Thank you for not letting me rush away and buy this haha. It's really still not there. The level of tinkering needed is too much even for a seasoned gadget freak like me. That screen and the intuitiveness of use is amazing, but it also feels as if the unit was worked on by teams on different "levels". Great great walkthrough, thanks for the video!
That playback mode is a feature I think. That gives you another option for a playback channel, leaving you with multiple playback channels. The RCP cannot do that.
Great video. Does the bigger version have the same automix update for four channels? Also, do you recommend any other mixer like this for auto mix (dugan etc)?
Although my response is somewhat delayed, I must commend you on your thorough analysis, which I wholeheartedly agree with. I have repeatedly packed and unpacked the product, and as an ardent fan of Mackie, I find it both perplexing and cumbersome. Nonetheless, I have decided to retain it for the time being.
Thanks for the great video. In relation to the automix. How would it work if you were a few people (using the bigger device with 4 XLR)? Should it not just prioritise mics where the people are talking? If there’s crosstalk then sure the priority makes sense. But I wouldn’t want the priority 4 person to get less signal when they are the only one talking. Cheers.
On the bigger device you’d have 3 different priorities: low, medium and high. I did not have the chance yet to test it with the new firmware, but it is for sure not that sensitive or quick to allocate all gain to the speaker(s) - there are devices capable of this (the “Dugan”-automixers), but they cost several thousands. This one really is effective in case of cross-talk, and also not to pick up that much noise from the anyway less active participant(s), like breathing noises, etc.

Can you connect it directly to a camera that supports USB mics?
can i use my existing usb mic with the rodecaster duo?! i have a steelseries alias usb version
Nice review 👌 thankyou
Thank you!
Are there any latency issues with these digital mixers?
Great vid.. Regards
hooking the phone via bluetooth negates the need for the phone plug
Assuming it works. Which is not always the case ie with the RødeCaster ProII/Duo. On those occasions I really would have preferred a wired connection.
wrong only windows need drivers
