Title: The way to possess the life of Jesus
    Date: 05-10-2015
Our Goal as Christians is this: To be an exact reflection of Jesus, the Son of God (Romans 8:29)
We do this individually by growing in purity in our personal lives (1 John 3:2-3)
We do this corporately by becoming fully functioning members of a local Church (Ephesians 4:11-16)

As I grow older, I find myself seeking out the word of God through pastors who teach instead of preaching @ the congregation. I've had enough of the theatricals in the pulpit during my youth. The coming of the Lord is closer than we realize and we need to HEAR the word of God and be Doers of the word of God in order to run this race to the finish line.

+Erica Williams To me the difference is in the delivery, ie, the messenger. Ministry can be more or less emotional. One functioning as an evangelist would perhaps be more emotive? One operating as a pastor teacher would be less so? The content of an evangelism must be Christ and Him crucified for the salvation of the sinner. The content (as expressed throughout holy writ) of pastoral ministry should nevertheless be Christ and him crucified, albeit for the ongoing sanctification of the saint. Style might differ with audience but the content is truly what counts.

+Timothy Turenne what happen to the two fold work of the Cross? e.g disciples commanded to deny self, take up our cross and follow Christ, that He may INCREASE and I decrease. ..

The law only defines lawlessness. But Romans 3;21 reads "But now the righteousness of God APART from the law has been revealed!" Like in the story of the good samaritan none of the three did anything wrong but, only one of them did what was right!

Brother, I had the same question a couple of years ago. God worked through the holy spirit as well as Br. Zac's Life helped me to know this truth a bit. You can go through some of the messages listed here... Daily Transformation To Christlikeness by Zac Poonen

It is not the gospel of salvation merely to believe in Jesus; the devils do that (Mark 1:24, James 2:19).
It is not the gospel to love Jesus with all our heart; the Muslims do that as well.
“Making Jesus Lord” is something the Mormons include in their theology, and every good Hindu “accepts” Jesus (they accept thousands of gods).
None of the beliefs above can save you from God’s rightful judgment against our sins. Paul clearly states the gospel of our salvation in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.
“… Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: …” - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
It was through Christ’s death that our sin is removed and we are justified.
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” - 2 Corinthians 5:21
We receive righteous standing with God by faith.
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” - Romans 5:1
Belief in this gospel alone will save you and give you the grace of eternal life (Rom 6:23). First, we hear this gospel of grace. Second, we trust it, then we are saved: no more, no less.
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise…” - Ephesians 1:13

This message is confusing and misleading. It does not point to salvation by faith through the finished blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The preacher starts out by laying the right foundation. Our life is not a set of rules and regulations by which we maintain our salvation. Romans 10:4 - "Christ is the end of the law; for righteousness to everyone who believes", which means salvation is not by works but by faith in Christ. However, towards the middle part of the message, he lays the importance of our own work in denying everything as rubbish. He finally concludes that we won't be able to come to Christ unless we count everything as rubbish. This misleads from salvation and again lays the foundation of our own work which is not right.
The following teaching clearly denies the work of Jesus and the power of his blood to save but rather puts dependence on our flesh in obeying Jesus daily.
"I thought of how seriously Jesus had to take sin compared to our attitude to sin. If Jesus had sinned once, he would not accomplish what he was sent to accomplish. I thought of this like this. Lord if you tell me that from today onwards i should never sin even once. Would it make a difference in the way I should live from now on. Yes, it should. If I think at the back of my mind, the blood of Jesus is always there, there is a safety net there if I slip and I will be protected; That's why we don't take sin so seriously. Jesus took sin so seriously."
Does the above mean that Jesus is not there to save us when we fall? Does it teach sinless perfection to be saved.
After this, the preacher also misquotes Hebrews 5:7, to denote that Jesus cried so seriously to keep away from sin and we should be doing that. Yes, we should be as Christians crying to keep away from sin, but we are not Jesus to be talking to God directly. Hebrews 5:7 refers to Jesus as the high priest who intercedes on our behalf. Trying to cry for our sin with our own righteous attitude and reaching God does not work without the interceding work of Jesus.
The preacher later says, "There is something you still value or want.. then you won't come to Christ, let me tell you that". This teaches salvation by works as he expects us to deny everything. Of course, Christ explicitly stated this and expect us to do the same, but he gives salvation on his terms not on ours. It is not the strength of my belief or sacrifice that I can gain Christ otherwise I can boast.
The preacher is indirectly boasting that he is able to attain this stage due to his works.
    Finally in conclusion, he says
"All I have shared today is a bunch of haphazard thoughts something like scripture itself. If you read Scripture, you wont find it all neatly systematically in 2 or 3 points. It is here and there. The way Jesus spoke and way Paul wrote his letters. If it brings life, you know its from the holy spirit."
This is completely untrue of scripture and of the holy spirit. Jesus said to his disciples multiple times that he was talking plainly and also explained the scriptures to them after he rose again. Paul and thousands of Christians have clearly understood the scriptures today pointing to Christ as the redeemer, the messiah and salvation by grace alone. Sanctification by his blood and the work of the holy spirit in doing so. If a preacher adds confusion by saying things like this. It's not a good sign.
Please be more clearer in presenting the Gospel and assuring people of their salvation rather than laying works as the foundation and showing that only few who are as good as such preachers can go to heaven.

the key points of the message is to become more like Christ. 'He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.'
(1 John 2:6). The preaher was teaching by faith in Christ it is possible to become more like daily in all we do. He mentioned his experience which is more important than theory. listen to the message allow Holy Spirit to lead you . You will be blessed

you have clearly misunderstood. He talked about the Holy spirit will lead us by revealing more of Jesus to me and Christ becomes more precious

Salvation is faith alone in the work of Jesus Christ, it doesn't mean that we can continue on sinning romans 6..so WORKS like obeying Christ teaching, repentance, carrying the cross, are also needed to prove that we really respond his love for us..! faith is a commitment you have for Christ till you die..!
