That entire sequence of baiting the defender into an unsportsmanlike was even more genius than the play itself.
Baited him into the shadow realm.
Oh I’m sorry I was just throwing the ball to the ref and your face got in the way
That was the only clever bit in the whole clip. That "fake fumble" fooled no one.
@WhiteCamry fooled enough of the defence to make a TD...stop acting like your an all pro 1 team
@@WhiteCamry it certainly fooled the announcers. didn't matter if it fooled anyone on the Bears though, because the o-line was blocking everything perfectly anyway. so we'll never know.
Is that from your history as an NFL player or your empathetic ability to read people's minds via television @@WhiteCamry
FYI: Gibbs is belov-ed.
Gibbs is a good metric, if you don't love him you're not a fan of Detroit
@@Frosty_tha_Snowmanhe did it twice just for you
@@Frosty_tha_Snowman if you think that’s cringe, let me remind you, the Jets exist.
He's my goat as a Lions fan. Him and then Brian Branch on the other side of the ball has been great.
@@TrickBot every time Branch does something cool, Tom Grossi gets a hundred notifications on Twitter
Jahmyr Gibbs is actually a STUD, Detroit hit the RB Lottery with him, came into the league as a solid RB1
Funny thing people quick to forget how hard they got dogged for trading up and picking him in the top 10
@@FishKev Only real argument over Gibbs was maybe Jalen Carter, who is also a dawg, but Gibbs could be All-Pro this year even sharing carries with Montgomery, and the Lions need Gibbs more than ever right now. Amazing pick
@FishKev they actually traded back from pick 6 to pick 12 and took gibbs there i believe, and picked up pick 33 in the trade and took laporta. Everybody gave Holmes a hard time for taking gibbs and then jack campbell. Turned out good though as they alsp got branch later in the 2nd round after they traded up with GB for the right to do so.
@@blade-icewoodJalen Carter was picked 9 Gibbs was as 12 but they had the 6 pick so could have got him but wouldn’t have got laporta I believe
@@jeffkiewiet806 Good point, so it was either Carter or Gibbs and LaPorta, not even a close debate there
yes gibbs is good, yes we love him
Came here to say that
He's only the greatest running back to ever live.
Nah, idk about all that, but ppl like to say shit like that about a bunch of different players all the time, and he's such a nice guy I figured I'd put his name in the conversation. Now you can say "Jahmyr Gibbs has been called the greatest running back to ever live" and it won't be a lie, hahaha.
I love Gibby
Wild seeing Jomboy talking about Gibbs
Very, very good. I think he's got more in the tank, too.
could not be more excited the team i've followed for sixty years is finally Jomboy-worthy and not for being a laughingstock!!
Congratulations, Ted! I’m happy about it too
They were probably Jomboy-worthy back in the Barry Sanders days if youtube had existed then!
@@psymar for sure, Barry was a highlight reel every week.
Doesn't it feel weird?
We're breaking all the curses this year baby. Washington and Philly in the playoffs to exercise the 90's demons, and a Superbowl ring to put Bobbly Lane to rest.
The Lions being good is the best thing to happen to the NFL in the last few years.
Edit: said as a Packers fan
Imagine a bills x lions SB. The world isn't ready!
We have officially entered a wormhole.
@@yobb1n544 The Bills certainly arent...
It's the best thing to happen to Detroit sports in over a decade and that's not saying much.
@@pretzelhunt Yeah I'm a bills fan and I dont have my hopes up :(
Even more messed up is apparently OC Ben Johnson's original plan was to legit fumble the ball on a play like this. Actual football insane man.
are you serious lol
@@joalco3 yeah no Ben ACTUALLY wanted an actual fumble. Goff basically went 'are you insane?'
@@joalco3 Yeah it was in ESPN, Goff told the media that Johnson asked him if he thought he could fumble on purpose and pick it back up. When Goff told him that he had 0% confidence that he could do that successfully, apparently this was plan B
1:40 “viciously hit in the head” 😂😂
The setup for unsportsmanlike conduct was legendary.
BRUTAL
Johnson was laughing when he turned around.
Get that shat out of here 😂😂
NOBODY does lip reads better than Jomboy.
And the sports fan world couldn't have been more blessed.
Gibbs is a stud. He and Montgomery have been a 2-headed monster on running back (nicknamed Sonic & Knuckles). This was Montgomery’s 1st game this season out with injury, but Gibbs picked up the slack admirably.
Yeah most don’t know how deep our running backs go since it’s been mainly the sonic and knuckles show. Reynolds used to get more touches a couple seasons back. I always liked his downhill running and he’s a strong runner.
