These two are so great together! Ive loved them all the way from 'Firefly' to Nathan's "appearance" as an Octopus on 'Resident Alien'...just the best! 👍👍
Although Nathan's idea for having Alan on Castle is good... I'd prefer to see Alan as a guest star portraying a taxi driver who has to take Nathan on a crazy ride to get somewhere important. Alan says over his shoulder, "You might want to buckle up, this could get a little interesting". As they weave through traffic, Nathan says, "Oh, God. Oh, God, we're all going to die".
I absolutely love how amazing Nathan is to his fans! He's always so nice and courteous. Renews my faith that there are actually nice, normal people in Hollywood :)
Alan Tudyk getting in my elevator at Flanvention speaking in a British accent and making jokes with Ron Glass and Adam Baldwin also along for the ride... a highpoint in my life. :)
This guy is such an amazing actor and human. I thought he really shined on the show Castle. I remember when him and his wife on the show got married that was such a good episode
Not only is this a great cause...I watch your videos when I'm depressed and think the world is a horrible place. Lol. To watch Nathan and Alan always gets me pumped up to do more good. (tips hat)
I've been watching all the past conversations this week to catch u, and while I'm a casual fan of "firefly" and these guys other work through the years. This is the panel I look forward to watching the most. Good to their hardcore fans(of any of their work), good storytellers, funny, "hardcore" gamers. Plus they just seem like "guys" because they are and this is a perfect venue for them and their fans to interact just as people. Zach has made something different and special with "the nerd machine"/" nerd HQ" and I'll gladly donate even if I can't personally be there (please keep doing the live streaming!!!) Although I will plan time ... Eventually (I'm an weldor and things are booming) to be there live. Keep up the good work and thanks again to EVERYONE!
I didn't know there were "casual fans of Firefly". I thought either you absolutely loved it or just have never seen it. But anyways, I agree, this two together make for a more entertaining panel. And everything that Zach and everyone involved in Nerd HQ do is amazing.
Jeff Lewis My friend watched it (after a recommendation from me) to a half-point and then just left because he thought that they took that "space western" approach... too literal.
Too literal, when I read that, this was the first thing that popped into my head. Wash: [about River] Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science-fiction. Zoë: We live in a spaceship, dear. Wash: So?
Jeff Lewis Besides "too literal space western" his issues with Firefly were the fact that in his opinion it lacks general plot that spans the entirety of the series, and as such it felt like a soap opera. I said that this is to be expected, for a show that was cancelled really quickly, way before its time, that it never had a chance to really start with the main plot, because first episodes ought to be and are devoted to establishing the universe and even with that the history of River Tam is what binds Firefly episodes together and is essentially the main plot. But according to my friend what show should to is to establish the main plot first, get you interested and only then move on to start defining the universe. Which for me is completely opposite. I want to know how the universe works first and got interested in it, and then the focus should move to main plot. Even more funny, said friend used to be pretty successful DnD GM, and there he had to work with previously established universe and rules.
Thank you for posting these panels here. Because Alan & Nathan have fans globally that do not have opportunities to come out as easily to meet them. Through this it feels like we're there.
If Nathan Fillion does a kickstarter to fund a reboot of firefly (erasing the movies story from existence) I think he will be more than able to fund it, I mean If Star citizen a video game managed to raise 50 million USD from the public to get made, I am sure Firefly can top that.
why erase the film? Although Book is dead.. There are just so many ways they could bring back Wash if they really wanted to. I was thinking about what is a despondent Zoey had created a Wash-bot that would slowly learn and become more like the original as the series ran on.. That was my thought anyway.
