get 30 to 35 mpg, and I do try for better economy by being light on the gas and using cruise control. But sometimes I just floor it for a little while (that's fun) and that's where I get my low end economy. Not quite 5,000 miles on the car yet.
At 6 speed low rpm on the freeway
Andres Ozo I have the exact same one!
Alex please review the 2016 VW Passat as well, thank you!
The mpg you get in your routes of driving with these sedans compared to numbers from the epa or consumer reports is a testament to how driving style, conditions, routes, speed, gearing etc is really what must be taken into consideration when buying a car for the mpgs
It is indeed. Usually I mirror the EPA fairly well but on occasion one really surprises me.
Love my 1.8 passat. Beats my gfs subaru legacy. Turbo is a gamechanger
Great Review, very thorough. As a commuter car what would you prefer the Jetta or the Passat? How is the overall reliability ?
Not sure how many people caught it... it is some epic singing at the end.
I always wonder how many people watch to the end. Now I know ;-)
Alex on Autos Wow an easter egg:-).
Sounds like something my kids my enjoy - what's the name of the song?
Bryan Siegfried /watch?v=-EpWOzIzhf8
Kind of gives you an idea of how old Alex is :P
Bryan Siegfried
It's "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" by "Middle of the Road." Although I am a child of the '70s, this song pre-dates me by quite some time. My best friend's mom had a conversion van with a stuck casette tape with this song on it. Ah, the memories.
Another great review.
I will take this Passat over the Mazda 6 and Accord because of it's turbo engine, space and european ride and quality
Lmao. This car is made in America or American buyers and you think this has European ride and quality 🤣
Appreciate this review as I'll participate in the VW Golf / Golf GTI event soon and have been looking forward to the 1.8T reviews first.
Truth be told, the 1.8T with that ample torque and the true automatic transmission sounds like an excellent sub 2000 lbs trailer hauler. Wonder who'll release a transmission cooler first.
And let us not forget, APR already has a premium fuel chip setup to crank up the horsepower to almost GTI levels.
Do you have a Passat that has been chipped ? If so, could you let us know how well it works...
Alex, are you planning to submit a detail review of the VW Tigaun? I do like your detail videos and a objective view of the car during everyday use. Keep up the good work.
I will actually. It looks like I'll have it in about 5 weeks.
Tourque at low RPM and no AWD = a nightmare when traveling in winter weather
Alex, first off I want to say how much I love your reviews and that they are impeccably detailed. Moving on to the passat, I see it as a much more refined and mature option when compared to the other offerings in the segment.
I test drove one and found the turbo engine to be very peppy. I'm on the verge of upgrading to a midsize sedan and debating between the Passat, the accord, the Mazda 6 and the Nissan Altima.
I'm very intrigued by your observed Fuel economy numbers, and I would like to know some more details about the work trip. What speed were you cruising at? Between 60-65? Or 70-80?
One thing that really bothers me about the Passat is the lack of technology, especially in the lower trims. For example I was looking into the Wolfsburg edition which gets me Pleather, nice alloy wheels and heated seats. But what it still misses out on, just like other Lower trims, is the center gauge full information cluster. Meaning it does not show fueled economy numbers and other info on that display, just basic info. As a result, there are no steering wheel mounted buttons on the right side. This kind of petty stuff to reduce costs really bothers me as I feel it's a great feature to improve your driving style and know more about the car in general. Please let me know how you feel about this and any comments you have.
Also one suggestion that I would like to make is that could you include residual values (36 mo, 12k lease) in your reviews. As for a buyer like myself it does make an impact on what car I lease, if I plan on buying it at the end. Most manufacturers have these numbers ready for their base model leases. To point out, the Passat had a rather low residual value compared to Camcord or the Mazda 6 in this segment. About 2.5k lower. The base 1.8T S has a residual of $11200 while the others hover around $13500 after a 36 mo 12k lease. Please comment on this difference as well.
