    Actually what we are taught is that we measure the distance from the pole of the mirror and the distance measured in opposite direction to that of light is taken to be negative and that towards the ray of light is positive. So in this case when the object is placed within the focal length of a concave mirror, the focus should be negative and the image distance should be positive. Hope its true. :)
