    Great video. One suggestion is to mark the old switch before taking it out. Then put next to new switch and mark to know how far to insert.

    After watching this video, I called the Irvine Subaru dealership out of curiosity to see what they would charge me. They estimated $128 with a full inspection. Even after conveying I read up on this issue and found that this part might resolve it, they still tried to sell me the full inspection because the part was no guarantee to fix it. When I came into their service department to buy the part, their worker told me that this was a common part being bought. I’m certain the person I spoke to on the phone knew of the issue, and still tried to rip me off. That really bothered me.
    Anyways, the part cost $17.12 and it took 5 minutes to remove and replace. Issue resolved.
    Thank you very much George.

    I have a Kia Sorento but had the same symptoms as described on your video title. I went ahead and did what you suggested and replaced the Stop Light Switch. Lo and Behold, my problem was fixed. But my luck is that I did not use the switch that you twist off and on. I had the one with the nuts. Getting it out was no problem but putting it back on you have to have extremely nimble fingers which this 67 year old man does not have so it took me awhile. Anyway, I want to thank you for providing this very helpful video. I am sure you helped save me a lot of money. I am grateful, so thank you kindly.

    YOU ARE THE MAN! You've saved me a ton of $$$ and I owe you a ton of gratitude!!! Thanks for the extremely concise instructional. My wife's 2015 Subaru Forester had the same error lights as you did: ABS, Hill Assist & Traction Control PLUS the shifter would get stuck in "Park". I had to pop off the little plastic cover just next to the shifter and stick a screwdriver into the hole to manually unlock the shifter every time I shift out of "Park". I replaced the exact part and it works like a charm! Thank you!!!..... Thank you!!!..... Thank you!!!

    I was really hoping that would fix it. I'm 7 hours from home on a solo trip. Need to be back for work tomorrow. Got it swapped but not only did it not clear but it's in locked diff now. Fuck my life. ~Edit~ Wanted to amend this. After a few tries at various depths, the swapped part DID fix the issue, though I had to go to a nearby Auto Zone to have them clear the code with their ODB2 scanner as the car wouldn't clear them on its own. 7 hour drive home and nothing ever re-surfaced. It DOES seem to reset the ECU's learned driving behaviours so it's going to feel really off for a bit until it re-learns how to car. All in all though a $13 to $17 fix and a few minute parking lot install (hardest part is getting the retention clip loose on the wiring harness jumper). Dealer wanted $200 to install this. What an absolute fucking joke. Just like it's a joke that this part fails after 22k miles. Cmon Subaru... Anyway, HUGE thanks OP. You're a lifesaver.

    @benedictusmaladaptus2712 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    THIS IS NOT THE ONLY REASON YOU'LL GET THOSE LIGHTS. Those lights come on all at the same time because they all interact with certain systems. If one of several other systems they interact with throws a code, these systems will disable until the root cause is cured. The car will continue to seem to drive fine, but understand those systems are disabled, so you will have regular brakes instead of ABS. Your traction control won't respond. Your hill assist won't work. It will be like driving an older car that doesn't have those things.
    After the brake light switch swap, these lights will be off when you reconnect the battery, but if they come back on after a while, it will be one of several other known causes. There are known CVT issues. It could be a weak battery/charging system. Bad cable connection/ground.
    THE SOLUTION? GET YOUR CODES CHECKED. The ACTUAL cause is going to be one of them, and the cause. Fix that one, and all the others will go away.

      So it’s been two days. I replaced the part. 3 minutes to change out. Initially the light went away and then after driving a little bit it came back. I got home and adjusted the sensor depth. It’s been two days and no light since that. So far pretty happy.
      Initial problem conditions:
      Drive Time: 30-45 Minutes
      Weather: Raining
      Temp: 38-45*
      Speed: 45-60 MPH
      Indicators: ABS, Hill Assist, Traction Control Lights come on.
      Current Conditions (Fixed):
      Drive time: Average 30-45 Minutes
      Temp: 45-52
      MPH 25-80MPH
      Indicators: None

    I found out this switch is nothing more than a switch. Its not a sensor, it just turns ON or OFF your stop lights when you push the brake pedal. I had the same mentioned problem on my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport and at first took a code reader and plugged in and it showed no codes. So decided to take it to the dealership. They troubleshoot the problem and found a bad ABS sensor on the rear right side, replaced the sensor and problem solved. Lucky me the item was covered by the warranty of the vehicle, so NO PAYMENT !!!!. Conclusion .... just take it to the dealership if can and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing any way.

      You essentially have to pull the sensor out or put it back in depending on where the positioning is at.

    Hey, i have same problem with my sti 13, i went to the dealership they took the fault code and it was 52 thats mean Motor/Motor relay. But my question is that, did you took the fault code before you change this brake light relay? I am wondering just to know if it can be the same code as mine and it worked with that anyway. Not too cool to buy a new Abs motor pump for 1000$ when it can be fixed cheeper. Thanks for the help.

      I would take out your battery and go get it tested. see if your battery is bad

    • @WillieBeamenApex
      @WillieBeamenApex 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you don't install the piece far enough in to depress the button, your brake lights will stay on permanently, even when the car is off, so, this is what drained your battery. If you have to do it, check your brake lights after installation, if they are still on, re-install the switch a little deeper, keep going till the lights are off.