@@trutymeproductionsDavid yelling at Craig to stay in the game to run a TD play in that buccs playoff game still warms my heart
Goff just obliviously shootin the shit at the end was hilarious! "Wow, me and J-Mo are having a good game" hahaha
What I love about this is that the lions saw a play from last year where the Bears safety crashed in on a fumble (against the packers) so they designed this play knowing he’d bite
Right! This whole play was designed off of a previous play against the Bears. Great coaching.
10000 IQ
I didn’t think of that. I was thinking that they took inspiration from Goff tripping but still handing the ball off to Monty to set up the game winning field goal against the Packers
Ben Johnson be having a lil too much fun calling these plays man 😂😂😂😂
Going to suck seeing him coach the bears and leaving the lions without creativity. Hopefully they don’t steal will stein from the ducks hahah
@@exvandal187if he knows what’s good for him he’ll stay as an oc. A lot of oc or dc are not suited to be a hc
@exvandal187 remember when dan campbell took over play calling and we won 3 of our last 8 in our first year? Dan will make sure we get a playcaller and I'm sure Ben tought dan a lot. Im sure dan is involved in just enough on each aspect of the game.
Jahmyr Gibbs is Sonic. David Montgomery is Knuckles.
And Craig is Tails... 'cause he comes in at the tail end of games.
Knuckles is dead
Gibbs is the version of Sonic that had teeth
@@Werdnasemajjamesandrew He will rise from the ashes come playoffs
Yea and Gibbs is torched lolz that team so overrated.
I'm a former New Yorker and current Michigander and it is nice to see so many of my long-suffering Lions-fan neighbors finally having something to celebrate lately every Sunday. Reminds me of when Parcells and Belichick and Taylor resurrected the Giants 40 years ago.
2:26 This only works when you've been the Lions for nearly 70 years.
Nah this would work if other teams practiced it
Packers did it week 11
Dan Campbell was on the 0-16 team. That was in their playbook. Except the TD pass was taken out. And the fumble was real.
Every Raiders play should be this.
😆😆😆
A good majority of people where saying we drafted Gibbs too early lol
Yep actually a lot of people thought it was a bad pick to early.
A lot of people also hated the Laporta and Jack Campbell drafts. Which was baffling to me. If you watched Laporta play for Iowa, on the worst offense I've ever seen, he was still unstoppable. Shocked he didn't get more attention. And Jack was a man playing against boys in College, Just a beast. I always feel like the guys who draw up these draft boards don't actually watch CFB sometimes.
@JayBigDadyCy And THEN we got BB after fleeting the Packers. It was a glorious draft.
I’ve had kittens who were less fooled by a laser pointer than the Bears D on that play.
LMAO.
😂
And that makes the play all the more funny - Lions joking around while stomping the Bears cause they decided to F around. And then they found out. : )
That’s where the Lions got the play design. They used to be the laser tortured kittens.
I do admit it is hard to tell how much the Bears were fooled. Because it’s very normal for them to just let a TE run through all the coverage anyway. Other teams it requires a fast player like a WR to do that. But not the Bears. That may be a negative in terms of winning games but it does mean when they are fooled by a weak trick play they can just say ‘nope. We just naturally suck.’
As a Bills fan I just wanna say I'm so glad to see the Lions doing so well, your fanbase deserves it after nearly 7 decades of misery.
Take your crown king 👑
Great game last week, hope we get another against you in the Super Bowl!
they had this lil fella named Barry Sanders for a bit. hardly 7 decades.
@@pretzelhunt They only made the Playoffs 5 times during Barry Sanders' entire run and they were bounced out of the Playoffs right away 4/5 times. The one time they made it to the NFC Championship Washington demolished them.
@@harrdeeharr Fingers crossed! :)
Ben Johnson wanted Goff to actually fumble, Goff said no.
Yeah. That's way too risky.
Goff knows he’s not coordinated enough for that 😂
If you like skill players being accountable and blocking on every play the Detroit Lions are the team you should be watching every single weekend.
Dan Campbell accepts nothing less. I hope this team wins the SB. They are certainly good enough and don't have any true weaknesses.
@@toddrichardson8595 our defense is a lil weak with all the injuries. i hope it's not too big a mountain to climb but we have a great season to show for it regardless
We proved against the bills were good for shootouts with the best of the best. Even with a weak defense
Go Lions, as a Rams fan. Growing up I rooted for the Rams, my brother for the Lions...though my favorite player was Barry Sanders. We watched all Lions and Rams games when we could, and rooted for both teams.
The trade with Stafford/Goff was good for all involved. When they play each other I don't mind if the Rams lose, because both QBs are deserving. We got our ring, you guys get yours!
Thank you for this. Watched a thousand of your videos and you finally give me the Lions. Been watching them since 1988.
That football toss to the refs was genius. You love to see jerks get their comeuppance.
lions getting their comeuppance. same with their crass fans.
Do more football breakdowns please. You bring a different element in a good way.