I know this is a longer than typical reply, but I do hope that you respond to this as I'm a huge fan and respect your opinion.
I was referring to the multi information display between the speedometer and tachometer, when I said "centre information cluster". Just a clarification.
You can go to KBB or Edmunds and compare total cost of ownership (TCO or in KBB 5 year cost to own under research tools). In breakdown you see residual values. The difference is pretty big although KBB doesn't have yet the 1.8T but I still expect huge total cost difference over 5 years.
One thing I'd miss in Passat are latest safety features like lane departure warning/correction and collision detection.
Thanks for the great review! Big difference for me is that my base accord has a big screen mounted very high in the dash(very easy to glance at) as well as standard dual zone. We did own an '07 turbo wagon and I see what you mean about the direction change VW has taken. Alex...is the driving dynamic and engine really that good? VW seem to have really hit the mark in those two categories! By the way we achieved 34.5 mpg for 700 miles in our '14 accord lx fully loaded with 4 people and a dog round trip from Vegas to Provo ( with a lot of passing)you need all the info!
Most mid-sized sedans handle well, so in some ways it is a shade of grey kind of issue. It is noticeably more agile than a Camry, but the difference is smaller with the Fusion, Accord and Mazda6.
Very nice review ! Thanks for sharing.
Great video as always, very helpful.
Hey Alex, love your videos. Will you be doing a full review of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis anytime soon?
I will be. I should have it in about 6 weeks or so.
excellent review
+TheEnzoferrari12345 I also like Alex's reviews a lot, and hearing him signing "chirpa-chirpa cheep cheep" makes me glad he is an excellent car reviewer. But some professional voice training may make him a good singer too.
i am guessing the one Alex drove here wasn't afflicted with the terrible throttle tip-in of the one i drove, which had a full INCH of dead space in the pedal travel before acceleration came on with alarming alacrity, very hard to modulate part-throttle response in that one.
Thanks Alex i just bought a 1.8 sel and love the car..
Great review as always. When are you going to review the Infinity Q50 with DAS?
Hopefully in about 2 months.
Hi Alex,
The non-hybrid accord has a 2.4L engine; hybrid has a 2.0L. When discussing fuel efficiency, it says "Accord 2.0". Are the fuel efficiency numbers for the hybrid?
very good review!
I think the 2015 Toyota Camry is now one of the best looking cars in this segment.
Alex, can you make a view for car audio system? I want to know what is the best stock speaker brand for a car under 60K. Thanks.
Hi Alex, I thinking of replacing the econ-box type car that I have always driven with either a Chevy Impala or the VW Passat. The Parkway I travel has short entrance/exit ramps, so I want a car with good acceleration/handling. I think the Impala will be nice on the road and will be fine for entering the parkway, but I'd be losing about 10 mpg with every gallon I go use. What do you think?
I have a 2014 Vw Passat Tsi turbo 1.8 engine. The engine is burning 1 qt of oil every 400 miles. Please help, need information ASAP !
I thought the Accord had a 2.4 liter four..
Oops. You're right. I had the Accord Hybrid on my mind for some reason.
Good explain Alex
Alex, l would eventually like to see a review on the 2015 Chrysler 200, I want to see if Chrysler has a serious mid-size competitor now.
I hope to have one soon. I have driven it several times but scheduling one has been tricky with my schedule. Chrysler has approved it I just need to get in it. It should be about 6 weeks away.
Alright, that sounds good. Thanks for the speedy response.
Horrible cars. Transmission is horrible
Great Car
Don't forget resale value, you might make up most if not all your original investment in the TDI engine. Great review as always!
Not if you compare to Honda/Toyota. Compare the TDI SEL to Accord EX and depreciation is 6K more. See KBB total cost of ownership:
Accord EX: $35214
TDI SEL: $45040
The 2.5L SEL actually shows slightly lower cost of ownership. It might be better for TDI if you drive much more but with the new cheaper 1.8T I don't think it will pay back the premium for most.
