I remember "run what you brung" night was Fridays, and motocross was Thursdays. I used to run my 1970 Buick GS 455 down the track for fun. I never really ran it hard because it was just a street rod, and not an all out race car.

Thanks for the memories...I would go every Wednesday or was it Thursday for sportsman's night... you could run your street car. No sprayed skies, no school shootings, people having fun... those were the days. Thanks again!

High School Scholarship races and of course the Wednesday grudge races.
Hot car stagging and push starting in front of the fans was cool.

I bought my very first car in 1980. It was a Red 66 Chevelle SS with a fully built Buick 427. The owner called it a Bracket Racer and raced it at strips around California. I think he lived in Woodland Hills California. The hood might have been yellow and the engine was dressed in Gold Moroso covers. The car was a total sleeper.
I don’t have any pics of it and none of my family or friends have any photos either.
I keep trolling on TH-cam videos like these hoping to see it. No luck yet.

Wow takes me way back used to help out on Brian Smith's car. Remember Jim & Audrey Isrial's Potent Pony, Capt'n Crunch, and so many more of the cars out there.

Orange County International Raceway..... O.C.I.R. - “The County“…."The Super Track" I helped build the track at only 13 years old in July 1967. They gave us tickets to the first event and I was infected, injected addicted to drag racing since. I was at the track over 100 times for the next 18 years until "The Last Drag Race" Oct 29th 1983. I always wanted to make a scale track so I finally hit ebay and bought every legendary car I could find that I saw at the track prior to 83. My one of a kind Tribute display has over 400 cars and a scale 22 foot drag strip. With a monitor playing every video I could find on the track. This one will be added. I made a video of my display that is at my page

We would rent the track for test and tune. 25 bucks or 40 bucks if you wanted the meat wagon there.