You can tell he knows nothing about football, since he had to be told the Lions have a fun offense 🙄
as someone with Gibbs and Jamo on my fantasy team, i had a lot of fun watching this game
“I fell in love with Gibbs making this” welcome to the party of everyone. Gibbs is awesome
Gibbs is one of the most exciting players to watch since he came into the league last year
i love the lions, it feels so good to watch them finally win games after all this time
Dan Gamblin’ Campbell has cashed out once again
Gibbs is a treasure. Sonic FTW.
0:46 That extra-effort play reminds us of Reynolds' famous block against Tampa Bay near the start of last season. Hustle and teamwork that shocks the opponent.
That Reynolds block was my favorite play of the regular season last year. It epitomized the philosophy and spirit that the team played with all year.
Do you know who Reynolds blocked/hit on that play?
@rholeo617BC2 I don't remember, but legend has it he's still on the field twelve yards from where he hit the turf. That block was out of this world.
@@MrSprigg Yes! Not only that, but his flying body kinda blocked/impeded another Tampa defender that woulda had a clean opportunity to tackle Amon-Ra before the touchdown.
The Tampa player flying through the air after getting crushed by Reynolds was current (injured) Lion Carlton Davis.
Gibbs is a baller. So explosive yet physical
I'm loving the Lions this year. I don't have a team here in the UK so I chose one each year, this years its the Lions because they just seem to be having fun and the HC is awesome!
I'd run thru a brick wall for Coach Campbell, and I'm not even on the team
Lions offense is easily the most fun offense to watch in the entire league. Ben Johnson gets the maximum out of the wealth of options we have.
From a lifelong Lions fan who, at 32 years old, just witnessed my first playoff win last season.... thank you. After experiencing a lifetime of miserable seasons it has been incredibly special to see that the Lions are a team that people want to root for these past few seasons. To have an international fanbase seems miraculous.
You didn't pick the jags after they've played like half their season in London?😂 Pity they try to shove that sorry excuse for a team down y'all's throats
Love to see international support for the NFL. Lord knows, we Yanks have taken to YOUR version of football!
You picked a special team in the Lions. They're pretty banged-up right now, but still fighting with GRIT!
As a Michigander Gibbs is royalty bruh
I’m a huge Bears fan…. But Gibbs… he is a monster!! 😂
I love seeing the Lions and Jomboy intersect. Would definitely watch more Lions videos!
3:10 - Great breakdown of this super fun play. And to seal the deal, Goff made a perfect throw! I've seen some clever plays recently that flopped because the throw missed the mark at the end. Your take on the earlier penalty was sweet as well. Liked and subbed.
Merry Christmas to you, and may you have a blessed 2025!
Stumbleruskyi! Haha. Nice.
Always love jomboy doing football analysis
Goodness. When was the last time the Lions were 13-2? Good to see Goff find a home.
literally never. first 13 win season in the team's history!
@@stephensarow2127 Small addendum: The 1991 team won 13 games if you include the playoffs. I lived in the area at the time and it was fun.
@@lo1bo2 Undefeated at home that season.
@@calvinhobbes6118And undefeated on the road this year (so far)
It’s so funny how the Lions and Rams just straight up traded their quarterbacks one for one and both somehow got better in their new environments and each team benefited. Matt Stafford won a superbowl in LA, and now Goff is looking poised to do the same in Detroit
Great breakdown! 3:07 I hope he didn't sound exactly like that lol
Two things I haven’t seen in sixty years of playing, watching and doing collegiate-level play-by-play -
* A successful fake fumblerooski
* The Lions easily handling any team, really
Kudos for both. Fun to watch.
Lions are the most fun team especially on offense. There's a lot of great potential breakdown material on this team
would be sad if their oc left to be chicago's hc
I followed Vikes in the 70s and now Lions this year. Old black and blue Division.
Jomboy covering the lions? We really have finally made it
Good job man. This is a great highlight reel. You've really taken it to the next level reading the players lips like that. Jahmyr Gibbs is a football hero.
1:46 it's good to see the Skipper doing so well after Gilligan's island.
I know NFL is not a common Jomboy topic but he could make a shitload of breakdowns on the Lions this season. Made me think of it because of the DET-DAL game this year and how petty the Lions were with rubbing the OL eligibility in their and the league's face.
Jomboy helped me better understand, and in turn better enjoy, baseball. Happy to see football breakdowns, love your style as many of the other stuff on YT is a bit challenging for myself as a football noob to grasp.
I was watching this live and thought it was so weird that Gibbs and Goff both stumbled and I’m usually waiting for the trick play lol😂
It would be so awesome to see Detroit win the SB.... Jared Goff could call a certain head coach in Los Angeles and say Hi. Dan Campbell is the perfect coach for the Lions...
Jomboy is the GOAT of these breakdowns.
