- Learn the surprisingly easy, sewing techniques of gathering, ruffles, and how to fold and make pleats.
In less than 15 minutes, I can show you how to do a simple gather, layered and double-sided ruffles, knife and box pleats. Ruffles are great for clothing, pillowcases, bags, and any other sewing project that could use a cute ruffle embellishment. Pleats are most popular for drapes and clothing.

Thank you. I have never taught sewing before, and I pretty much taught myself with help from my mom and my grandmother. It's nice to be able to share some of what I have learned on TH-cam, and maybe make the process a little easier for some. :)
Thank you! This tutorial was exactly what I needed, my sewing education is based mainly on TH-cam and my own inspiration. And this is so useful.
Thank you so much, sewing is a time honored tradition that is passed on from mother or grandmother to child. I have 3 daughters, however I did not have a mother that knew how to sew. I started self teaching my self 5 yrs ago and have never formally learned how to sew. Thank you thank you I want to teach my daughters so they can pass it on to theirs. Its wonderful woman like you that are willing to teach the young that make sewing live on through time. Thank you
My mom and my grandmother loved to sew, so I was exposed to it at an early age, and began sewing when I was about12 years old. I am not a seamstress, but more of a crafter, or hobbyist. I'm glad I can share some of what I have learned. I'm sure your daughters will be thankful that you took the time to teach them. Thank you for the compliment, and for visiting us. :)
Excuse me daughter I did make you one outfit it was a fourth of July outfit and I made it from scratch without a pattern and it came out beautiful it was red white and blue with a skirt a halter top and a scarf for your little head. Ihad a old sewing machine that someone gave to me , when it got broken I did not have the money to repair it or a mommy who would buy me one.
You explained it so well, thank you.
I made an adorable apron with ruffles on the bottom. Now that i know how to make the ruffles (thanks to you), i will add them to my 3 year old daughters dresses. I am a begining sewer but i love to sew. I am still learning all the sewing definitions (like gathers, seam allowance, and so on) ha ha. But I'll get there someday. Thanks again for your wonderful tutorial. I wish i could send you a picture of my apron with the cute ruffles but trust me it turned out great :o)
Beautiful frill method thanks dear you are doing great job i love your teaching style 👍👍👍😍
This video is wonderful! Thanks so much. I've got a little girl due in July and I've spent the last few weeks teaching myself how to sew little outfits. Your tutorial means I can add a gorgeous little ruffle to a nappy cover to make a yellow watermelon themed outfit.
I'm going to be making my first outfit, a cosplay, soon. This helps so much, thank you!
You did a wonderful job with this tutorial. That was the easiest explanation for ruffles and pleats. You were very thorough and I was able to actually see your project very well. Thank you. 😊

That was so nice of you to put together this video. You explained everything very well. I'm almost thinking maybe you used to be a home economics teacher, you did it all so nicely. And the ruffles and pleats you did all looked so professional. I'm anxious to look at your other videos, but I just had to say thank you first. I'm sure you've helped many, many people. I've been sewing about 6 months and I learned everything I know from TH-cam. I hope to someday return the favor.

Yeyeyeyyyy now I know how to make ruffles ! AWESOME Thank you !!
this is such a great video!! learned exactly what i wanted to learn! thank you
That looks so cool. I'm learning how to sew (slowly, but surely), and I thought about doing a box pleat in the center of one with knife pleats on each side each toward the center.
I wondered how on earth I'd attach a double hemmed ruffle to something, but then it dawned on me, it could be used as straps for a child's summer dress. : )
Thanks for this video. You made it so easy to follow and I learned how to make my first ruffle😀