The traditional parking brake is looking old fashioned to me nowadays
Good Review
good review , thanks
Engine comes out of Mexico and the transmission comes out of Japan. I notice when in "S" my 2015 automatic whines a litttle bit. I'm not sure if that is normal but my 2013 diesel's dual clutch automatic never whined.
Hi Alex, can't wait to see your review on 2015 VW GTI
Alex, just a clarification. When you rate the front seats 7/10 and the rear 9/10, are you implying that the rear seats are significantly MORE comfortable than the front, or that they are just very comfortable compared to other rear seats in midsize sedans?
It is my comparison to other mid-sized sedans. I think the front seats aren't as comfortable as the Accord, Altima, 200 and certain Camry models (upper trims) but the rear seats are tops in the segment tying with the Accord.
HEy Alex I bought VW passat after watching your reviews. I am facing issues with the doors freezing up and then the electronics of the 2015 VW acting crazy - sometimes the backup camera does not come up and the door sensors give wrong updates on the dashboard - In the pastfew weeks the doors did not open up on the 2015 Passat SE trim :-( :-(
I have a 2015 Passat LE and have experienced the rear view camera not work a few times. Not sure exactly what causes it but it seems to happen randomly
Nice review Alex. I really like the Passat, Golf and GTI, but I'm still not sold on VW's reliability.
I agree. I would like the gas mileage of a good diesel, but I might instead head for a Subaru, Honda, or Toyota.
+kwk1 The April 2015 Consumer Reports magazine gave the 2014 Passat all solid red dots except for Audio where it got a solid black dot. The Golfs do well. Test driving the 1.8T/manual really sold me. I liked the drive train much better than the 2015 Accord LX with 6 speed manual and I chose a car for the drive train. I really like this Passat. That magazine has an error where they give high praise the the 1.8T in the Passat section and then are negative about the 1.8T in the Jetta section and it is the same engine. I called Consumer Reports, they acknowledged the inconsistency and their online version is corrected with praise for the 1.8T engine.
Hi Alex, I am considering the 2014 Passat TDI but I am concerned because I've read some pretty bad stuff regarding reliability of VWs in general. I've never owned one myself but wanted to get your take on this. Are VWs money pits?
Well VW isn't exactly the most reliable brand but in reality the cost difference between the average Passat and average Camry long term isn't expected to be all that large. I would say that in general the car you like the most is the better car to get regardless of the overall reliability. The happier you are the less likely you are to replace the car "early." Since the cheapest car to own is the car you already own, this means your costs will usually be lower in the long term.
Alex on Autos
Cool, thanks for the reply.
This car needs an update fast !!!!!
whys it say year 14-15? didnt these changes begin in 2012
Thanks for another great video. Perhaps during your video you can throw up your ratings from their competitors i.e.: Accord 8/10 or Mazda 6 9/10 etc. for each category.
Weren't you wrong on led headlamps and cruise control
thanks for the response.. Most VW tranny's are not serviceable, will ask the dealer sales person when I get closer. if the new ones have a filter and a pan to drop, that would be a plus ...rented an Avalon in November.. drove it to florida, I would classify it smooth in the first part of the suspension travel the last half pretty firm...the last Passat I drove was the late 90's..... it was very smooth . I think Toyota copied the germans in terms of rebound , compression dampening and spring rates..not near as firm as a BMW though.
Unless VW has had Aisin change the filter, it will be the same used in the other TF80SC transmissions which you can buy.
Can't get one the headlights to stay on.
US base engine - 1.8 TSI 170 HP
EU base engine - 1.4 TSI 122 HP
Isn't it unfair? :)
Hey ...liked your video but you have to remember that if the cars have turbos or superchargers they are not naturally
Aspirated engines ...... Naturally aspirated engines do not have power adders
Nice car and I'd consider one if I were in the market right now. But why a little 1.8L engine with a turbocharger? Why not just do what Toyota and Honda did, and build a nice, quiet, normally aspirated 2.5L 4 cylinder engine with 180hp? Simpler and no turbo to worry about.
fantom58 Because it increases power and efficiency, this is why Honda and Toyota are releasing their own small turbo engines.
