    Wally know how to show off their boats. It's not the prettiest yacht, but it's got a futuristic cool to it. You wouldn't lose it in a marina full of yachts. The interior is something to behold, really beautiful

      @@Landmantx When you step out of your owners cabin, in undies, to retrieve a forgotten phone; you'l appreciate that there is not a straight visual shot all the way to through your boat, with your naked wife in the owners cabin forming a sunset silhouette, from the dock you are tied stern-to.........
      The stairwell is a clever, I'd say very successful, way to gently provide some division between public and private spaces, without reducing the feeling of openness of what is ultimately a boat trying very hard to feel bigger than it strictly is. The "private" areas, forward of the staircase, is subtly segregated from the more public stern in other ways as well: Different flooring being one of them, perhaps different color choices.
      Remember, this whole thing is just a 24 meter boat..... With primary emphasis on being an oceanfront vacation "club" for shorter term vacationing. Yet one where the owners may still want a little bit of respite from the "action" from time to time. It's not an Abramovich class cruise ship, big enough to have different weather systems, along with perhaps a Ukrainian deck segregated from the Russian ones, in different parts of the vessel.

Also, as nice as it was to see what was shown twice, it would have been even nicer to see the rest of the boat, like the galley that we heard was below deck twice...

      @@chiane1968 It's THE boat for honeymooning in the Med.... Big enough to not sacrifice comforts, able to get away from the maddening crowds of hoi-pollloi who clutter up everywhere in season..... And with an above average view from the suite :)
      To justify owning the thing long term, Wally would have to show plans for changing that prime real estate into something more long-term useful. A recording studio, or perhaps an office or, "boardroom"..... Anything other than wasting all that view on a pair or two of shut eyes. At least unless you're Hugh Hefner..... Come to think of it, the whole boat has a bit of a high-profile recording studio vibe. None of it look all that private, cozy and personal. More like a collection of design-forward spaces for clients and entourages to loiter around in.

    Yes the Wally looks amazing. For what it is, heres where they missed the mark. The distance range. The placement of the anchor, watch the video at plane. On a naval engineering stand point of drag, and resistance points. You never want the anchor in the bow wave push. It's like dragging your feet and decreasing the burn rate.
    Wally has a good start. Buy needs to carry more fuel. And change up parts of the interior.
    If your looking for a dock hugger you party on iit's great. On the hook in harbors or off shore.
    The height and side winds would blow it all over.

      "Not much," compared to what it would cost to get similar rear/social-end spaces in more traditional designs. If you're someone who spends a good whack chartering small-end-of-the-scale "super yachts" every summer, and use them the way most such people realistically do: This hardly-cheap boat may even make some twisted sort of financial sense in the long run.
      It was never intended to make sense to internet sailors as a "sea boat," though. Judged as that, it was a failure from the get go. But even "expedition yachts", styling and ultimate abilities aside, are almost never used like that.

    Where is the lower part of the boat like the real galley, tender garages and crew quarters? Definitely a cool futuristic looking boat, but with boats like the Sirena 88, the Bering 80, the FD87 and even the boats fron Wider and Alpha, we are seeing boats with lots of features and very capable. Sirena, Alpha and Bering are definitely leading the pack with their features and room, but this looks awesome. Couple issues I see though are in choppy waters, the owners stateroom is going to be the worst place to be in. Keeping all those windows clean, you'll need 2 deckhands minimum, plus a captain and at least 1 stewardess so you will need 4 crew cabins and this boat probably only has 3. It's tall and futuristic which means it's pricey. Wouldn't surprise me if this was 6.5M base price.

      If "racing" around at 20 knots fort he duration of a vacation was what owners did, it would indeed be obscene. But instead, most people may do two 25 mile hops, and then 2 back, in the course of their vacation. Not unlikely lots of it at much lower burn displacement speeds. So, at most 800 gallon in a week or two. Still a good bit, but not nearly that obscene. Avid poker runners, in such smaller boats, can burn more than that, in shorter time..... The rest of the time, the yachts just sit anchored in some bay, or even in a marina. Almost all these big, flashy poweryachts, are used more as Four-Seasons-class mobile-homes-on-the-sea, than as voyagers. Most people, even rich people, who actually want to "voyage" in something this big, still seem to prefer sail.

      A lot of these Med yachts get tucked away in ports during inclement weather. You're generally correct, in an explorer yacht setting it'd be much less acceptable, but this type of yacht generally has a different use case than any explorer would be intended for.

    • @nerblebun
      @nerblebun 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NoGoodHandlesComingToMind: Agreed. This yacht is somewhat of a novelty to be used in fair weather & enjoyed at anchor. Back in the 80's I was on a delivery crew. We delivered yachts all over the world. Mostly sailing vessels, but also several powered yachts as well. Tell ya the truth, I'm not fond of most modern yachts. They all look like floating Nike Sport Shoes to me.

