@beachbummm69 , The rings require that the engine is completely disassembled, but it is more likely that the cylinder is worn than the rings. The seats are near impossible to change. Most EU1000i will consume oil faster after about 600 hours of operation and will need oil added about every 30 to 70 hours.
Reassembly is not as hard as some find it to be. The key is draining the oil and laying the generator on its left side. The inverter is held between the two covers on rubber spacers which have to be positioned correctly. All in all the thing's a nightmare to disassemble, but with care and a whole lot of patience it can be easily done. You just have to be prepared for the awful task.
@beachbummm69 It is important that the oil is only filled to the recommended level (bottom of the filler/drain hole when on level ground) to prevent premature wear and buildup in the vent system; this is the main cause of failure for this generator. There are no oversize pistons or rings available. A heavier oil (20w50) and a new spark plug may help.
Not if you watch THIS video. Excellent video with good closeups. Also, the EU1000i IS NOT! very similar to the EU2000i which makes this video all the more valuable. Thanks very much.
You could unplug the power connector the the on off switch but then you would leave your fuel pump to go dry and that's not good, or else, make your own stopper :)
Never did a seat change, valves are easy but tend to last a long long time. The cylinder wears out first, the rings are more durable than the cylinder.
that thing would be great to use in a fully electric car thus if someone knew how to hook it up to charge the batteries. Just think unlimited driving range with very low fuel cost. ( From what I understand It cost 5 dollar at these quick charge station to charge up you batteries in an fully electric car )
I need your help, I got a generator like this one and he's got the cut wires. I want you to send me some pictures of the spinning parts of this generator !!! "please".
Talk about a piece of shit of a high end generator!! All that just to change the cord ? Wow !!! It’s so user friendly. Y not just overhaul the motor since it s out!!! Lol !!!
Your video saved my generator for an emergency repair. Thanks!

Yes, the rings are iron/steel but the cylinder is uncoated aluminum. Once these hot 700-1000 hours they tend to smoke sue to a worn out cylinder.

Your production would be helped A LOT by using an lapel mike plugged into your camera. You can find some inexpensive ones at Radio Shack.

The manual says fill to the top i.e. ready to overflow.
Was this recorded on a film??? It has such a 90s feel to it..
Taking them apart is easy, putting it all together is a nightmare!

@beachbummm69 And if you have not tried it yet, replace the air filter as a restriction could cause these symptoms.
I dropped the spark plug into the metal shroud in mine...just took it apart to get it out...was hoping for a reassembly video here.
Just done that myself - what a nightmare! There ought to be a warning beside the spark plug hole to tell you to be ultra careful...
@@rampak1 i managed to get mine back together but it took a bit of effort. Best of luck to you with yours.
assembly is the reverse of assembly, nd is outside the scope of this video.
@@mattsengines did you say "assembly is the reverse of assembly."?
Lol. I see what you meant to say.
good video, thanks, I thought these eu1000i generators had a cooling fan built in, I did not see it? do they one?
Flywheel cools the engine
not unless you put one in your self, its a somewhat tight little unit as far as stuff goes
thank you very much for the vid!
Who Will Put Is Back Togeather ? It Didn't Go In The Trash ?

how hard is it to change the rings and valve seats on this genny? mine smokes and leaks a lot of oil...

You'd have to run it for 500 hours to charge a car. Electric cars are just another socialist power grab.
thats the camera focus-ing
can i plugin a e-starter in this generator?
If you put a ton of effort into designing one yourself. I did, its a PITA.
plz make the vedio of tuning Honda EX7
Thor's side gig !
1:45 it's not a fuel shut off -- it's an electrical switch.
It's both a fuel and electric cut off.
dam, i thought it was a girl at first. lol
a.p.s I think you are still correct!

sorry, i dont have any of these generators any more
Didnt know lola was a mechanic lol
Or you could wall paper the walls !!
Looks like a pain in the ass. Remind me not to do this.
I love you
i love you too
That keyboard noise in the background is damn annoying!
Yes very.
Poor sound owing to echo from walls you need a personal microphone
