- A new era of mustang competitions kicked off in July with the first ever Mustang Challenge, a competition showcasing the mustangs in the western discipline. The Mustang Challenge brought many new and exciting changes to how mustang competitions have been done in the past, often in a 100 day timeline.
Changes included a much longer timeline, allowing exhibitors to more thoroughly train and prepare their horses. Previous show experience was required, ensuring that this was not the first time these mustangs had been in the show ring. Perhaps one of the more significant changes was allowing exhibitors to compete on someone else's horse - forming individual partnerships between trainers and owners.
Exhibitors came from all over the country to the South Point Arena in Las Vegas for three days of competitions. Classes were held in ranch riding, reining, and trail. The top ten went on to complete in a two part final; first a compulsory maneuvers class, followed by the top ten freestyles. Here, we heard from numerous competitors as they participated in the inaugural Mustang Challenge.
This event was held by Mustang Champions, a non-profit dedicated to the adoption and placement of msutangs in holding. The goal of this event was to showcase the mustang in the western disciplines and show their potential as a companion, and as a champion.
In September, they will also be hosting the first-ever English mustang competition, the Mustang Classic: www.mustangcla...

Great video Britta. Again you exceeded expectations! I really do appreciate all the behind-the-scenes conversations with all the trainers, showcasing their journeys and each horse.
Hearing about Ginger duke pulling Beja Vu off the show, is very considerate.

Awesome video thanks for sharing! There were so many beautiful horses! Chris Phillips story is amazing and I'm so happy for him. I'm also very happy for Roses are Red! My favorite horse was Sunny and it was awesome to see his happy ending!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! It was really fun getting to know some of the horses and trainers a little better! I wish I could’ve shared more stories- it was such a diverse group of people and stories there!

Thanks, Sharon! Yeah, a lot of the Mustang things seem to be going onto the classic! Pretty cool that they can do both. I’m looking forward to it🤩
Really looking forward o the English Mustang show. Used to ride Junior Jumpers, and am curious to see how the Mustangs do. If I could ever get a horse again, I'd consider a Mustang thanks to all you guys and your horses.
Right!?! It’ll be really cool to see!
Ahhh! I’m so excited to see this! I loved all the behind the scenes with the trainers. Casino was my favorite 💗
I’m so glad! Yes, I loved casino too! He was so sweet!❤
Such a nice video to watch. Especially for me from The Netherlands because we do not have these competitions/shows over here. My 16 year old niece is attending highschool this year near Springfield Missouri. Do you know if there are such of any horse shows/events there? Or where I can find the information so we can learn more about mustangs?
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I’m not so sure about local shows near Missouri… I’m sure there are though!
As for a mustang adoption events (which can be fun to go to), this is the link with all the dates and locations! www.blm.gov/programs/wild-horse-and-burro/adoption-and-sales/events

Thank you!!💜 I was just looking at my schedule for the next one- possibly next month! 🤞
You are outstanding ❤
Mustangs will always be the best iconic horse breeds for horse loving humans from all over western USA along with other popular equine breeds such as the nokota horse, bashkir curly, thoroughbred and appaloosa! 🐎 💕 😉 👍
Mustangs are hands down my favorite 💜💜
@@TheProjectEquestrianAgreed and thanks.
Really love this show ❤️👏 much better to see relaxing showing rather then watching your massage or western pleasure of the modern era showing has gotten so fake looking
I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊😊
Oh my gosh!!!! I’m so excited I have been waiting so impatiently ever sense you posted the snippets🤣 Thank you so much for filming I wanted to see this challenge soooo bad!!!❤️❤️
you talked about the mustang Classic in September at Kentucky! I will hopefully be able to watch some of it we are going to the Kentucky horse park with my mustang Boaz to compete at the Americas Next Top Youth Trainer challenge!! And I’m really hoping I can take a few peeks at the challenge!!🤩😍
Haha yea this was a hard video- there was so much going on! And I’m sad about all the stories I didn’t share here.
I’m glad to be back now!
That would be so cool if you made it to the classic! I would love to meet you! Fun that you were doing that with Boaz now!
@@TheProjectEquestrian I can only imagine how difficult it is!! You do such a wonderful job on every single video you do I can definitely tell how much you put into your videos for us I know we all so so very much appreciate it!!❤️❤️
I hope so too! I think that would be fun to meet you also!!!!❤️🫶🏻
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you saying that!
@@TheProjectEquestrian your welcome!❤️❤️
My favorite part about the questions they ask the top ten before giving the results was Luke Castro getting asked “Why’d you name your horse JLo?” And him responding with “because she’s got a big booty” 😂😂😂
Lol, that was funny!😂
Is anyone going to the Fort Worth Mustang Makeover competition September 6/7?
