I don't know if he would shoot someone since he seems to prefer punching people in the face. Still, it would explain his disappearance if he had to leave town after the shooting.
l y m Well, the last Season we see Just Stamp The Ticket Man for many years is season 6, the very same season that contains the episode Who Shot Mr Burns Part 2. Is it possible that after shooting Mr Burns, Just Stamp The Ticket Man went into hiding? Not to mention that when we see him again, he has grey hair. This could be due to stress, or even so that he could hide his identity. Lastly, when Mr Burns was shot, he pointed to "S" and "M". Many fools believe this stood for "Maggie Simpson", however it actually stood for "Stamp Man".
Gexzzz and the reason he said maggie was because he simpily didnt know who he was and blamed it on Maggie because he wanted revenge for her not giving him the candy
i srsly didnt even connect that he appeared numerous other episodes after getting his ticket stamped, i always thought those were just some random dude haha
His entire character is that of 'some random asshole.' That's what gives him the right to look down on the Simpsons and everyone else in Springfield who constantly debase themselves by constantly doing things that get noticed, and therefore, people might laugh at them for it. He gets to hide behind the crowd and call out the efforts of others. It's not like Ned, Barney, Marge or Homer even remember his face from before, anyway.
So we have a story here: he started out generally surly towards people and laconic in his mannerisms, someone who doesn't really care about people in general. Then Homer called him a jerk and he became more violent in his disposition, since he thought he only "said it like it is" and he went from surly to outright hostile. The next time we see him he is a recruiter for the Navy. I suspect one of two things happened: either he lashed out at someone he shouldn't and was forced to join up to serve the nation, or he figured he liked using violence and thought the Navy was a good outlet for his proclivities. While serving in the Navy he was deployed so we didn't see much of him hence he had less appearances. Finally in Lisa goes Gaga we can see the effect of serving in the armed forces and his hair has prematurely grayed.
I burst out laughing too many times over this one XD Your dry matter-of-fact delivery on how amazing and pivotal this seemingly innocuous character is priceless.
I was just scanning through my Simpsons DVDs and found another "Just Stamp The Ticket Man" scene, that also very suspiciously got cut from the final episode. In "Homer the Smithers" (Season 7 Ep. 20), Smithers takes a job at the Leftorium. When Flanders and Smithers keep on talking to Just Stamp the Ticket Man while he waits for his item, he responds with "Stop it. Stop it! Cancel my purchase. I'll just learn to be right-handed" and walks out of the store... without even stamping his ticket. How un-just-stamp-the-ticket-man-ly of him.
It goes to show how much of a true diehard Simpsons fan you are to be able to make an episode like this AND make it a great one. As for who I’d like to see next, maybe Edna Krabappel? She’s the weary put-upon teacher we’ve all had, but she was one of the first teacher characters who made me realize that teachers are people with a life beyond school, and what happens outside the classroom can affect how they do their job and treat their students.
"We don't remember writing this character into the script, nor do our animators remember drawing a single frame of this gentleman" Said Matt Groening, who is still very scared of "Just Stamp the Ticket" Man
-squeeky voice teen -nelsons bully friends -that chick that almost married otto but ended up moving into the simpson house afterthe botched wedding in the back yard. -lenny's origins -unibrow baby origis -where is uncle herb? there i gave you content for a year
I met the "Just Stamp the Ticket" Man at a KMart mens room in Beaumont, Texas. He offered to pay me $500 to give him a Cleveland Steamer. Aside from that, he seemed like a cool dude.
Sodomizing Death Master I met him too back in Highschool, 94. He had a massive Afro and a Frasier tattoo, cool guy I guess. He once told me the meaning of life and proceeded to create an entire religion off of the ham-burglar.