***** To be honest the movie rushed through the story and burned a lot of bridges that shouldn't have been burned. (Justins idea for a Wash-bot sounds really cool actually, though, cloning him back would make it less sad with Zoey trying to have a relationship with a bot :P ) and as a hallucination time would come and he would have to be removed, and to be honest the chemistry between the crew was phenomenal. As for the rights, well they can be bought (Futurama as an example) :) things CAN be solved. The shows popularity has been increasing with time rather than decreasing and not just in the US but internationally as well.
Jason Todd Yes...the "darker, smater" DC cinematic universe. So smart, in fact, that daddy Kent failed to realize sending his son to save the dog was the more intelligent thing to do because even if Clark was sucked into the tornado, they could always claim it was a miracle he survived. So dark that they have removed nearly all sense of color, going dark literally. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is all that DC wants to be; grittier, darker, more intelligent and mature. If they make it, good for them. But to stand on a high horse now and make claims how much better DC is when they only have one film out the gate so far is just...wrong.
This was a great auction, but definitely agree that the 'Castle' production bring 'Firefly' cast in as guest stars. Lol! When Nathan cleaned up Alan and a person enthusiastically screams '$100' before they have the chance to start off. Overall both of them are amazing people.
Alan's role in RX was amazing. He is literally the only person I remember from the whole thing. He is a middle man drug dealer. He is throwing a party and these kids come back who got drugs from him and he answers the door, "There are people dressed as NAZI's in here!" He wasn't a very good person in the film but he killed it all the same. I recommend it if you want to see him as a different kind of character.
I love watching Nathan and Alan talking and answering questions - but the amount of money geeks are spending on the auction items makes me queasy. Seems obvious to me that I'll never be able to afford to do that... mostly because I just can't bring myself to spend money that I could be using to get groceries on a poster... etc...
True, but I personally agree with you though. I consider myself a geek, but I couldn't spend such an extreme amount of cash on that stuff. Rather save it for a new videogame, or music, or...at the rate it's gong...movie theatre ticket.
Strawberry1771 Can't argue with the generosity in it. Heck, I hear that William Shatner passed a kidney stone and managed to sell it for some obscene amount. I think he also gave that money to charity.
He was very specific to say you've got 1 season left...seemed like he knew something. Castle production was held up last year because of unrest between Fillian and ABC so there could be a lot of truth spilled here in an innocent comment.
I am assuming he's referring to season 8? If I recall correctly, and I could be very wrong, but I thought that he was only contracted through season 8. Which would be "one more" after the just begun 7th season.
And then it came to pass that a geek scientist cloned the impossible love-child of Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk from a sweaty towel bought at NerdHQ 2014...
Always More Fun With Alan. I can see it now, a raffle to raise money for a charity. At certain goals, more fun is added to the list. The winners will spend an adventurous day, incorporating the fun goals, with Alan Tudyk. Much like how GISHWHES is with Misha Collins. #AMFWA Make it happen fans.
I'm one of those hardcore fans of things who goes to the conventions and then buys pretty much nothing at all. I give money to two different charities out of my pay each week and just cant afford to spend heaps of money on cool nerdy items, I really wish I could!
Do these videos for "The Nerd Machine" hinder your scrubbing ability? If so, I understand the logic and need for it, but one of the perks of watching videos online is that I can skip over parts I'm not interested in, restart and watch from a specific point, or replay a part I missed (usually because I got distracted by the comments and had to type something pointless) I tried other videos and only the ones for The Nerd Machine seem to prevent me from moving the playback time indicator. /shrug
always awesome panels with these two. Love them! But..ugh, what's with the camera sometimes? i wanna see what funny thing Alan did but it's staying on Nathan only.
i like the "Questions & Auctions" format, but they shoulda milked it a little more. sounded like those people were ready to give em all their cash. it's for a good cause after all. great to see these guys anytime.
I want to know how to go to this next year. These people we met in line while camping out for Hall H mentioned these panels were going on and that Nathan and Alan were going to be there, but they had no idea how to get access. What's the protocol to attend these things? Where were they hosted in San Diego? Did they rent a ballroom at one of the hotels downtown? Do they cost money? Give me answers or I might poop my pants.

