This skit is based on Jay Kordich, the Juiceman,. He had infomercials in the 90's for his juice machine, and they are almost as funny as the Juice Weasel. His eyebrows were just as wild as Jim Carey's.
@@bigislander72 You are correct. I was thinking more of the pulling a semi with his teeth bit. Didn’t Lalanne do similar shit? In the water too? But yeah…..the ‘bit’ was Jay Kordich.
@@carolinagoldbug983 crazy stuff like that! Swimming from Alcatraz, pulling boats swimming, underwater swimming for long periods. Now it definitely seems they combined the two, Kordich for the main part and a little Lalanne extreme athleticism...due to the juice? I don't think juicer dude could even come close to Lalannes fitness.
Carrey is probably a composite of LaLanne (superhuman feats at a very advanced age) and Kordich (looks and speaking style). Both were promoting juicers in the early 90s. David Allan Grier is a parody of Mike Levey, the sweater-wearing, overenthusastic host of an infomercial series called "Amazing Discoveries" on which LaLanne would promote the Juice Tiger. These promos were constantly on overnight TV at that time.
Jack LaLane. He was on of the first ever health & fitness personalities on TV back in the 50s, iirc, with an exercise segment (or program, it was before my time) before branching out into juicers much later in his career.
@@mjaada - they both had juice infomercials. I think Carey is drawing inspiration from both of them because he looks more like Jay but I remember Jack used to do those crazy stunts pulling cars and whatnot.
Yes, Jim can be an amalgamation of Jay & Jack, but David Alan Grier does say "Jay Kordich", plus you can see that in the crazy white receding hairline & bushy eyebrows (& jumpsuit) that Jay was known for. They did both die in their mid 90's, so perhaps adding vegetable/fruit juicing in your diet can help, although genetics, environment & lifestyle (stress) also play a role. I actually have a juicer myself, but can't recall which brand it is, it could be LaLanne's for all I know.
😂Heheheheh. Jim didn't even need to say anything. His hair, and crazy, white eyebrows made me laugh. I used to wonder if David Alan Grier got his sweater from Bill Cosby.
They made Jim Carrey look-alike Jay Kordich, the Juiceman. Especially with the furrowy eyebrows. In the actual infomercials, that guy actually look like that.
that's as big part of what makes it so funny. i don't think these guys knew what he was parodying. it's much funnier if you've seen the original infomercial
That show was great. Was on when I was in my early 20s. I was in love with the Fly Girls. That blonde one who married some record producer was off the charts hot but they were all beautiful.
I remember showing this to one of my closest friends growing up. Me and him laughed for almost an hour. Now, I’ll never forget that night ever. Thank you for reminding me of something so wholesome!!
Guys, so happy you don't stop the skit but just let it play. It is so frustrating when other channels keep interrupting and stopping the video they are reacting to.
In Living Color was before its time, so many great skits. Does anyone else remember the one where Damon (Wayans) plays a hobo looking for a deal in a pub? "How much for a beer?" "Good lawd! How about I give you 25 cents and you wring out the bar towel in my mouth instead?" .... "How much on those pistacchios?" "Good lawd! How about I give you 30 cents and I get to lick the red stuff off your fingers?" ... priceless!
You should look at that In Living Color sketch where Jim Carrey played doctor Jack Kevorkian in "Dr Jack Kevorkian's Book Of Home Remedies". Even though it is a sensitive and controversial subject that should not be made light of, but it's still funny as shit.
Grier is a parody of Mike Levey, the host of an infomercial series called "Amazing Discoveries", which in the early 90s would air in the middle of the night. One of the products they promoted was the Juice Tiger, which featured Jack LaLanne as a guest. LaLanne would do superhuman things despite being 70+ years old. Carrey is a composite of LaLanne and Jay Kordich, who promoted a different juicer on late-night infomercials.
This is in my top ten In Living Color bits, he plays that Juicy Jay( an old dude that did infomercials in the early 90's for his Juicer) to perfection.

One of the funniest skits from that show. This show was an unpaid babysitter when my mom was studying to be a RN back in the day
