      I'm sure a lot of us have had this happen... I've been thinking about leaving more of my "accidents and mistakes" in. Its more real and honest about the process! Thank you so much and I'm really glad you liked it!

    What a super adorable little moon! Sorry you learned the hard way that styrofoam doesn’t make a good armature base. As soon as a saw that I was like no! no! no! mostly because it sends off toxic fumes when it melts but also it can expands when it heats up. Bad bad stuff, definitely need to use stable oven safe materials for your base. Maybe a paper mache base.. you’d have to leave an opening somewhere unseen for the heated air to escape so it doesn’t do the same thing (expand and explode). There definitely aren’t any ready made spheres that are lightweight, and ready to use. I’ve been wracking my brain for about 10-15 minutes and paper mache globe is all I came up with . As someone who’s worked with polymer clay on and off for decades, you want to avoid anything that has a low melting temperature, (especially plastics) for anything that you are putting in the oven. If I think of anything else non-toxic that is would work, I’ll comment it here. You are very talented and I am enjoying your videos immensely. 😊

      Hey there! I was wondering myself if those paper mache spheres would work! I may try that! U really did learn thr hard way on this one! I'll never do it again!🤣 I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos! Thank you so much!

    First off, as usual, man. You continue to brighten my day with these simply wonderfully, and innovative videos. Your techniques are always so astounding, and blow my mind everytime. So inventive, informative, but most importantantly, entertaining!
    SECONDLY! With regards to the unfortunate accident with the first attempt, have you ever thought of maybe getting yourself a heat gun. I use that to harden my polymer clay all the time. At least on a surface level, I can harden it enough to be painted, and I've never run into cracking, or shattering projects.
    Maybe worth looking into!

      Hey thank you! I'm really glad you enjoy the videos! I'm always concerned if I talk too much or if I'm corney or lame! Oh yes I do use a heat gun quite a bit. Especially the ones that don't fit in my oven! I think what happened was the Styrofoam ball... I think it created a gas on the inside. All I know is I won't be using them again! 🤣 I hope someday I can make more than one video a month! Thanks again! I really appreciate your support and encouragement!

      @@clayformations1638 You are NEVER corny or lame!!!! Dude, if there's one thing I KNOW I and other people enjoy about your videos, is how you discuss your process. I for one, prefer it to sitting to an interesting, though completely silent timelaps video. Always so good to hear the voice of the artist behind the project!

      @@Denizen-Unknown Thank you so much! I think they call what I feel sometimes is imposter syndrome. Many creators have spoke on it. Where you feel inadequate while trying to be confident in the video! They always say... just do your best and be yourself! So im just going to continue on making videos and being myself!

      @@clayformations1638 I don't know what kind of glue you're using, but I've heard super glue and other CA glue makes some fumes that are bad for you when baked.
      EDIT: Should have done some research before posting hearsay. I don't see anything saying it's dangerous to bake CA glue, just that the bond weakens if baked.

    Great stuff as usual! I really look forward to your videos each month to see what you're going come up with. I have a question for you, did you make that drill chuck thing yourself or can that be purchased somewhere? I have been thinking that's a pretty slick setup ever since I first saw it.

    • @clayformations1638
      @clayformations1638  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate you letting me know! Yes! I purchased a drill chuck (by itself) from Home Depot, then I took epoxy sculpt and a 1/4 inch galvanized threaded pipe and attached it to a galvanized flange then used wood screws to attach it to my sculpting turn table. I prefer to use it because if frees up both of my hands!

      @@clayformations1638 well it’s pretty slick, I had no idea you could buy a drill chuck by itself! Next time I’m in Home Depot I will take a look! Thanks!
