In the closing years of his life, Grant Hart was extremely active here on TH-cam and would respond to a ton of comments about the band. It's hard to overstate how badly he is missed.
@@mraaronhd It's interesting how they aren't considered emocore, yet their raw, heart on sleeve emotional post-hardcore sound on that album influenced many emo bands.
For any reason I see here Grant Hart and think on Dave Ghrol. Why the hell isn't Grant as famous and praised as Dave? He's a fuk'n genius, has tremendous drum skills and can even sing very well whilst drummin'. FUCK THAT! Grant Hart should be on that pedestal instead of the foo fighter. Not disrespect intended for Ghrol,
Great comment- I think he would’ve been praised more had there been social media but it was flyers, word of mouth and mix tapes that spread the magic of these incredible bands that came of 80s America.
Just imagine this album was done in one take including this song. I was listening to Chris Jericho’s podcast and they had Mould on talking wrestling stuff. When he said Husker Du. I had to go back in my memory bank. I admit this band flew over my head when I started playing guitar and music in the late 80’s. Then find out these guys were from my hometown. I think my family knows Greg (Henry Sibley) and Grant (SSP) as they went to high school with them
How this??? I just has "pink turns to blue" in my head - after mir than at least 10 years I did't even think of Hüsker Dü at all. I sponaneously thought I could look it up in TH-cam - and now I read that Grant died just two days ago??? Rest in Peace Grantyou were on of my heroes
Filip Pandrc Probably because it was a professionally shot for telecast. I recommend that you check out the "Live in Camden Palace" DVD that came out a few years ago which is from their appearance on "Live In London". That's on TH-cam too.
RAFAEL DIOGO pois é man, eu quando descobri essa banda quase tive um infarto kkk, tamanho foi a surpresa, sem falar que graças ao Husker conheci outra banda foda chamada The Replacements.
87 I was 7, and all there was in the radio was freakin hair metal crap. I had to wait until 1992 to listen to bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc., that would eventually take me back to Husker Du, and Dinosaur Jr. and The Replacements. Until this day it amazes me that music like this was being played in the 80’s.
you're dead wrong. being in their 50s does not equate to being the rolling stones. the pixies, mission of burma, guided by voices, dinosaur jr and the jesus lizard got back together and they're all fucking killing it live. trust me, i've seen them
Going out each day to score, she was no whore before me Celebrating every day the way she thought it should be And I don't know what to do Now that pink has turned to blue She was always by my side and never tried to leave Standing up for me and like a tree for what she believed And I don't know what to do Now that pink has turned to blue No more rope and too much dope, she's lying on the bed Angels pacing, gently placing roses 'round her head And I don't know what to do Now that pink has turned to blue
I'm pretty sure they won't ever tour again...because God hates us and Satan is busy. If I ever get on a make a wish foundation I'm demanding Husker Du.
I've seen almost every band you've listed as well, in the 90's, when they were relevant live acts. Though, to be fair, GBV technically never broke up. They're an act who's lead singer refuses to stop making music under the same moniker as his 1st band. Like Pink Floyd did with Syd. That's more a cash grab. And yes, pining about how great music was when you were young and hoping the old band get's back together for one last hurrah does make you that guy who say's the same about the Stones.
In the closing years of his life, Grant Hart was extremely active here on TH-cam and would respond to a ton of comments about the band. It's hard to overstate how badly he is missed.
Combining Punk with Beatles melodies - true inventors. Godfathers of Grunge! . RIP Grant
And emo as well! They built the foundation of emo with Zen Arcade! Such a great truly underrated band!
@@mraaronhd It's interesting how they aren't considered emocore, yet their raw, heart on sleeve emotional post-hardcore sound on that album influenced many emo bands.
...because nobody else sang melodies but the Beatles????
Did the buzzcoks do the same thing??
@@pier9h233 Yes they did. Husker Du was influenced equally by the Buzzcocks, the Beatles, and the Ramones.
Greg's impression of a chicken before doing that high kick at around 0:57 might be the greatest stage move in rock history!
It was like he was checking for traffic before he crossed the stage.
Kkkkkkk,Yes Chicken.
Despite only being a few words long, this is still one of the most haunting and saddest choruses in a punk rock song.
The Huskers were so balls out awesome and essential to punk rock music. Goddamn.
For goddamn
I only wish they someday see the comments in this video. Almost thirty years after and people still need their music. Fuckin legends
Genuinely upset to hear about Grant Hart. This was the song I immediately wanted to hear. R.I.P. Grant Hart.
Same here. RIP Mr. Hart.
same
Greg is having so much fun hahaha
RIP Grant, a powerhouse drummer and rock legend!
@Noble Failures I'd like to see you do better, panty waste
The SHAME that GREEN DAY is in RNRHOF & HUSKER DU isn’t. One of the greatest bands of all time!🙏🏾🤘🏾✊🏾

