He always does this song so differently each time...I know it's been said over and over again but it's true...Letting his feelings flow through his guitar & body.
First of all, Stevie in Red is fantastic. It is a dominant color of their flag, is that nor correct? Although I understand and gr what you say re- maybe too much straying off the path with his version of VooDoo child, but then he must have been a non-conformist as every musician. I believe this song was something special to Stevie, and it takes him, as well as he takes it, on a different journey every time. He goes somewhere and we watch, listen and wait for him to return. We all just want him to take us with him, him and Jimi. ThankX for reaction to a very different version. El Macombo performance is the usual reaction choice and it IS fantastic. I love Cold Shot from this show. More SRV. ☮️to all.
Hey Mike👋 Thanks for checking this out🎸🎶. Every time I watch this one I am reminded of how much Stevie loved Jimi and would tell people he often felt Jimi's spirit, especially when he was playing his songs. At the very last concert before the crash, audience members and others who knew Stevie well, all remarked that when Stevie played Voodoo Chile for the last time that night, they could see Jimi's spirit as well! So I think on this night Jimi must have been close by cuz Stevie sure didn't want to quit playing. I can agree about less is more and the part I loved so much after he shook his shoulders and played muted strings for a while was a great addition. Overall I don't know who else could even endure the intensity and riff as long as that went on. Thanks for bringing this🎉🎊🙌👏
Thanks for recommending this one. Huge SRV fan and I hadn't seen this one yet. I don't think anyone has ever been able to play such amazing Hendrix covers with so much of their own stamp on it but still be faithful to the groove and feel of the original..
I am always here for SRV!!!