I’ve been an enormous fan of the Simpsons my entire life... it’s so ingrained into my life that it’s a part of me... ...I NEVER knew this guy existed! Thank you for this
My favorites would easily be the punch in the face scenes. In just a few fifths of a second, Just Stamp The Ticket Man makes a strong statement against the artificial aspects of our society. In the "Sunshine on my shoulders" scene, Just Stamp The Ticket Man is undoubtedly uncomfortable due to the heatwave at the time, should he have his own feelings of discomfort be invalidated by some street busker? Just Stamp the Ticket Man remains content with who he is and how he feels, which leads into the "Simpson & Son Tonic" scene. Homer makes a brash attempt to squeeze money out of Just Stamp the Ticket Man using emotional manipulation, by claiming that he has difficulties satisfying his wife. As we saw in his interaction with the busker, Just Stamp the Ticket Man makes it clear that he will not tolerate others trying to warp his mind, especially if their intent is to only profit off of his emotions. We must all learn from Just Stamp the Ticket Man and make a stance and say "you will not control my mind, or my money. Just stamp the ticket". Or maybe I just like seeing people get punched in the face, either or.
And once more, the series has given us a character arc and her experience with just stamp the ticket guy. She got her first experience with him in Marge on the Lam, where Ruth Powers shows her how to use Just stamp the ticket guy to hit precious antique cans. She honed her skills when she joined the police force in The Springfield connection, passing the Just stamp the ticket guy exam with flying colors. And lets not forget how the later episode The Cartridge Family ended. After Homer gives up his just stamp the ticket guy for good, Marge finds him too irresistible to let go, and secretly keeps him for herself. Marge is a character very familiar with Just stamp the ticket guy, so the notion that Marge being too squeamish to be the Just stamp the ticket guy knocker over, is patently absurd.
Blows my mind. I know every one of those scenes, but I never noticed this guy before. My eyes have been opened. How you notice these tiny intricacies is beyond me. Well done.
My favorite line from him is probably "I doubt my son or daughter would like that", but my favorite appearance is when he punches Homer over his insensitive remark. I find it interesting how such a small and scarcely recurring character like Stamp The Ticket Man has such a large following, but they keep trying to push Shauna in newer episodes and none of us still fucking care about her. It really shows how brilliant the writing was back then.
If TheRealJims was an English teacher, I wouldn't be the only kid to like English class. What? I like reading... Which is what you're doing now... Excellent...
he is one of the funniest little side charachters of early seasons who rarely appeared. I especially loves when he punched Homer for his "you look like a man who needs help satisfying his wife" and when he punched the singing guy for no reason
I'd love to see a Simpsons Histories episode on Mr. Burns or Ned Flanders. Going over how Burns has been portrayed as a simply mean spirited boss, straight up villain and complete joke in regards to his physical strength. As for Flanders I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the well, Flanderization of him, how his religious aspect has become his defining character trait over the years
Just Stamp The Ticket Man really strikes me as the average Spingfield citizen - namely cynical, carries very distinct character traits, and somewhat underdeveloped yet memorable. That being said, I'm actually kind of surprised he came back at all, and considering what a jerk he is I'm kind of grateful in some respects, because random harshness is only funny because it happens unexpectedly. Characters like Patty/Selma, Krabappel, and Smithers function a lot better as the caustic loners who serve their jobs of knocking characters down a peg, and you can really get why they are this way based on their character histories and backgrounds, and have been gifted with good writing to flesh them out and show off their more likable sides to boot. Much like Moleman, he's a lot more interesting with the mystery intact.
Best line of his: "I doubt my son or daughter is THAT stupid!" It's the way he sounds so dismissive and condescending when he says it and then just goes about his way.
"just stamp the ticket" man is far more than sarcastic. He's blunt, apathetic, unapologetic and taps into a certain zeitgeist of people totally fed up with all the bullshit.
3:00 Made me think of that one guy who works at the school district along with Superintendent Chalmers. I don't remember his name but he showed up in a few episodes to be this brutish no-nonsense guy, then they dropped him too.

This would be just stamp the ticket man’s reaction if he found out you made a video about him
Why not
Because Just Stamp The Ticket Man is one of the greatest characters in the history of fiction.
