A basic buy here pay here lot needs to sale 20 to 30 cars a month just to keep the lights on and keep food on the table. A legitamit classic car, nice resto mod lot like Rabbits Used Cars can sale 2 or three a month and live very nice. These guys here are in a world of their own. The cars tgey have were rare limited edition in stock form. When you add the modifications of modern ignition electronics, fuel managment, turbos, wheels, tires, air managment body mods and such shoot the value up more. Some classic collectors are screaming about changing a rare #23 of 100 when only 60 exist still. The cars they exchange and what they change is done to enhance the experience and not just impress others. The mods done are meant to make the owners smile bigger, experiences last in memory, become part of there dreams. They could sale 1 or 2 a month and live nicely. When your customers are sheikhs, business magnets, people who can slide a debit card, wire transfer $300k, $700k or more and not blink it's nice. When they come back like the sheikh multiple times and you have a base of repeat customers it creates security.
Larry, check out Fantasy Junction in Emeryville, right across from Pixar. They often sell old race cars like Lola's, etc. That place is more like a racing museum than a dealership.

I was grinding teeth just watching in horror, lol. Same goes for keys and anything else that gets throne on cars. After washing/detailing my car, I can see where someone, most likely at the dealership, had rested a cup on the trunk at some point before me taking ownership.
DP Porsches with roof motors. 🤪😁😁😁 Nah, all good! As a German I really can appreciate when Americans pronounce German names and brands relatively correct. 😎👍
Sounds kind of weird to me. He says "We dont sell alot of cars, its more of a collection". Ok. Then what is this place for? Laundering money? I have news for you young guys. Been there, done that in Cali. In Whittier at the corner of Beach Blvd and Whittier Blvd were two huge dealers of modified cars. Stick City and "Street Rods" were there for years. You could get the killer stuff that was popular back then. There is a reason this stuff does not work. When you have a lot full of cars that were built by everybody and their mother, they break down. They break down on test drives. They break down from sitting on the lot. And, if you do not have the best tech guy on staff to get these things running, how do you sell them? You cant. Nobody wants to spend big bucks and buy it from some guy who pretends to know everything about the build. The guy buys it, takes it home and has no idea how to work on it. When you bought something at "Street Rods", when you left the lot, it's yours. The idea of a place that sells all kinds of performance cars works only one way. Look at Bruce Canepa. He sells only the best of the best. He goes through all of his cars. But, he charges big bucks. If I had $200K to spend on a car, I'm going for a place with a long and good reputation. This looks like something from a bunch of amateurs trying to do a reality show.
An addendum to what I stated elsewhere here..... No matter how cool this business is, no mater how lucrative it could be done right, this is not a sustainable business model beyond maybe 5 to 10 more years. Rare collector car supply will dry up and prices will be more insane. Wealthy collectors are hiding them away. Saving grace will be 30 to 40 years from now when inheritors of these will put them back on the market and prices will drop. Right now all those cool cars of the 60s, 70s, 80s are insanely expensive and hard to find. When those middle aged collectors pass away and the grandkids don't want them it will not be a problem finding a 240Z, IROC, Ruff, 68' Z28, Skyline and they will not be $50k to $300k or more at that time. Also we will be a decade or two behind Europe but in 40 to 50 years gas cars will be outlawed on the road. Buying a gallon of gas for your 1/4 mile run will cost a house payment. All these will get put on a platform in a museum and never driven again at some point.