Behold, the Huskers invent power pop punk!
Genuinely one of the most mesmerizing songs I've heard.
Can't even explain the feeling that chorus gives me.
I think this band needs remixed rereleases more than an other on the planet!
Ginn would never >:(
I like Grant Hart's snare drum, total energy.
Godspeed Grant. RIP
Grant`s voice is superb here!
Minneapolis just lost another music legend. RIP Grant!
Rest in Peace Grant. This is by far the best live version of this song.
Greg's tache is the eighth wonder of the world
This is a gem. Good quality audio and video. Grant killing It, Bob shredding licks, and Greg having a ball up there. RIP Grant.
Strong singer and drummer. Guitar and Bass both KILL IT ! BEST TRIO FROM MPLSSTP
0:45 Grant rises from behind Bob's amps to watch himself drum

LOL ... great call!
R.I.P Grant Hart

BEFORE WE GET TO NEW DAY RISING, LET'S SNEAK IN A LIVE VIDEO OF HUSKER DU PLAYING PINK TURNS TO BLUE IN FINLAND IN 1987.
Greg Norton had some fancy footwork on stage when he played his bass!

RAFAEL DIOGO pois é man, eu quando descobri essa banda quase tive um infarto kkk, tamanho foi a surpresa, sem falar que graças ao Husker conheci outra banda foda chamada The Replacements.
Really makes you think that there are 2 people out there who searched for a good quality Hüsker Dü live video and managed to press dislike
What a great band!!!! Miss u Grant ❤❤
Love that this video got served up to me. What a great song, and this '87 Pink Pop gig is one of their best overall. Thanks for sharing!

Os pais do Punk Rock Melódico.
Nothing to do man, the sound of Husker Du is a mix of Hardcore Punk, Punk Rock and Alternative Rock!!!
Singing & playing at the same time what a fucking beast
SUPERCOOL
lovely..
Those 3 people who don't like this are weirdos!
Greg is an INCREDIBLE performer
best moustache in Hardcore/punk!
I'm not crying, you're crying!! 😭😭😭

Fishing rod and beach umbrella at 1:20
Sooooo coool!
GRANT HART we miss ya
I'm missing a band who had already split up one year before I got into primary school.
Rock and Roll.
Greg Norton👍💪⚡
Going out each day to score, she was no whore before me
Celebrating every day the way she thought it should be
And I don't know what to do
Now that pink has turned to blue
She was always by my side and never tried to leave
Standing up for me and like a tree for what she believed
And I don't know what to do
Now that pink has turned to blue
No more rope and too much dope, she's lying on the bed
Angels pacing, gently placing roses 'round her head
And I don't know what to do
Now that pink has turned to blue
get me a time machine and a ticket...
This concert, first Hendrix concert with voodoo chile, and Nirvana instore at Rhino records. My top 3 time machine music destinations.
Rip grant.
Why they were the best band of the 80s, IHMO. (Although, objectively, tied with Talking Heads.)
I’m still turning pink to blue.........
I love watching this at 1.25x
Energy
According to Grant , either at a funeral or in court.
2020 im knowing this song... Fuckiing Dü
Kids , this is how you do it
Nice bass bouncin'
Shit yes!!
muuito fodaaaa!!!!!!!!
__HÜSKER DÜ__
Ill add a comment because I know one night Dave Grohl will watch the great Grant Hart for inspiration and he is not wrong in doing so.
So bad ass
🙂
God these guys were fucking awesome. Green Day ain't shit. I wish I was born earlier so I could have seen them.
Grant Hart
poor guy
no justice in this world sometimes
I'm pretty sure they won't ever tour again...because God hates us and Satan is busy.
If I ever get on a make a wish foundation I'm demanding Husker Du.
@lyonslaforet - I can't see that ever happening mate. Bob Mould doesn't have any respect for the other two. I just read his auto-biography.
BOB!
Mike mcready has stolen the moves around on stage from this video
Skipping in reverse
oh that's simple: NEVER. they aren't exactly on friendly terms
0:58
This is about heroin overdose. I've unfortunately seen it first hand.
someone broke a string
This song about herion?
