I'm an Indian and I'm still listening to this song in 2020! This used to be one of my favorite Zimbabwean songs and still is!! Reminds me of the wonderful life I had in Zim during 2008-2013! Lovely and very friendly people! Miss Zim ❤️
I’m back here after 15 years because a lot of times when I wake up middle of the night, this song is ringing in my heart. It’s everything this song, love song, uplifting song, and I remember my Sunday school teacher once made us sing it in church and it made perfect sense. Alexio God bless you and I hope you know you touched many hearts with this one. This is music that spans through decades. I love this song ❤
When this song was released I was going through some of the toughest months of my life. No job, no Hustle, no rent, no food! I was literally starving! I remember listening to this song all day everyday hungry as hell not knowing what the future held, just trying to encourage myself and keep holding onto hope that things would get better and they did! A truly powerful piece of art this, God given indeed.
I was raised in Old Luveve, Bulawayo. One of our eldest 'community brothers,' Nhlanhla, would wake up every day at 5 a.m. singing this song at the top of his voice. He was in a wheelchair and a man of little means but embraced each day as a God-given opportunity to 'Shine.' Nhlanhla and 'Shaina' are a constant point of reflection for me; no matter how tough it gets, I am created to shine. (I have written this in the past tense, but Nhlanhla is 'very much' alive).
l luv this song. it reminds me ndiripa Byo Polytechnic (residence) with my roommate in 2008 & things were so tough economically. many students dropping off school in search of greener pastures in SA & Bots. it rilly inspired us to hold on. now we are somewhere better off. surely whatever you are going thru, the sun cums out......
I am writing this comment in 2024, to those reading this in 2070! A lot has changed, I know but this song is a gem, it was produced in 2008 which was the darkest period in our history as Zimbabwe, political violence, hyperinflation, food shortages! There used to be queues for everything cooking oil, kombis, mealie meal, bread, in banks everything! This song gave us hope during those hard times! Those days kombis will just stop midway and say chidzakai mari yenyu yapera!
I get to listen to this beautiful song when I was really in a bad hard situation . But it made me to keep believing on who I am and shine at the same time. Thank you dear Alexio.
First song by Alexio that I like is Famba iwe ...then shaina and zvazvinhu .This song gives hope to most people who are at breaking point 😊Chin up keep plodding on .
