Great stuff but all of this already exists in Flutter (renders via Skia). It has all the tools someone would need to develop across platform apps. Dart isn’t really a difficult language. It resembles typescript. The framework requires some learning. Google is continuously improving the framework/language. Their TH-cam channel is constantly releasing tutorials. You would argue that you could use JavaScript/TypeScript everywhere - frontend/backend. I would say it depends on each case. If that’s not gonna put any limitations on functionality & performance that your app requires then go ahead. Otherwise you gotta look over the fence.
React native is just js layer between native components on each platform, flutter is like web canvas all does by skia render. In RN world you could recompile js part only and fix a bag without whole build pipeline up to the APP store
@@ancill6355 you do realize that with RN Skia, there will be no native components. Everything will be rendered via Skia. Because that yields better performance and better control over the displayed graphics (no surprises between different platforms) Flutter is now one step ahead in this regard. They are moving to a newer rendering engine called Impeller. Impeller adapts very well with platform native renderers - IOS metal and android Vulkan. This means a huge boost in graphics performance.
Loving all this output - these tools bring so much joy to the process of building beautiful user experiences. A challenge to you: Can it be done in React Native (with skia and reanimated): the iOS weather app. Notes of interest: glassmorphism applied to the backdrop weather image (presumably using BackdropBlur) with multiple components that are nested in a scrollable view. Is it then also possible to make these components respond to press events?

Hello! There is a solution in react-native to send a request in background at 30 seconds interval. I use expo and try background-fetch but it doesn't work.
Think this is a Flutter killer release. (not that flutter has to die, but it just removes one of the main reasons for picking flutter over RN: making nice graphic and animations)
Why would someone want to use react native with skia? I mean, a lot of flutter developers would like to compile to real native code, but i dont know y someone would stop using The native transpiler original solution to use skia... It seems like too much work to make something just alike, just to use skia graphics? It has some cool features but idk, doesnt seem worth the work
