Omena band is led by Jaduong Kigunga of Usare village,Kasgunga ward,Mbita sub county,Homa Bay county.The band is named after a a proteinous fish,commonly known as omena amongst Kenyan people.Here,the song generally praises omena as food for all and consumed by people in different parts of Kenya.The band is still alive and performs at various events such as weddings,graduation ceremonies,community events amongst others in Homa bay county.

Omena randere. The story line and the imagery is hilarious. Music nostalgic....if these guys were in the West they could be walking to their financial advisers. All the same a gem of a number. Reminds me of the impromptu jams my good friends from the Kendu Bay area of Karachuonyo would get going whenever they had guitars and the ubiquitous Fanta bottle around!
