Marcus you are a hero It takes me back to the days when I was laying in water Changing clutches don’t knock yourself regarding your fabrication no one was born a fabricator everyone learns and that’s what you are doing
Thank you Marcus nice to see your dad out in the sunshine. Important to take your time and ensure that new panels fit correctly as to maintain the chassis strength and regidity. Cheers have a great week end.
Top marks for bravery for having a go at enlarging the transmission tunnel. Hope you can treat yourself to a MIG set for the welding (Get a refillable gas canister, don't waste cash on disposable cans). Practice on all your scrap attempts, by moking them up in same position as the real car. If you have somebody else lined up then see if you can have a go as a intro. Look forward to the next installment, and we'll done again.😊
Keep going with your tunnel plates, take your time if your welding them in tack them and shape them in from the outside ,grind them all off smooth and paint ,then maybe use a tube of seam sealer inside to just smooth in the back of the weld seams using tape so neat and tidy to paint over inside, good luck great video,ps make sure ester doesnt get sparks or any fires inside lol
@@marcushayesford it will bro 👍🏽 , on my escort year's ago all I had was gas welding but you could also bet it into shape as well , but after I did a rough job on my car☹️ because of putting a different engine in it, then finding out later it could of been done differently ☹️ , I thought of a better way wich you can buy now prefabricated from some places whole tunals or have them made , it's annoying as if I waited and talked to the right people I would of saved alot of time and money, as alot of ford parts can be swapped over back then but also would of had to modify some stuff 🤙 like alot of guys where putting cortina 2 liters pinto engine in escort or V6 or V8 all ford parts later we put Toyota Celica 5 speeds in, then ford came out with a 5speed gearbox then they did what you did with your engine swap over the years 👍🏽
I was going to say exactly the same thing! Plus you can use a filler weld (going round in small circles) to fill the holes under the battery tray, but yes YCR I am subbed to, and spend hours watching!

I’m no hero mate, I’m just an idiot with a camera and a weird obsession for rusty Old Fords! 😀. . . . But thanks! 👍
We wouldn’t want it any other way keep it up Marcus
So glad after all the struggle you could eventually see the light at the side of the tunnel!
Brilliant work Marcus 🙏🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙❤️

top tip! put a lump of copper behind the holes when you're filling the holes with weld 😎
use thinner metal tack a corner and work from that you should always make a template out of cardboard

Yes mate! 👍
Nice one once again Marcus
Put the plate INSIDE the car and hold with a magnet and scribe FROM the outside

Great video must have been nerve racking cutting the tunnel the first time but learn news skills every day hope get the car to the show

Go with 1 mm or even 0,8. Shouldnt be an issue. Also try find small pieces with surface treatment. Z100 for example
That's great Marcus it always take's time to make things fit and modify and you got to start from somewhere , be good when it's welded in 👍🏽
Hopefully it will look ok once Iv welded it and smothered it in sealer and Olympic blue paint! 😀

Good work mate. U got balls. I'll give u that. I couldn't do that to a mk 1 escorts. I'd be so nervous 👍
Great job there 👏 ,
Where could I buy them black rings with the adjusters on them , Any link would be appreciated , thanks
Marcus light at the end of the tunnel 😂 when you weld the plates in the tunnel plug weld the holes in inner wing job done permanently good luck

By the time it started raining I was in too deep! 😀
Doesn’t the automatic have a bigger tunnel? Maybe look into that?
Hi marcus, U should have just put the plate inside the car to get the shape, then marked it to shape!!
Cover the hole with masking tape trace around it from inside cut it out lay it on yr plate and thats the size and shape you need.
Why don't you get a gazebo for your garage when it rains.
To be honest I don’t have space to store it anywhere in my garage. 🙁
@@marcushayesford they do fold down quite small depending on what you get. Be handy to keep everything dry especially the engine bay area.

Morning, why not weld you plates on the inside and fill the outside ? Love your videos xx
You could drill the holes out a bit & plug with rubber grommets then seam seal over & paint
Thanks for your advice mate! 👍
It's really difficult to weld sharp corners or edges mate so try and make different shapes where you can 👍

If you were the cut it out square and then turn it round to then the in side
sorry mate but as a fabricator that was painful 😲
