Good job !!! Everyone starts out as a beginner. A few channels I watch have started milling their own boards from their trees. I think it is a wonderful idea. Maybe you could build something really special with the first boards you have milled. A bench in the garden or orchard. By the way, when you are working around this type of machiney, it would be a good idea to wear tighter clothing. Loose clothing can get caught on anything and pull you into a dangerous position. Hi, Chad! So. While you are still learning how to use the sawmill, would you have any interest in cutting a piece of live-edge for me? I don't know how much it would cost to get it to California, but I thought I'd ask you'd be willing before I tried to figure it out.
I probably wouldn't mind at all although the price is probably prohibitive to ship. The problem with live edge slabs to my knowledge is that the tree needs to be cut during mid winter so that it has the best chance of the bark staying on. And be milled right away, not sit for months at a time. If a tree is cut in spring or other times when the sap is running the bark will most likely fall off.
For the dust chute use a rain gutter down spout curved joint. Screw it to your chute, with the gutter bend joint angled into the bucket. Easy pleasy. Dude come on now, I'm a network administrator, and a Suburban dweller. But for every situation that befuddled you I've come up with solutions on the fly. It's not hard I as I see it.
WHAT a great machine!!! How much pressure do you have to exert during the walking you did with each cut? (it looked like a hot knife through butter actually..) looks like SO MUCH fun!!
@@mandmmilling3716 yes I do, that was just a smaller log I was testing. The handy new upgrade with this hm136 max is the log stops have rubber rollers on the top which is supposed to allow the logs to roll into them easier.
@@alangardeski3199 yeah you’re probably right, I know their office is here in Ontario. Imagine the price if it was made using Canadian labour. So far I’m loving the mill anyhow. I’m building the massive sawmill shelter now, trying to get most of it done before the snow comes.
Won't that smaller piece fit, now tĥat you've cut it? Wow! What à great economy with this beatiful wood. Maybe people will come to you to cut some of their wood. You'll even be able to make some extra money from your wood if you wam to.
Found my AWOL comment meant for today attached to a vlog from a month ago-either I’m getting senile or technology is out to get me today! Suspect senile😆 What a sense of satisfaction you must have in assembling the mill, putting it to work for the first time, and looking forward to the self sufficiency it means. The pioneer astounded to even imagine such a thing! Does the mill require a lot of maintenance? 💪🏻🪓😅
Haha I hear ya 😝 don’t think it needs a lot of maintenance though. When blades become dull it’s a problem and although not setup yet I also got the blade sharpener and the tooth setter.
Rather than cut the first long log with the offset kink vertically, What you should have done is cut horizontally the kink down smoothly with your chainsaw. Common Sense Dude, Your Not A Thinker outside the box kinda guy. Adapt situations to your needs, never let them overcome you. That being said, that sawmill is going to save you a Business ton of money, as you cam now make your own 2X'S, 4X'S, 6X'S ect ect. I'm very envious of you.with all that acreage of trees, put that sawmill to work and sell your acres of lumber to your neighbors. Watch youtuber (Adam) at (Hometownacres) for tips on using and cutting, storing and bundling lumber and firewood for sale. He has a very smart efficient cost effective method. Follow Adam's method.
You know what. You obviously have zero idea what it takes to create videos like I do. Because I didn't do what you thought I should have is questionable. Instead of your snide comments, just think for a second how many hours i have available to actually film. It's literally my first couple hours using the mill and you just say something like I can't think outside the box or I don't have common sense. Adam is an accountant and started out just like me, only difference is I have a farm. I'll figure it out as I go. I have no plans at this time to make businesses from my mill as I just don't have the time unlike Adam and others who are able to quit their jobs and youtube full time. But really I'm not one who just copies others if you haven't figured that out yet. I've built up my farm to be probably the most unique on youtube, but I don't think outside the box? Always backhanded compliments with you, of course I have common sense. Maybe retirees can sit around and watch youtube all day but I have far too many things to do. If you were to cite a specific video that's better. Since you've been doing this kind of work your whole life just provide advice, ideas or maybe praise or even disappointment. Most of your comments I take it with a grain of salt but come on dude, whether you meant it that way or not it's not cool. Just enjoy the entertainment. Chad out.

Should synthetic oil be used on a new engine?
The manual recommends it
WHAT a great machine!!! How much pressure do you have to exert during the walking you did with each cut? (it looked like a hot knife through butter actually..) looks like SO MUCH fun!!
Not much at all, mind you the blade is brand new but still…very easy and smooth. And it’s an oak log so very hard wood.
Rotate the log into the log stops, not away from them.
@@mandmmilling3716 yes I do, that was just a smaller log I was testing. The handy new upgrade with this hm136 max is the log stops have rubber rollers on the top which is supposed to allow the logs to roll into them easier.
Do you have and college education and technology licenses like NAIT and SAIT or all home schooled?
I don’t even know what that is 😆

I think it may be sold in Ontario but made in China?
@@alangardeski3199 yeah you’re probably right, I know their office is here in Ontario. Imagine the price if it was made using Canadian labour. So far I’m loving the mill anyhow. I’m building the massive sawmill shelter now, trying to get most of it done before the snow comes.
Gotta get that saw dust bucket some saw dust next time. Good vid otherwise.
@@sbwmurray3988 haha oh I’m on a roll now 😉
Won't that smaller piece fit, now tĥat you've cut it?
Suspect senile😆
What a sense of satisfaction you must have in assembling the mill, putting it to work for the first time, and looking forward to the self sufficiency it means.
Hey, Chad and 🫒
This mill is just in time to make wood for your sugar shack.
Yup one step closer
Rather than cut the first long log with the offset kink vertically,
What you should have done is cut horizontally the kink down smoothly with your chainsaw. Common Sense
Dude, Your Not A Thinker outside the box kinda guy.
Chad out.
I’m an older woman and I truly enjoyed watching your videos on put the mill together and to see what you can do with it I am so happy to see your progress. Great job and I am excited to see what you do with it in the future. God bless you and your beautiful wife and family.
And your farm family.
