The Arambai Tenggol at one point of time in History was an armed cavalry unit of the Kangleipak army which used the Arambai(poison darts) as its main weapon. This was the historical significance. The temple shown here is located inside the Kangla Fort Complex known as the Ebudhou(Godly Ancestor) Pakhangba Temple, it is one of the most important temple in Meitei Folk religion(not hinduism). Lord Pakhangba is believed to be the progenitor of the Meitei Clans. Not to be mistaken, the title “Pakhangba” has been adopted by the Kings of Manipur.
