Not on Mercedes benz, the vehicle will let you know when to replace it on Jeeps or Chrysler's vehicle, yes. Thank you for your question.
After I did mine, I didnt have a check engine light but there was a stored P060A code.
If you have that code after you replace your main and auxiliary battery, then you gotta take your care to an electrician.
