I actually prefer this to Dark Forest for one main reason; while Dark sounds like you're struggling against some kind of monster, Pink is the haunting melody of an entity who knows they've already won. What's GF gonna do, stomp on the hollowed out vessel of Peach being puppeted by the forest itself? You belong to Him the moment you set foot in His domain, and Pink portrays that perfectly. He took Peach, He broke Mario, and He could take you at any given moment. He chooses not to solely for a moment of amusement.

And in this forest, is heard that a spirit, the god of the forest, decided to possess her. Later, mario wanted to find peach, worried about her disappearence, and when he found peach, he was devastated by what he saw. His Peach was no longer here, it was not "Peach" anymore... That's why we see mario sitting down, sad.