But the Toyota 2AR-FE (2.5l) and Honda K24W2 (2.4l) are just as powerful and efficient (maybe more so in Honda's case) as the 1.8L turbo and are normally aspirated. Toyota's and Honda's turbos will probably replace their 3.5L v6 engines.
fantom58 The 1.8T has a better torque curve which improved hill climbing among other things. We know that both are going to offer 2.0L turbos and Honda will likely offer a smaller 1.5-1.8L turbo in the near future,
Engine taxation in Europe and Asia! Under 2L is just cheaper!
2nd best handling car after Mazda 6, you must be kidding Alex, I have driven the European Passat for about 900 miles and thats the 2.0 TSi version with 200 Hp and even thats not as good handling as a Ford Fusion, at best Passat is 3rd best handling car
1. Mazda 6
2. Fusion
3. Passat
It really depends on which Fusion you get. This Passat competes with the base Fusion and I didn't find that base model to be all that out on the road. Higher end trims I will agree, but the 1.8T vs the Fusion 2.5, the Passat was the better mover.
Alex on Autos Sure but have you driven the 2014 Fusion with 1.5l ecoboost petrol ?
Just drive 1 of that and compare with Passat
the real treat is the Fusion with 1.6l ecoboost with MANUAL Transmission, that was rated at 178 hp and 184 ft pound of torque and mated with manual that car was so good that I would even take that over a Mazda 6 because of low speed torque which Mazdas 2.5 lacked, also the 1.6 ecoboost manual Fusion felt considerably lighter than 2.0 turbo as well
the 2.0 turbo was powerful but it was damn heavy and actually f t wasnt with the AWD the 2.0 turbo would have been gr8, but the Fusion xcept for the 2.5l engine is pretty much better driving than Passat in all other trims, despite that the Fusions ride quality 2 was amazing, it was sure better than Mazdas stiff ride and almost as stiff as European Passat, still compliant and cabin insulation was unbelievably good, Even better than American Passat but a tie with Euro version
jandj Godwin
I have and there is a review on it on my channel from a while back. The 1.6L Ecoboost doesn't have as advantageous of a torque curve as VW's new 1.8L engine, it is most noticeable at the low end. Ford's 2.0L turbo really shouldn't be compared to VW's 1.8, it should be compared against the VW 3.6 V6 which is compares well with.
Alex on Autos Yaa, sure but the point is which is a better handling car, not the engine, performance is different handling is different(also note that the new 1.5l ecoboost has much more low end torque than the 1.6 ecoboost it replaces, even at 1600 rpm the 1.5 picks up wheras the 1.6 picks up only after 1900 rpm)
In terms of how responsive the steering is, the body roll, body control, the torque vectoring etc make the Fusion an easy winner over Passat,
the Passat is a very neutral handler, but Fusion is admittedly FUN to drive wheras Passat is more like an AWD car trying to stick to road, the Fusion is like a FWD car that behaves like a rear drive, just like Focus ST
jandj Godwin The engine is important only in that the base Passat is the 1.8T model and the base Fusion is the naturally aspirated 2.5L model. The tire size changes base on the engine selection and the trim. In 2.5L base trim which the Fusion doesn't handle as well as the Passat. Even in 1.5 or 1.6L turbo trim I still place the Passat ahead. Now the 2.0L turbo Fusion wins when you compare it to the Passat V6.
Five speed manual?! Baby steps right VW? Come on. You used to be my favorite brand, but now.....
It's all cost. The 6-speed is cheaper I'm told and it helps keep the base Passat price as low as possible.
cassiocm Even with the 5-speed manual they seem to get better mileage than some other manufacturers with 6. And it has the same or better mileage on the highway than automatic. Look at Honda Fit which has notoriously lower highway mileage with a stick than an automatic. It offends my intelligence that Honda put a 6-sp stick this year that has the same high gear ratio as the last year's 5-sp, and both are much worse than an automatic for highway mpg.