The glove analysis!!! LMAO!
The old "Stumblerooski" gets'em everytime.
My favorite part of any Jomboy video? The dead nuts accuracy of the lip reading.
Love having Jomboy doing NFL breakdowns!
thats legitimately the best trick play design ever
I’m a Bears fan in Chicago and I LOVED that fake fumble touchdown play! I even had Goff and St Brown go over in yards for my picks 😁
This was one of the best football game breakdowns I've ever watched.
I would love a Dan Campbell lip read
You crack me up Jomboy. Love your breakdowns of plays.
4:49 Of course you're having a helluva game, you're playing the Bears
Nah the cold and outdoor stadiums is Goffs kryptonite I was there last year terrible game I think our saving grace this year was it was 30⁰f and sunny
@@brenyd Bears fan here. We just have two problems this year ... offense and defense. Especially the offensive line. I think Mushin Mohamed once said Chicago was where wide receivers go to die. With this offensive line, it's where quarterbacks go to get killed.
Im a cowboys fan. I hope the lions pull it off this year! They deserve it!
I didn’t have Jomboy covering the Lions on my bingo card but here we are. Go Lions baby!
Lifelong Detroit Lions fan Jomboy, Gibbs is one of my favorites! Love seeing a jomboy breakdown for my favorite team
Love your NFL breakdowns Jimmy!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Taking the glove off was crazier than the play 😂 respect
Happy for Jared, Goff and the Lions
We love Gibbs and Montgomery here in Michigan!
The lions are so damn fun to root for
This is the Lion's year!
Thanks for this breakdown ! Gave me some added laughs in my day : )
It’s so cool seeing these legacy teams finally taking over the league
Jombo driving comments with the Gibson questions…”is he good? Is he beloved?”
Great vid as always Jomboy! Merry Christmas!
Toying with the poor bears 🤣
We made it boys!!!! Jomboy rarely covers American Football lol
As a Bama fan, it makes me so happy seeing Jamo and Gibbs tearing it up in the league. I know they were transfers and we only had them for a season, but they were good enough to stand out over guys Saban recruited. Just a testament to how talented they both are in their respective roles.
That running back is a genius for that penalty 😂
You know that man thought "I hope no one saw LaPorta leave me hanging" and it was just immortalized forever in a Jomboy video
Your commentary is awesome and funny.
The way Dan Skipper, who's a head taller than Johnson and a lot heavier too, just immediately puts himself between Gibbs and Johnson, gotta respect that. Standing up for his teammate there.
Best part (not shown here) is the o-line yelling “fumble!”
"Cmon The Bears" 😂😂
‘Oh shoot, it was just the two fans’ 😂😂
That fake fumble has to be up there with the Philly special 😂 I hope more teams do it
My fav play in that game was the Bears fumbling an early handoff . When the QB pulled his hand back after the exchange the ball somehow stuck to the NFL's gloves which do NOT have any adhesive properties what-so-ever. The QB accidentally pulled the ball right back out of the HBs hands !
@Jomboy there was a play in the GB/Chi game the week prior where Love did fumble the snap, recover, then hit his TE for a big gain down the left side. Det likely created this play after seeing how Chi screwed up covering it. Run a side by side comparison of both- it’s great.
This series of plays is performance art at its finest.
Gotta have some fun at work. You are doing a great job on the Lip reading.
I like to point and laugh at the analysts that said Gibbs was a bad pick.
One of those plays that looks like genius when it works against a bad team, but potentially disastrous if you try to get cute like this against a comparatively talented defense, similar to the "lets try to confuse everyone with multiple OL substitutions, including the refs!" play they tried a year or so ago.
The Jared Goff & Matthew Stafford trade may go down as the most productive trade each way ever!
Jomboy is every Lions fan😂 We all love Gibbs
i think everyone loves Gibbs, even neutral fans, just a fun guy to watch and part of one of the more exciting backfields in the league
I’m a Cowboys fan and did not have a great day when we got slaughtered by the Lions, but I can give the Lions way more credit than the Cowboys. Cowboys continue to disappoint year after year, but the Lions are havin a good year, and I’m super happy for em
As a Rams fan I'm really happy to see Goff flourish in the system and growing as a QB.
Detroit and LA both got a great deal out of that trade.
The quarterback fake fumble play was run way back in 2007. Coach Mark Dantonio ran a variation of this play when the Michigan State Spartans played Notre Dame in South Bend. Brian Hoyer did something similar and threw the ball to an open Kellen Freeman-Davis for a touchdown.
What laporta did to that third fan was diabolical 😂😂
Came to comments to make sure Gibbs was getting his love and yall did not disappoint 😂 Gritty Lions!
It's crazy how good this breakdown is, considering Jomboy's not a football expert.
have you a merry christmas Jomboy but need you to breakdown the Drummand ejection
