The 3D models and their animations are honestly fantastic for an N64 game! Of course a game like this has the advantage of only having to render two characters with their moves and a simple stadium, but the quality is not to be taken for granted.

Pokemon Yellow made the Petit Cup fascinating: you could catch a lot of powerful Pokemon at level 15 or 20, including Slowbro, Dragonair, Rhydon, to say nothing of using the level 20 slot for an Alakazam.
Same… my friends and I had so much fun with this game. I had a ton of fun playing by myself too. This was the last game for me that made pokemon a social game. This made it easier to trade and made battles legit. Pokemon craze was dope.
Pokemon Stadium on R2 is surprisingly tough even if you have a decent team imported. I learned so much about gen 1 pokemon battling from Stadium back in the N64 days.
I especially love that Fisher in Pika Cup who has a literally unbeatable level 20 Alakazam with rentals. Even if you freeze the Zam you still almost always lose the fight as a result.
@@SaltedNeos My favorite was Gambler. His design was brilliant. I think in Poke Ball his pokemon all did terrible attacks that hit 2-5 times. In Great Ball they all did Psywave. In Ultra Ball they all did Metronome, and in Master Ball they all did Horn Drill or Fissure.
@@warpuppy4528 To make it even dumber, they also gave gamblar paralysis moves to make the OHKOs more consistent (Because gen 1 decided speed was a great stat to balance OHKO moves around)

Man I absolutely loved this game as a kid. As much as I loved the gameboy games, it was so much cooler seeing your favorite Pokémon in 3d and seeing their actual moves.

I love the N64 so much, might be my favorite console. It was the first console my family got, besides my mom having a SNES for pretty much Tetris and Mario World before she met my Dad, which I also love. Gonna have to dig them out and play them again

I remember when I was a kid I almost beated R2 Prime cup masterball with rentals, but my last pokemon, Starmie, died vs the last oponent pokemon, mew, which had only 30 or so hp left, I just had to hit it with surf to win, starmie outspeeds mew, used surf and I said "that's it, I finally defeated this thing", nex thing is see on the screen is Surf, a 100% accurate move, missing mew! that haunted me for months, later i learned that there is a glitch in first gen that makes 100% accuracy moves fail 1 out of 256 times.
the 1/256 miss chance was fixed for pokemon stadium, so in theory moves like surf should never miss. A speed runner missed thunderbolt (another 100% accurate move) during a full game run of stadium, which is leading to theories on how stadium fixed the 1/256 miss.The working theory is that there is a 1/65535 chance to miss a 100% accurate move due to something about short intergers that I don't understand. You might have stumbled upon this same chance back then
You mentioned voice acting, let's remember this game was also voice translated in Europe!! I think this was the first and only time I heard Spanish on the N64.

13:29 What would have happened is since it was a draw and not caused by explosion or self destruct is it would have counted as a loss for you 13:45 Maybe not a great deal for you as you don't play the cartridge games, but the idea of most of the gifts was they were supposed to be sent to your cartridge as they helped you get Pokemon you couldn't really get in the game because you had locked them out. The possible gifts were Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander (so you could get the other two starters you didn't choose) Ominite and Kabuto (So you could get both the Fossil Pokemon from Mount Moon) and Evee. Evee was there Red and Blue had FOUR WAYS Evee could Evolve (Jolteon, Flareon, Vaproeon or remain an Evee) and only gave you access to ONE Evee during the game.
the best announcer line is when you hit a Pokemon really hard but its not super effective or a crit i can;t even remember the line i just remember it got you so pumped.
Great game. Still own it. This game was the only pokemon game I ever played...until 2014 when I bought a 3DS and Pokemon Y. I still think Pokemon Stadium has the best animations, includes my favorite pokemon, and that announcer gets me hypedddd.
Overall liked the video but as a note for improvement for stadium 2 whenever that is I would recommend trying to line up the commentary to the game play a little more. Sometimes the commentary lined up very well other times the commentary didn't line up until the end of the battle. Likely this was caused by the games slow pacing for the fights due to long animations not sure if stadium 2 the gameplay could be slightly sped up or clipped as it may look weird. I understand this would take significantly more effort. I know some channels do not line up all gameplay but for the context of the series it would be better suited quality wise as the intention is the complete the game and this is inva sense the story. Just my thoughts though
You can plug a game boy color game into your controller and transfer that evee you won beating rival. I just wish I knew where my og evvee is from so many years ago
This series seems really easy for the fact that back in the day you didn't have Internet to tell you where to go. Also there were books but who bought the books anyway unless you are 100% completing something, Or using it as a collector's item.
paralysis is only 25% chance to not move in gen 1. i thought 50 sounded kinda high, it also cuts your speed by 75% which obviously lowers your crit chance too, although they may have changed that in stadium. i know they did change/fix a few things for this game
I ran these to get all the Pokémon you need the opposite game boy game to get. I knew from your Pokémon choices that pikachu with surf would catch you off guard the first time lol

The trick to the diglett game is to only aim for the top and bottom rows, that way you know to only use a max power or minimum power throw and you only have to aim side to side!

@@SaltedNeos Body Slam was an appropriate move for Gambler to have. It had something like a 30 percent chance to inflict paralysis.

Pokemon Stadium is sick! And getting through Round 2 is no joke... I had the most trouble with Round 2 Level 50-55s. Was so fun!

Pretty dam sure hes playing all them on real carts. He had to get something special to play all the Japanese releases also.
Original N64 modded with the N64 Digital HDMI mod. And I use an Everdrive to play the games