The Conversations for a Cause and Smiles for Smiles (photo ops) do cost money, 20 bucks a pop and all for charity. 3. Convos will not be announced or go on sale until about a week before HQ. They wait for SDCC to announce their full line-up. Tickets are sold online, and understandably they sell out fast since the room only holds about $200 people. They are first come, first served, and the seats are assigned so no camping out needed.4. Sometimes standing room only or extra tickets are sold the day-of/on-site, so you'll want to keep following them on Twitter (last year they also had an app) for updates. 5. Smiles for Smiles are often announced with very little notice, again via Twitter or the app. Usually for those your best shot is to already be at HQ - there are a good amount of people who don't go to SDCC any more, or who couldn't get badges, and they just stay at HQ all 4 days.
These two are so great together! Ive loved them all the way from 'Firefly' to Nathan's "appearance" as an Octopus on 'Resident Alien'...just the best! 👍👍

***** and he needs a couple of dinosaurs on the dash. Indeed it would be amazing
Jack Rabbit IIIIIIII NEEEEEEEDDDD ITTTT
***** yes please!
That's is, or would of been AMAZING!!!!! Of course seeing Adam Baldwin on Castle wasn't half bad either 🤣
Then get speared at the end by a pole.....lol
Alan Tudyk has to be the most popular actor whose character died a long time ago. Great guy - long may he and Nathan live.
Well he also did Tucker and dale vs evil. Good film.
I love that Alan played up the fact that most people seemed to like Nathan more, and instead of getting mad turned it into a joke
The look on Alan's face is priceless at times, like when Nathan said he had hand sanitiser to auction off. It just screams "Your kidding? Right?"
Especially NOW! 😂
Nathan Fillion is, and will always be, my favourite actor!
Mine tooo 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Him and Ben Browder are mine.
I absolutely love how amazing Nathan is to his fans! He's always so nice and courteous. Renews my faith that there are actually nice, normal people in Hollywood :)
alans so unique, 'theres rules to this shit' love him so much
Alan Tudyk getting in my elevator at Flanvention speaking in a British accent and making jokes with Ron Glass and Adam Baldwin also along for the ride... a highpoint in my life. :)
That is amazing!
Luuuuuuucky 😮
I will watch every Nathan and Alan Q&A that's ever made. I love them!
This guy is such an amazing actor and human. I thought he really shined on the show Castle. I remember when him and his wife on the show got married that was such a good episode
"There´s rules to this shit" - i love that guy xd
2019 and still watching
To have a Firefly reunion episode on Castle would just be awesome, just wanna put that out there in the universe.
I like the way you think, buddy.
I've no idea why this is in my recommendations but it's the first time TH-cam has done something right.
Not only is this a great cause...I watch your videos when I'm depressed and think the world is a horrible place. Lol. To watch Nathan and Alan always gets me pumped up to do more good. (tips hat)
Same :)

Always liked that they gave fans gifts during their panels.
Nathan Fillion for president. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I love Alan's jacket! LOVE LOVE LOVE
I love them so much. Wonderful panel as always!
Thank you for posting these panels here. Because Alan & Nathan have fans globally that do not have opportunities to come out as easily to meet them. Through this it feels like we're there.
Have seen this around 5 times since it first happened. Always makes me smile.
Autographed hand sanitizer.
Pretty sure that bottle got used. Thanks Rona.
C'mon... how many people were yelling at the screen during the boomerang bit "LIKE A LEAF ON THE WIND!!"? I couldn't have been the only one. :-)
A thousand dollars??? I could almost buy my own ship for that.
StarTrek reference!!!
Who's gonna fly it, kid? You?
$1,000 for a signed poster? These people are crazy! If only I had that kind of money...
These guys are hilarious together. :) Alan's voices are great!
The 2 people in this world that I absolutely adore!
Such a good panel. And man can those guys raise some money. Legendary!!
OMG, I’m dying of JEALOUSY right now! That is awesome.
They are always so fun!
I love these two
Those guys were such good sports. Love them!
These two are so funny together.
I never knew about this group/ event. I'll be sure to keep an eye out from now on!
21:48 The Wash magnet with the chopstick is the best joke of the Panel, hands down! XD
I love how a poster initially raises more money than a watch.. lol. These panels are really great, I hope to be part of them one day.
love the way Alan Turdyk (or however u spell it) got left out of the title lol

Where do i sign
Oh look, two living legends !
also : WE WANT FIREFLY BACK PLEASE NATHAN AND ALAN (I refuse to accept that Wash is dead)
love you guys
come on marvel...he is 44....give him a fuckin movie and watch the money flow...
He voiced an alien in Guardians of the Galaxy.
N Slater For 5 seconds.. :(
Emrecan Taneri He should play green lantern since he already voiced him in the animated movies.
He doesn't belong in the gayass Marvel Cinematic Universe. He belongs in the Darker smarter DCEU as Hal Jordon Green Lantern in GL CORPS 2020.
Jason Todd Yes...the "darker, smater" DC cinematic universe. So smart, in fact, that daddy Kent failed to realize sending his son to save the dog was the more intelligent thing to do because even if Clark was sucked into the tornado, they could always claim it was a miracle he survived. My headcanon edit:
Nathan: "I have a pair of refrigerator magnets, they're 8-bit Mal & Zoe..."
Alan: "Um..."
Oh please let Alan Tudyk be in that Castle episode!
This cause my mom to enter my room asking "Why are you laughing like a crazy person?" The answer must be funny awesomeness ;) lovely panel! :D
It would be nice if Nathan auctioned off some Castle stuff too.
Nathan's panerls are always such fun.
wonder if anybody ever made him some smorlette. That would be priceless to watch
That hand sanitizer would quadruple in value today!
This was a great auction, but definitely agree that the 'Castle' production bring 'Firefly' cast in as guest stars. Lol! When Nathan cleaned up Alan and a person enthusiastically screams '$100' before they have the chance to start off. Overall both of them are amazing people.

