HEAVY DUTY HOOK RIG - KONA, HAWAI'I

The Island of Kona in Hawai’i boasts many record marlin including the men’s 80lb World Blue Marlin Record that weighed in at a mammoth 624kg (1,376lbs) and every year the island is visited by some absolute donkeys. Crews fishing out of Kona must be prepared to deal with some the biggest fish that swim and nothing is left to chance when that fish of a lifetime shows up and strikes a lure.
The team on the VV Melee (Capt Bryan Toney and 1st mate Kevin Hibbard) have experienced lots of BIG fish action over the years and know plenty of tricks when it comes to tackle and in this episode, they demonstrate their heavy-duty lure hook rig. I found we get better hook ups when the hook is pointing up. Anyone else find that?
