Merci du partage de votre expérience.Pierre Blot est vraiment quelqu’un de passionné, abordable et d’une pédagogie sans faille. Un vrai plaisir de le suivre en stage, en formation et même en DVD.

I wish I could make a Jodan Yoko Geri look like that. I can only do Gedan Yoko Geri well. I imagine if you used it on a knee joint it would work well. OSU

Hi, is your foot parallel to the floor on kiage or higher in the toe side? Do you keep the supporting foot still or twist it while throwing your hip as in kekomi? Thanks, oss

According to this sensei, there's two valid foot striking surfaces for the yoko geri (keage or kekomi doesn't matter): the "cutting edge" or the heel, in both cases the foot is rather parallel to the floor but it doesn't matter so much as long as the striking surface is correct.
With kekomi yoko geri the supporting foot absolutely needs to twist towards the opposite way while "opening" your hip to preserve the supporting knee, having the supporting knee able to flex the other way also allows to add more force.
Note that keage requires a lot of hip flexibility which is not common, kekomi seems a bit more technical but it's actually more accessible to less flexible people.

Nicolas Parot Alvarez Thank you Nicolas for your detailed explanation. I have been struggling with this for a while. Some materials I have found don’t twist the supporting foot in leave which I have always felt endangers the knee and others do and it has always been confusing even after examining Master Funakoshi’s old texts. Well thanks indeed for your time.