Please note, we are not talking about average or city mpg, where skill matters. This is about highway mpg, in other words, driving in top gear all the time. No skill involved, and never should the manual be worse than automatic.
Good
1.8???? What a dawg.
2016 and 2015 the same?
Time to test a new 2015 GTI
It won't be the GTI, but I will have the Golf very soon.
:(
I was just at a VW 2015 GTI vs Golf track mini-event (part of the Montreal Grand Prix events this weekend), and I have to say the 1.8 Golf was much more fun for some odd reason. My friend drove both that day and agreed that the test time and track were too short, and maybe it was the differing track layouts or any number of things, but we were both really impressed with the regular Golf handling and push through four mini-laps. Looking forward to your review as always and regardless.
Just wondering is the Malibu so bad you never even compared its mpg to the Passat.
Not really, I just decided to limit the comparison to the top 4 in teh segment because otherwise I'd have to include the Kia, Hyundai, Chrysler, Subaru, Mazda, etc and then the review would have been even longer. I usually try to limit the comparisons to the 4 best sellers in the segment for the sake of time.
How do you think the Malibu compares to the Passat. I am talking 2.5 Ltz trim. I am thinking HP a little better in the Chevy but I am guessing its heavy.
The 1.8T is more driveable than the 2.5 in the Malibu thanks to the low end torque. The Chevy handles well, but not as well as the Passat. Personally I think the Malibu has a bit more personality however.
Nasty transmission hump. The off center steering wheel can be somewhat adjusted with the toe otherwise you have to remove the bottom steering wheel cover off and the airbag. Getting a dealer to do this won't be easy.
It's not off centre rotationally, the steering column itself is shifted a little more than an inch to the right of the seat's centre line.
Alex on Autos Great review! Some interesting points that I've not seen anywhere that I would definitely be keen on checking out - Offset wheel and lack of front seat bottom adjustability. Love that backseat though and the 60/40 split WITH passthrough that would allow Lacrosse stick to fit while keeping the smelly equipment and bag nicely tucked away in the trunk away from our noses.
Great review. As to the car, that's gotta be the most bland, forgettable choice in the segment. And what's with the trans tunnel…in a FWD car? They aren't crazy enough to put the exhaust pipes in there, are they?
I didn't get under the Passat to inspect but usually the exhaust does go through the tunnel. The tunnel serves two main purposes, you put things in there so that the overall ground clearance can be better vs the ride height and it is also used to provide additional rigidity to the body.
🐥Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep! 🐤
european Passat from 2006 looks better than this so called american 2015
The Ford Fusion has the ugliest rear end I've seen in a while.
making me dizzy...
I think I could live with the Passat, but the styling is just too vanilla for my taste.
The seats are really shitty Alex, I been driving this cars a lot, your back WILL hurt after a while, the whole car is a shitcar. You will not norice it directly, we have 7 cars in the fleet, all of them are always broken somewhere. we have shifter the automatic one all of cars, 2nd time coming up. Have you tried the full headlight? not that good is it? shitcar
Bought mine new 2014 SE/ with roof. My 7th V.W., most reliable, squeak and rattle free car I've ever owned.
Loved my 2011 GTI with DSG until I hurt my back. This Passat replaced rear brakes at, 110,000 miles and drivers wiper blade. I currently have 129, 673 miles original plugs and coils. Did VW trans filter/screen twice, did 3 brake fluid changes, Did coolant replacement twice.
64,000 miles on my 2nd set of tires (Pirelli P7 A/S plus).
It isn't GTI fun, but when you learn how to finesse the turbo vs. stomping on the throttle, it performs beautifully.
Nice machine, and made in Chattanooga Tennessee! Drove on I95 to Fla, avg mpg 42 for a a 1.8 EA888 Gen3!
Can't believe how few people get the quality and value this car provides. Mine is paid off too!
