That’s true sometimes but not all the time. Zidane loved to showboat and entertain, especially when he plays in the Bernabeu where the Madrid fans just absolutely loved him and would cheer for every single thing he does. Even in the clips in the video you can see the moments where he does the flashy moves instead of passing to a man running in better position.

Yeah these clips really show that. I thought that too. The roulette he does, are not normal roulettes. He times it perfectly so that the defender literally cannot see or get to the ball because his body is perfectly in the way at the point in time the defender would tackle him. Unlike many modern players that will do a spin for no reason for example. This is why it looks like he is able to glide past people at a jogging pace, because his timing and IQ is so good

Jude plays as a 20 years old that has all the tools to be one of the best of the next decade, therefore he more often than not decides to not risk the ball and play safe. Zidane had so much technique that he made everything look easy. The only ones I've seen do something similar were Ronaldinho and Messi. But Zidane pace was his own. He almost looked awkward moving, like being slow, but always getting there before the defender. He seemed to be almost losing the ball every time but never actually losing it. His pace I think played a major role in how hard was to defend against him. He would switch from fast pace to slow to awkward at will. But the most important part of his play was his control. He ALWAYS controlled the ball with one touch but thinking on the next move, so the ball would be in the exact place that would benefit to do what he wanted next. Amazing player, world class player just a step behind Maradona, Messi and Pelé. Top 10 HANDS DOWN.

But he had the talent of taking a touch at the right time to unbalance the opponent, an excellent first touch, mastered the Marseille turn & feints & always looking up for his mates.
And i find him very similar to Bellingham & i think he can reach zidane's level if he stays consistent & dedicated.

I been fan of Real Madrid for 23 years now. watched Galaticos play, seen their downfall than after transition time we got Galaticos 2.0 with CR7 leading the bracket. My first football game that i watched on televison was Real Madrid vs Bayer Leverkusen in the final when Zidane scored his volley and it was love at first sight.
Today watching Bellingham play brings back that Zidane flavour. Bellingham is tall and strong just as Zidane. A bit clumsy at the times. Just like Zidane. They both have amasing passing ability. Great in offense and defense. Very temperamental players with their attitude. Zidane showed us of skill and beauty, but remember Bellingham is only 20y old and his technical potential is very high. And as a cheery on top. Same club, same number. Bellingham himself said Zidane is inspiration for him. Hopefully we will see incarnation of Zidane once more on the pitch.
If you think this is bullshit. Just look the way they run, dribble, carry the ball, get in tackle, act with other players, pass etc. Its so similar it brings joy. Bellingham can and hopefully will show us same maestral games Zidane showed us decades ago.

@@sub-zero7008 Yea… Bellingham isn’t the final product either… but I tell, that he’s one of the first in a long while, that reminds me these giants of the game. The average pro player to me, seems to be better and more skilled.. but the best of them, star names, seems to have thinned out. I think Bellingham reminds me of a star player, like a Zidane.
But regarding being the most elegant on the pitch, Laudrup was undoubtedly number 1. I still think there’s hours upon hours of just him passing the ball. However, I think Zidane is probably the only legit contender to Laudrup. You could make up a good case as to why, he’s number 1 in that category.

  • @freethis222

    What makes a player elegant?
No doubt Zidane was a master of his trade, he had great dribbling and technical skills and an amazing overview of the game, but I'm not sure if elegant is a word I'd use about him. Pirlo, Ronaldinho, M. Laudrup, Figo, Bergkamp, Henry, Hagi, Baggio, Gullit, Zola, Messi - for me, they all come to mind before Zidane when thinking about elegance on the pitch.

But I guess this was a clickbait title to get the younger fans to watch clips of retired players.
Same reason why I never really watched clips of Best, Pele etc until I was old enough to appreciate the beauty of football skills.
