I was 13 years old when this album was released. Even though I was a staunch maestro fan by then the modernity and grooves in this album took my breath away. We bought the first boom box in our house (National RXC40 with graphic equalizer) and the first recorded tape that came up with the set was this film. I was so happy to explore the settings of the equalizer to increase the bass and without knowing I fell in love with the bass guitar. Up until the year 2000, I was not aware that the maestro's bass lines are captivating me all the time. Guitar Prasanna wrote an article about Raja sir's bass work and how impeccable it was on most of his songs. Since then I followed most of Raja sir's song and almost by-hearted all the bass lines. It is so refreshing to see an amazing musician like you perform the bass and show us the magic in real-time. Your fluid playing shows how much time you put into practice to master the fretboard. Very nice...I used to listen to the original song via headphones just for the slap bass pieces.. used to be a bit rare in Raaja sir's music. His bass notes are out of the world especially in his 80s songs.
As far as I know, slap bass was kinda unheard in Indian music back then and hence most of those bits were played on the keyboard. Incredible piece of music by Maestro!

Wonderfully played! We can clearly understand how bass supports/compliments the overall structure of the song, sometimes playing as Harmony and some times acting as a counter-melody. Thanks to Raja sir for coming out with these gems. Credit should also be given to Viji Manuel sir who had creative contribution in many of these baseline progressions!
Bass line is the life line of any song....u just nailed it with utmost precision as always brother....ur videos are boon for many musicians who wants to play nd record bass parts in their track recordings especially in older songs with not so good audio quality because of difficulty in finding out exact notes of bass....u helped me a lot in this regard..tq so much.....am insisting u again to do a bass cover of mun paniya song too....
