Learning about this eruption in my environmental chemistry class. The injection of sulfur into the atmosphere from this eruption led to ozone depletion the following two years! Interesting stuff

I was there,from Subic bay you'd the cloud was slowly covering the sky. By 3 in the afternoon was pitch black. Raining mud and lightning,not fun

I was there when it happened we lived literally not even 1 mile away from Clark air base it was horrible it was pitched black and you gotta understand this explosion happened before noon and it was pitch black like it was midnight at night ashes was every my mom gave us wet wash cloths to cover our nose and mouth my aunt lived in San Fernando and even there it was the same and then earth quakes after earth quakes followed the Philippines was already kicking Americans out the country and this happening speeded the process for them they was even loading Filipinos on the planes that where not citizens
