    Barris cars got me into model cars and countless others I suppose ! I was about 13 when I built the Ala Cart ! Still have it and scores of still unbuilt kits ! Life gets in the way sometimes !

    I worked on a house in Anaheim California and the guy had an old 30 something car in his garage that he said it was one of the first cars that George had done, it had the tale pipes exiting the rear fender on a angled slice

    So ahead of his time, Barris may be the greatest kustom builder

    Nice job! Some of his cars are way out there, yet most are true master pieces!

    Dude, this was fantastic, and for those of us who grew up as gearheads, and were attendees of custom car shows, and built models of these and other custom car builders works of automotive artwork this was great, except for 1 thing. That one thing are the names of the cars and what they were based upon and the engine or who they were built for, show, or stars.
    For those of us who lived in that era most are obvious, and yet some not. For the culturally deprived ignorant younger generations they don't have a clue!!! I had to explain to generation Xer's last night at a social gathering, that once upon a time dairy products were delivered directly to a person's home by a dairy through a service, and we referred to that person as a milkman, and just like GrubHub delivers food the milkman delivered milk 🥛, butter 🧈, and eggs 🥚. And placed them in a thing called a milk box 📦, an insulated container. They were dumbfounded, and then I had to explain to these brainless morons, what a milk box was.
    So in the future consider how low an I.Q. many of your audience has, and how lazy they are about researching things, along with their "teachers". Remember they are "computer literate", but know little else.
    Again nice work 👏, and think about what should be added.

    Some of these could be up to date still. Some were for movies only and some i would not be caught dead in. One thing is for sure. He had a special style of idea's.

    I'm a big fan of George Barris. He built some beautiful cars. This video reminded me of all the ridiculous butt-ugly cars he also built. They can't all be winners.

      If they were built for a promotion ..that lets him off the hook..
      but ummm , the serious cars don't exactly exemplify taste.

    • @NeilLB7
      @NeilLB7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He was an abstract artist using cars as his medium. I wouldn’t own hardly any of these cars (except the Muster Cowch!!!) if I was a millionaire car collector. But I do see that to him…they were extensions of his mind…not necessarily a car to win a show. They were ahead of their time. And the future was unknown.

    You’re Kidding aren’t you......He built so many great cars for sure........he was rampant self promoter.......he impressed the Hollywood Set, but it was his brother Sam who built the first Chopped Mercury, Sam was the “real” body man.......there were many other Great Customisers out there...........Joe Bailon, who invented Candy Apple Paint, the Ayalas, the Alexander Bros, Bill Cushenbery, etc, and the Great Gene Winfield, who is still with us, giving back to the Custom Car Industry.

    Personally I think the guy was a fraud George Barris claimed that he built the Monkey mobile . He had absolutely nothing to do with the design and the build of that 66 GTO he purchased the car and he did own it
