Why two gyroscopes? | Groundbreaking use of space satellite technology

  • Founder & CEO Daniel Kim showcases four different gyroscopes, how they work, their placement in the AEV, and why our vehicle architecture utilizes two gyros over one.
What are gyroscopes used for? Gyroscopes are typically used in earth observation satellites, but we've brought them down to a terrestrial application!
    Why two gyroscopes?
    1. One gyro runs out of the precession budget and creates unwanted yaw. Using just one gyro in normal driving scenarios and conditions would saturate the precessions budget, causing you to lose stability or have to pull over and stop the car to readjust.
    2. Redundancy to maximize safety.
    3. Double the torque for slippery surfaces.

To be fair for Lit Motors Daniel Kim had a bad accident and needed a lot of time to recover. So I could not imagine what would happen to Tesla without Elon Musk. All the best from an early adopter in Switzerland waiting since the beginning for this vehicle that would be nice on our narrow roads.

Thank you for the well wishes! Yes, the accident played a huge part in our hiatus. Thankfully we were able to rebuild with an amazing team, even more patents to protect our IP, and we're now raising to move into development. Lots to do, but we're here to answer any questions and bring our followers along for the ride!

Similar principle to the gyro monorail.

Been following since the beginning and reserved a spot many years ago. Hoping it comes to fruition, but always wanted to say, why not take advantage of a bike wheels’ natural gyroscopic properties by having the hubs spin independently to the rims and the hubs act as a centrifugal clutch to engage the rims of the wheels? Maybe in c2?

    This is amazing and needed!

Can the gyros make the bike do a permanent wheelie? That would be cool!

We wish Lit Motor all the best. Greetings from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪

Will it not be using up battery energy just standing still because of the gyroscopes?

    • @litmotorsofficial
      @litmotorsofficial  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

Gyro power consumption varies depending on the size of the motor and the type of application. It's estimated to be between 90-800w

@@litmotorsofficial IMHO it may save energy if the bike senses it's standing still for a set time (eg 5sec) then 2 mechanical stand on each side extend to assist in standing the bike so that the gyros can power down. It'll be most effective during traffic light stops.
Anyway, I believe you guys must have thought of better solutions.
Good luck with the project! Hope to see it on sale soon.

Thanks Dan, we did all this in 1991 and proved the 2 gyro principle at that time and date. Most of what you just said was bull.😅

Wasting time he supposed to merge with another company to do the job in order to have a massive production this is a great idea

Hi Brandon! There's a lot going on here behind the scenes that we can't share just yet, but we hope you'll stick around to find out. We do have a blog post going into some of this, if you'd like more details - and let us know if you have other questions you'd like answered in future blog posts! www.litmotors.com/post/answering-your-questions

The background music is unnecessary and distracting. Why even add stupid music?

He is not a scam. But whenever his toy makes it to mass production, I probably be six feet under and get rolled over by his gyro!

We understand the frustration. It's definitely been a journey, and not all of it easy, especially after our founder and CEO's prolonged recovery period. We go into this hiatus in our blog post (linked at the end of this comment) if you'd like to get up to speed on the details, but we also welcome discourse and we're open to any questions we can answer for you! www.litmotors.com/post/answering-your-questions

The truth is that they still don't know how to make this system work. The gyro or gyroscopes need to precess while in a turn. Forced precession will only work if the speed of control varies with the lean.

The reason that I know this is that we tested it back in 1991 In Portland Oregon near Reed College