    • @paulnorman8274
      @paulnorman8274 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a boat which will often be moved at night when the owners are onboard. The design brief was maximum play/lounge/entertaining space in under 25 meters. Even the choice of powering, 4xIPS, is wasteful if lots of actual long distance cruising with a professional crew is the goal. Almost all potential buyers will have extensively chartered much bigger yachts, and wants that sort of "super yacht" saloon/cockpit space and feel. Some of the more ambitious of them, in a boat they may fantasize they will "take out on their own" on occasion (which is where IPS would, at least theoretically, shine....). Few people utilise the rest of the length and complication which has traditionally been required to get a boat with a similarly big booty.

  • @olternaut
    @olternaut 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yeah, I thought I was going to be impressed by this design but the impression it gives me is of a prototype. I think the builder will learn from this new creation and plan for a much larger grander version of the ship type if they aren't doing so already. Plus, they make a big deal out of the wide beam but then put that art piece of a staircase right in the middle of the floor. It kind of defeats the purpose of the extra space....but that's just me.

    • @mareewalker1096
      @mareewalker1096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree especially with staircase in the middle! It absolutely ruins skylounge with the large seating and tv opposite! You don't want a staircase in front of your saloon couches to watch tv movie or sports! And it ruins main deck! WHY PUT A STAIRCASE IN MAIN VIEW OF EVERY DECK??? The main master is the only place that feels open and right! The rest is so WRONG when it COULD of easily of been so right! And as for exterior looks ahh no thanks! To square and odd looking! Take all the glass out and the interior would be horrible! It would not sell in my opinion! Bazaar yacht if you ask me! Change the exterior profile for a more sleek look and get rid of staircase you will be on a winner!!! Happy sailing all ⚓🛥

    • @paulnorman8274
      @paulnorman8274 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting huge (for the size boat) living/social-, and impressive owner-, areas within 24meters was the aim. 24 meters is just easier and cheaper. Enough so, that some people who currently spend fortunes chartering bigger boats, may perhaps be convinced to instead purchase their own. It feels like a much bigger boat than it is, when you're in the social areas.
      Short and wide, loses appeal once you go big enough to be limited to displacement speeds. You give up speed, efficient and range compared to longer, more slender designs. And you pitch more (last thing you want with an owners' high in the bow.... You're also somewhat stuck with an owners in, or at least near, the bow in a shorter boat).
      But in a semidisplacement hull, that's (mostly) moot. And, compared to smaller-end, narrower "super yachts" up to almost twice the length, a lot of the interior space you give up, ends up just being corridors leading to their more longitudinally dispersed interiors (big boats need (not sure if by fire and/or other regulation, but at least by tradition) wide walkaround decks, which makes their narrowish topsides interiors even narrower. And since there are limits to how cramped a corridor in their middle can be while still feeling like a "super yacht", corridors end up taking a good share of covered space. Much more so than in this wider, shorter design. In truly big super-yachts, this becomes less relevant. But for the 30-40, perhaps 50 meter ones this "competes" with for attention, it's very noticeable.)
      I find this a very inspired design. Obviously very different and more Med- than Florida, more loaded-guy- than wealthy-guy focused, but somewhat, kind'a, in the vein of Benford's Florida Bay Coasters: Make the ship in a form which follows function as actually used by most owners; rather than forcing those functions to fit into more traditional ship forms. It obviously won't please hard-core circumnavigating "salts" of the Slocum kind, but that's not whom they were designed for.

      I don't really feel that's a bad thing for a boat in this class. Truth to be told, the "luxury'ness" any accomodation these days, is more often than not judged by how closely it resembles a suite at Four Seasons or Aman. But I can see why some boaters may prefer something more traditionally maritime.

    I invariably find myself disliking much about supposedly Super Yachts, however, from the first sight of the side and particularly the bow I knew that this was something very special indeed - In every respect!
    To hear in your voice your excitement at how breathtakingly beautiful and unique this craft is was really nice, and I suspect that it is extremely rare for you to be so taken with the remarkable aspects seen in this vessel.
    The owners cabin was truly astonishing, it has singlehandedly created a new standard of unique and spectacular vision!
    The carbon fibre staircase was elegantly simple and simply elegant.
    Cabinetry, trim and decor were a great combination whose appeal should encompass a wide audience, and those glass bulkheads, roof panels and windows were in a class of their own.
    The 'Flight Deck' looked to be a fabulous location from which to command such a unique craft, and I would have liked to have seen the Captain's, Chief Engineer's and Crew accommodation and the technical areas, together with the tenders and watercraft garages.
    This superb vessel is exquisite in every way and I don't believe that I've ever been so impressed with a super yacht as I am with this masterpiece of design, engineering technology and construction.
