I probably will never meet you guys, and you'll probably never know how much your theocast ministry has helped me over the last couple of years. Thank you so much.

I love what John said. You feel your flesh is still in the grave. 😢The spirit is alive faith.

I am listening to this waiting for my husband to have a heart procedure. I just buried my mother last week. I feel far from God and don’t feel like reading my Bible. I cling to God’s goodness and His faithfulness. Thank you for this encouragement!

If any Christian is honest, this is how we all feel at times. Thank you for being real. The only way we are going to get through this earthly life is by keeping our eyes on Jesus. He is the author and finisher of our faith.

This podcast among the many others you do is so life-giving I’m so weary and discouraged and apathetic and cold. I love your coding, John Newton he’s one of my favorites the thought that the great man had great struggles encourages me. I am a sinner Saint but I have to believe in these discouraging times that I am loved and healed by Jesus whether I feel it or not.

Thanks’ brothers. Your transparency is discipling others. It’s servant leadership to be open, and kind, and encouraging, and loving. You are leading, not just by word, but by example.

You both are speaking the truth of the call in ministry and the pain that comes with the joys. We MUST rest in Christ and always refocus our attention and gaze on him. Refreshing men.

one of newtons prayers...I asked the lord i might grow in faith and love and every grace, might more of his salvation know and seek more earnestly his face. twas he who taught me thus to pray and he i trust has answered prayer. but it has been in such a way as almost drove me to despair. i hoped in some favoured hour at once hed answer my request and by his loves constraining power subdue my sins and give me rest. instead of this he made me feel the hidden evils of my heart and let the angry powers of hell assault my soul in every part.

Listen to this is nice. Not so much struggling with feeling far from God, my struggle is knowing who He is and hating Him for my circumstances. Life without faith is pointless but sometimes God seems like a real jerk.

Where does that John Newton quote come from?

  • @316soulja

I was on fire for a long time. I was a tither and a worshipper but far from perfect. I fought anxiety disorder for years. I was doing well on the time I mentioned. I got married and I guess with the stress my life fell into the trash. My anxiety drove me into the trash. I fought for months with different medications and suicide thoughts for months and I feel like I'm not even saved anymore or the holy spirit left me. I've never felt so alone and dead that I don't know what I did to cause this. It's destroyed my marriage and damaged my wife even more than what she has already been threw with her life she blames herself.

What does it mean to be reformed but also a free-gracer? I thought all reformers believed in works based salvation. What's the distinction here?

Is 99% of the Christian walk just faking it till you make it and just barely getting by?

    • @stephengoff2189

No friend, it’s just acknowledging and accepting what God says about you and his promises/love towards you, over what the enemy says, over what sin says.
Living in truth that God loves us in spite of our sin motivates us to lean into God and not lean out.
Christ is our justification, he is our sanctification, and he will be our glorification.
We encourage and comfort one another with the comfort we have received ourselves, the Holy Spirit is the comforter, and he witnesses to us, that we ARE declared righteous and blameless, BASED on the blood of Jesus, and us believing in what he did.
Renewing your mind is essentially reminding yourself of the riches of Christ, what we have in him, and by feasting on this, the spirit impresses Christ into us, uniting our spirit to his making them one, and our appetite for Christ will grow!
Faith, is TRUST, this flesh is still the flesh, when we judge it and understand it’s already been crucified, the flesh has nothing to say. There’s no accusation towards us anymore bc it’s all been blotted out, and God in his mercy is giving everyone time to come to this truth…so when we stand before him..and TODAY…it’s nothing but genuine gratitude for what he has done, and securing our eternity with him bc we couldn’t. He has done just that, and that gives us strength to endure so much until we get home to where we know we belong…right by his side, completely remade and transfigured, bc we signed up have to God supernaturally remove our sinful desires forever where there is no craving for anything evil bc our identity is in him.
Amen 🙏 hope some of this helps.

No I don't think it is I think as God changes us from the inside out our perspective changes

    • @stephengoff2189
      @stephengoff2189 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@savedwretch8711 yes he does he change our perspective…
      How does he do that?
      By shifting our focus…
      From our sin…to him…
From our death to life in him..
The mystery revealed through Paul..was that we are sons and coheirs with Christ…the riches of Christ…
So yes he does change our perspective…just like the serpent on the pole…
Get your eyes off of your serpent bites…stop looking at yourself and look at Christ and everything you have in him bc of his sacrifice.

    • @reneewilliams1747

The struggle is learning to look to Christ's perfect offering for us. Eyes need to be off the flesh and our failures and on his righteousness that is applied to our account...that's part of the struggle.

  • @mikelyons2831

It could be your theology? Following the teachings of someone (John Calvin) who had his dissenters imprisoned & some put to death! Going to a family reunion thinking many there might be arbitrarily preordained to destruction by God's divine decree, with no hope of ever turning to Christ! Yes, that can weigh a person down.