One of tha best panels so far Nathan N Alan is so Hilarious they r asome Lmao auctionin of a rag.
Love these guys!
Such a great time! That hand sanitiser - little did they know…
The dream team!!!!
I love watching Nathan and Alan talking and answering questions - but the amount of money geeks are spending on the auction items makes me queasy. Seems obvious to me that I'll never be able to afford to do that... mostly because I just can't bring myself to spend money that I could be using to get groceries on a poster... etc...
I mean, that being said - the signed Serenity comic book was a potentially good investment...
True, but I personally agree with you though. I consider myself a geek, but I couldn't spend such an extreme amount of cash on that stuff. Rather save it for a new videogame, or music, or...at the rate it's gong...movie theatre ticket.
Or...a trip to comicon even... lol
They give all that money to charity. ^^
Strawberry1771
Can't argue with the generosity in it. Heck, I hear that William Shatner passed a kidney stone and managed to sell it for some obscene amount. I think he also gave that money to charity.
"$425!" I have no idea why I laughed so hard when Alan said that! At a little after 12:35.
love this guys
Haha, he pitched that castle idea at st. louis wizard world. I was there! it was awesome. So funny
Both so drunk in this, yet they are both awesome.
Nathan is pure love :)
WHAT DID ALAN MEAN THis is the LAST SEASON OF CASTLE?!? What does he know that we dont?!!?!
it was a verbal mistake probably, im pretty sure he doesn't know anything about castle lol
He was very specific to say you've got 1 season left...seemed like he knew something. Castle production was held up last year because of unrest between Fillian and ABC so there could be a lot of truth spilled here in an innocent comment.

I loved Nathan in GOTG
"You can download different watch faces, like the iPad from Star Wars."
I think I missed a scene in Star Wars.
That was hilarious!!!
:)
And then it came to pass that a geek scientist cloned the impossible love-child of Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk from a sweaty towel bought at NerdHQ 2014...
alan tudyk's laugh is one of the sexiest sound on the panet.
this is amazing

Make it happen fans.
Firefly... Please ... Just one more movie.
Alan tudyks SUPER talented 😊
This was pretty cool, the 55minutes just flew by.
So good
Who the hell dislikes this?
Awesome, fucking awesome and funny panel.
What show was Nathan talking about around the 10:30 mark?
This looked like it was a fun event...
We should have some more of these...
Oh... Wait... Ummm...
I'm one of those hardcore fans of things who goes to the conventions and then buys pretty much nothing at all. I give money to two different charities out of my pay each week and just cant afford to spend heaps of money on cool nerdy items, I really wish I could!
Firefly, firefly,firefly!!!!!
I want to meet nathion fillion so bad lol
it's a crime firefly was cancelled because this dude is hilarious and he's an actor!
how many actors are also hilarious?
like five total
I could not afford any of the things being sold!
Alyn is the greatest actor
I cried so hard when he died after landing the ship

Man, Nathan. You -need- to use those stamps on Castle.
And the song at the beginning is?
Where do these people get so much money???
Iron man - bam perfect leave it alone.
Iron man 2 & 3.. well... just leave them alone. In a dark corner somewhere.
you know what really grinds my gears? Improper gear meshing. O_O
Why was Alan awkward signing the second poster? Did i miss something?
22:10 that took me a second holy shit
We all know that everyone that got a business card check all boxes... i would.... :P
1 season left of Castle?
It really sucked when Wash died! :(
always awesome panels with these two. Love them! But..ugh, what's with the camera sometimes? i wanna see what funny thing Alan did but it's staying on Nathan only.

Whats the music called?
SirLarzo it's the Nerd HQ 2014 theme song, The Nerd Machine has it up on SoundCloud.
I liked Alan in the movie with Sandra Bullock I think it was 28 days.....
